Q: I had roofs leaks in my 2 bedrooms (hurricane related) and filed an insurance claim. they covered replacing the carpet in the 2 bedrooms but NOT replacing the hallway and stairs' carpet because that was not damaged. The carpet is 10+ years old so of course i am replacing it all. I think it should be consider all one item, they say that because there is a 'break' between the room and the hallway, their practice is to only replace the damaged carpet -- though this is not defined in the policy. The new carpet is totally diff color. Has anyone had any experience with this? I have total replacement cost and it is State farm.
Total replacement cost is NOT the same thing as matching. I have State Farm, and I pay extra for matching - which also wouldn't likely include hallway carpet, unless it runs from a room WITHOUT a door, like a living room. Go ask your agent if 'matching' is available in your state.
Q: I left for a few weeks and left my friend at my house. She brought her dog and cat.I have no money. And my carpet is ruined (along with my coach lol).Any tips on how to clean carpets (with no carpet cleaning machine)?HELP PLZ.
Ask around and borrow someone elses carpet cleaner like a friends,(so many people these days have one, or they know someone who has one) and instead of using expensive carpet cleaning solution, just use laundry detergent and water. Good Luck!
Q: Why does lay carpet under sofa and coffee table
You can take high grade carpet to the carpet cleaning company to deal with, in addition to the decoration. And now the carpet cleaning fluid is very convenient, as well as plays the role of the protecting floor
Q: Ok my dinning room table measures 60cm x 40cm how many inches of area rug would i buy to fit and have some space left?is this one way too big 63inches x 94 inches?thanks all.
Use this rule of thumb: Chairs of dining room table should rest completely on the rug when pulled up to the table and allow the chairs to glide over the edge of the rug without catching. The rug you have now is about 5 X 8 if it is 63 inches by 94 inches and that is pretty small for a dining rug. If the flooring under your table is wood consider no rug at all- you may prefer it! You're saying that your table in inches is only 15.75 inches by 24 which isn't even big enough for a dinner plate- are you sure your dining table is that small? Just checking as the measurement you gave may have been a typo? If your dining table seats about 4 people then I suggest at least a 5 x 8 rug.If your table seats only two, I would still go with a 5' x 8' to add color and make the space more interesting. If your table seats 6 then I suggest a rug that is about 8' x10'. If the room is small then no rug at all or consider a room sized rug that fills the whole room, will add color and texture and will actually make the space appear larger instead of cut-up with so many little things. Q: I know you say quot;six by six foot rugquot; or quot;six sq.foot rugquot; but which of the above is correct?
Just another one of those strange English constructions. If I were saying it, I would say that is a six foot by six foot rug, but I could also say that rug measures six feet by six feet, and they are not interchangeable. In other words, I would never say that is a six feet by six feet rug, and it would be unusual for me to say that rug measures six foot by six foot, though some people might use the latter construction. And just to complicate things, it is always a 36 square foot rug (not a 36 square feet rug), but you would describe it as having 36 square feet (not 36 square foot).
Q: We just bought a house and the master bedroom has wool carpet in it and I just wanted to know how to clean it!!
Wool carpet looks and feels awesome, but is tougher to maintain. I would not use a general carpet shampoo on it since they tend to be rough on non-synthetic fibers over time. For spot treating (spills, etc): Use a white cloth dampened with barely warm water and a few drops of clear dish washing liquid. White cloth and clear liquid just to make sure there's no color/chemical transfer. Blot it the way you'd get at any spill and then a dry cloth to get all that water up. For a deep clean: You'll be better off getting a professional in once a year or whenever the mess is too big to clean yourself.
Q: I just moved into this house and im so paranoid about keeping the floor in good shape, i have a 1 year old and a puppy who are making it kinda hard. So, I need a rug, my living room isnt very big at all, and in fact the living room is kinda long, but not 'big'. I want a red rug, dont know where to search though, and it would be great if i got it at a low price too, what size is a 2x3 by the way? I found one for 20 bucks, but not sure if thats like the size of a rug you put at the entrance of your doorway? help please.
A 2X3 rug is only 24 X 36... too small for a living room. Your living room would probably be better suited to a 5X8 (60 X 96) or similar. When choosing a rug, ask the salesperson about wash-ability as some fibres are more prone to staining even when spills are promptly cleaned with rug cleaner. Solid colours also tend to show dirt quicker, so look for a rug with flecks of red in two slightly different shades or even a bit of a texture so that certain unavoidable dirt (lint, pet hair, etc) might be concealed a bit. Good luck and enjoy your new home!
Q: I used Oxiclean to get makeup out of my carpet a month ago. There is a huge white spot on my carpet now and this is a rental home. Is there anyway to fix this problem?
Yes it did, as it has been doing ever since the product was introduced. Oxy clean, used out side of the laundry room, has permanently ruined thousands , if not millions of yards of Nylon carpet.. You will have to hire a professional carpet layer/installer to remove a piece of same carpet from a closet to patch in the damaged area. This is done daily through out the country in rental properties. The closet can then be pieced in with an in expensive piece of carpet similar in color and design.Call a carpet/flooring store to locate a competent person to do this delicate work for you. Good Luck and remember to warn your friends about the damaged caused by this product when used where it shouldn't have been used.
Q: i want to get a carpet fitted in my living room the size 488metres length and the width is 348metres how much would it be if it includes fitting and carpet and who's the cheapest company in birmingham
It relies upon on the size of the room, if underlay and gripper are mandatory, what variety of floor you have below (coz even though if it relatively is a stone/ashfelt floor, the gripper will must be glued down the evening till now). even though if it relatively is a patterned carpets and if any joins will must be put in. ultimate guess is to look in the telephone e book and hit upon a self employed carpet greater healthy who will pop out and do a quote for unfastened. having stated that, you need to purchase a carpet that comes with the value of installation.
Q: My husband and I just moved into yet another rental. The carpet is decent; it's a little stained, but VERY worn in high traffic areas. We have tried everything from having them professionally cleaned to cleaning each inch with a toothbrush (a trick my local flooring salesman gave to make the carpet fibers separate and puff back up). We live in a college town where rent is very high and are so sick of being embarrassed of our carpets. Any suggestions on how to fix this or cover it up?It's a medium pile, standard beige. We HATE area rugs because our furniture makes them wrinkle up (but I'm also very attached to my furniture so I'm not getting rid of that) and I really want a nice smooth look. Even the huge 8x10 area rugs won't stay nice and flat. I looked into carpet tiles, but you can't install those over carpet and my landlord has refused to change it or let me change it. I'm really at the end of my rope here....I just want a nice, clean apartment that I can be proud to show off.
Area rugs are your ONLY choice. I am a landlord and in the few carpeted units I have (most of mine have ceramic tile floors), I also will not let tenants mess with the carpets...if they do, I'll take it out of their deposit when they move out. Your furniture is not the cause of your carpets scrunching up, YOU are. When you walk or move around, the carpet beneath is moved and because the top carpet is not anchored to it, it shifts around. Try a small area rug in a high traffic area...get some velcro strips, the hook side, and using some fabric glue, glue the strips to the back of the area rug...make sure you put a big patch in the middle. Now put the rug down so that the velcro hooks grab the carpet beneath. Now, let it stay there for a few days and see if there is any scrunching...if there is, add some more velcro to the underside of the rug OPPOSITE the scrunch, because the carpet is moving from that direction. If you can make this work on a small rug, you should be able to make it work on larger ones. I have used it in rentals to fix a mat to the carpet just inside the door to minimize soil.. ed fine.
