- I made a chair out of a Dodge mini van seat- Captain chair type- I used 2x6's for the side rails just about as wide as the seat drilled 3/4 holes in the 2x6's make them 12longer than the chair in front and the same in back- mine recline-this will let you recline without hitting the wall, use 1/2 black iron pipe run them through the 3/4 holes My chair has hooks on the bottom to lock it in place, now cover the 2x6 with cloth or leather and they are comfortable, Mine is in my shop and I even take naps in it . - You could make the actual chair seat with scraps of wood and buy a hinge so it will fold up. You could also use an old chair seat.You might have something available at your home. Make sure the piece that is attached to the wall is properly secured to a stud in the wall. Go to Joann Fabric or any similar store and you can get some 2 foam (padding) to put over the seat. I would cover the foam with some fabric and slide it on the seat (like a pillowcase). Buy some fabric adhesive spray and adhere the back to the seat or.....you could use Velcro to keep it snug. You could hand stitch the fabric, if necessary. Be Creative.....You can do it!!!

- I have wood floors and is hasnt been a problem for me, but i think it depends on the type of chair and the weight of the person. If you have a cheap chair with plastic wheels and a 200 pound person sliding back and forth on it, youre obviously gonna do some damage. It wouldnt hurt to get a plastic matt for the floor, but i wouldnt say its necessary.

- Ergonomics is more than just a good chair. Your whole workstation must be properly set up. Let me ask a few questions: Do you use a keyboard tray? Do you have a flat screen monitor at your desk and is it supported by a monitor arm (Not the stand provided by the manufacturer)? Do you sit in a cubicle or in an office? In regards to the chair, there is no one chair that is better than any other. Chairs are personal and what might work for you will not work for others. Unfortunately, office chairs are expensive. The less expensive chairs you see in retail stores are usually rated for only 2-3 hours per day and do not have the support or warranty for an 8 hour day. To find a good chair, that will have either a synchro-tilt mechanism or a counter-balance mechanism you are probably going to spend closer to $500. I would suggest calling an office-furniture dealer in your area. They will be able to come to your place of business an provide you with demo chairs so you can find the chair that is the best fit for you.
