Q: My house is very old and the cieling won't hold the weight of someone sitting in the chair. Is there any way I can make a frame or something that will help support the weight.
Even is your house is old, you can still install this chair so it works and doesn't rip the ceiling down on your head. I've done this sooooooo many times (mostly for very heavy chandeliers) and it works! You will however, need to prepare first. You'll need to go up into the space above the ceiling of your room and the roof. You can drill thru the ceiling and use a very long screw post (you'll find it at any good home hardware store... just tell them what you want to do) It's a long pole with threads just like a screw but flat on both ends. You can bolt this into a support post in the attic crawl space, then it will come out thru the ceiling in your room. Add a hook for 250 pounds to the thread post and hang your chair... it'll hold 250 pounds, easily! Nice chair, by the way!
Q: Okay, so I need to buy a portable chair for my field day on for a week from now. I don't know what to get. D:I kinda need to know whatever I need is called.Thankies in advance.
These okorder /.. You can also just bring a beach towel, and sit on the ground.
Q: ok so i need a lil help with this, if..A chair of mass 10.5 kg is sitting on the horizontal floor; the floor is not frictionless. You push on the chair with a force = 40.0 N that is directed at an angle of 39.0 degrees below the horizontal and the chair slides along the floor.Calculate the normal force that the floor exerts on the chair.ive tried a couple times and can tell you the answer is NOT, 103 N, 367 N, 429 N and 77.8 N.Please help me out and include the CORRECT answer and working out.thanks heaps, take it easy :)
Weight of chair = mg = 10.5 x 9.81 = 103.0N Vertical component of 40.0N force = 40.0sin(39.0) = 25.17N upwards Resultant vertical force on chair = 0 (as there is no acceleration in vertical direction), therefore: total downwards force = total upwards force The total downwards force is just the weight. The total upwards force is 25.17N + the normal force. 103.0 = 25.17 + N where N is normal force N = 103.0 - 25.17 = 77.8N (to 3 sig. figs., same as data supplied)
Q: I have had a desk chair for a couple years, and the part where i sit has gotten completely flat. Now whenever I sit the bottom is hard and uncomfortable. Does anyone know any good office chairs with wheels, that are comfortable, and the will last around 5 years?
I just got the SAYL chair (herman Miller). there are many office chairs by commercia/corporatel manufacturers that are extremely long wearing. There are dozens of manufacturers-you can do a search for office... or look at some office oriented design magazines see who the chair manufacturer is.
Q: Which do you prefer? This would be for a dining set in cast aluminum that looks like wrought iron and would be used on a wooden deck (not a patio). I like the look of dining chairs (i.e., with legs) because I prefer a traditional style with my old house, but I'm wondering if swivel chairs would be more comfortable and practical on a deck (no legs to get caught in the cracks). Opinions?
I love my swivel chairs as they are comfortable and I can rock my baby in them - but for eating I prefer my dining chairs because they sit up closer to the table and don't lean back. Get a mixture - two swivels and 4 dining. I don't really have problems with the decking cracks.
Q: Hey, so I bought a wing chair from goodwill, I'm going to clean it, but the fabric is ugly, and I want to put new fabric on, how do I go about doing this?
Re-covering a wing chair is a job for an expert upholsterer so i wouldn't recommend it for a first project unless you're a great seamstress already. However, you can make a passable slipcover for it. Choose a soft but sturdy fabric in a solid cover or small or large print (no stripes, medium scale prints or plaids -- too hard to match patterns). You'll need about 6 yards, at least. One cheap way to get a lot of fabric is to buy bedsheets or fabric shower curtains. I made a nice chair slipcover years ago from two heavy cotton large tableclothes, 60 x 120 each that cost me less than $15 total. Wash and machine dry your fabric first to pre-shrink it. You can either make paper patterns by smoothing brown wrapping paper over the areas of the chair and cutting the pieces to fit OR just smooth the fabric over each area (the back, the seat cushion, the sides) and cutting the pieces with an inch on each side. Pin the pieces together over the chair with the good side of the fabric towards the chair and the seam edges out, then sew the seams together. Then turn the slipcover right side out and slip it over the chair. Sew woven tape ties or ribbons at the bottom edge near all 4 legs and tie them around the legs to keep the cover from riding up or slipping. If the seat cushion is removeable, make the cover to fit the chair with the cushion off, then make a separate slip cover for the seat cushion with a zipper or velcro to close one side. If you go to a fabric store, some of the pattern companies (like mcCalls, Butterick and Simplicity) have patterns that give instructions for making slipcovers like this -- your local library probably has upholstering guide books too. Good luck with your chair!
Q: my 4 year old is in a high chair and will not dit any where else to eat her food!!what to do?
Try setting up a playdate for your daughter.. maybe if she has older cousins or neighborhood friends around her age and .. having them all sit at a table to eat. Sometimes having peer's her own age can help her adjust to new things. Taking her high chair away and putting it up in storage will not leave her a choice to sit in one. Try introducing her to a playschool toddler table and maybe having her sit there with you... while you eat a snack together.. Or try setting up her food at the family table when you serve her. Make it exciting... Maybe start off with coloring pictures at the family table before snack time, and inadvertantly bring her snack to her there ... Tell her that today is a very special day and you'll be having a special kinda snack/meal and decorate a chair at the family table for her to sit in.. like a princess chair.. Remember who's the child and who's the adult, children do what their parents allow them to do.
Q: I am designing a chair for a musician for a school project and have a few questions about the ergonomics of the chairs that musicians sit it while performing and practicing. a. How often (on average) do you practice/play per week? b. What is the proper posture for playing your instrument while sitting? c. Do you prefer to stand or sit when performing/practicing? Why? d. Do you have any physical ailments associated with sitting while playing your instrument? e. How does your seat position within an orchestral setting affect your playing? f. Do you have a favorite chair when practicing/playing? If so, what do you like about it? g. What do you like/not like about the chairs you are typically required to use? h. Would you consider buying a purposely-designed chair for playing if you knew it would help your performance and/or health? i. What characteristics would define an ideal musician’s seat for you and your instrument?
I play the flute, a. I play Monday through Friday for an hour with my school band, and about 30 minutes to an hour most evenings. b. Proper posture is to have both feet flat on the floor while sitting on the edge of the seat with a straight back. c. I prefer to stand when I'm playing by myself, because it makes breathing easier. d. If I have to hold my instrument up for a while, my arms ache, but it's nothing too major. e. The worst part about being a flute player is having to adjust for space and trying to hold the instrument around the chair. So we're constantly shifting, trying to get comfortable. f. The chair I like to use if I have to sit is a little taller and has a lower back. g. The chairs I have to use are generally hard plastic, which is uncomfortable, and they have high backs that are difficult to maneuver around. h. Yes I would. i. One with a lower back, so I could hold my instrument over it, and a little more suited to sitting for longer periods of time.
Q: What are the main functions of office chairs?
1. Relax your body2, remove tension (relaxation to tension)3. Tilt your body forward and back (forward to back)4. Stand up, sit down, stand up again, and sit still. No chair or seat can be completed or allow the designer to meet all of the above requirements. Office chair as a general concept, covering this type of broad sense and other types such as benches, chairs and sofa seat stool. Some chairs, reception chairs, lounge chairs, such as chairs or benches, their main function is mainly in the aesthetic needs to consider. Other office chairs are chosen because they meet the needs of users.
Q: I have an 8 month old baby. What is the best high chair that will last awhile? I'm also pregnant with my 2nd baby so I would use this for baby #2 also. Please share links of the high chair. I need to purchase one by tomorrow. Thanks!
I okorder / It's for my 5 month old and he's still a little small for it but I hope it'll be great - it has a removable tray for sitting at a table and then converts to a chair for up to 100 lbs. I got it on Craigslist but I think you can buy it as cheap as $99.
