- I made a chair out of a Dodge mini van seat- Captain chair type- I used 2x6's for the side rails just about as wide as the seat drilled 3/4 holes in the 2x6's make them 12longer than the chair in front and the same in back- mine recline-this will let you recline without hitting the wall, use 1/2 black iron pipe run them through the 3/4 holes My chair has hooks on the bottom to lock it in place, now cover the 2x6 with cloth or leather and they are comfortable, Mine is in my shop and I even take naps in it . - Its a hospitality chair. In other words it is used in restaurants, bars, hotels, etc. There are thousands of styles made and they are constantly having new models introduced and old ones dropped. It was probably made and sold in large quantities by companies like GAR, Grand Rapids Chair, Sandler, MTS seating or other to-the-trade companies for interior designers. By the look of it I would guess it was made in the 80's You may have a hard time finding the exact same thing. Your best bet would be to check out places that resell restaurant equipment and furniture.

- i guesss so every desk has a chair! and they don't lose them. they're probably cheaper too. also so kids don't lean back on them and fall. but not a lot of highschoolers do that

- Tell hubby that you are afraid someone is going to either sit on a chair and fall out or it will break when they sit in it and they will sue you for not changing the chairs when you noticed that they were beyond their useful life. If you don't mind being sued then perhaps you might at least be concerned about not harming visitors. With respect to repairing them it is a little difficult to tell at a distance as I don't know what you like about them. I could tell you to cut off the bases and put legs on them but this does not immediately sound like it would be acceptable.

- I would go with the IKEA or Bernie chair. It's a nice collection you've put together. All neutral colors and complimentary styles so they go together. Use 1-3 bright or deep complimenting colors in your accent pieces, decorations, rugs, and art. - If the chair legs are plastic on the bottom and they are on a concrete floor then it can happen very easily. I had this experience at work. I tossed the chairs once this happened. If this is not the case then tell the students to not tilt the chairs back.
