Q: I have a light beige and ivory rug with blue and green details. It doesn't match my decor, which is neon pink, bright green, and gold. How can I get rid or dye out the blue parts of the rug? What about bleach?
You want to do this at a laundromat, biggest machine possible. in cold water, bleach the rug. It may take two tries---using the largest possible machine, try a cup of detergent and a cup of bleach, and see what happens. If you get the desired shade, or lighten it enough, then you can immediately dye it (To a darker shade, of course.) Otherwise, double or triple the bleach, no detergent, and run it again. You may put additional bleach in the compartment where the fabric softener goes, and it will bleach it again on the rinse cycle. After you dye it, as a courteousy to the next person, run it through a cycle with detergent, empty. Or you can do a load of dark, old clothes, like blue jeans. To dry it, lay it on a flat surface, turning it occasionally, and avoid direct sunlight, ideally it will be in the shade on a warm, breezy day. If indoors, dry it on an old sheet on a carpet, with a fan pointed at it, again, turning it every hour or two. Good-luck---Brian
Q: I just dropped a candle on my light colored carpet and red candle wax is everywhere. Any ideas on how to remove it?
Place ice-cubes on the wax until the ice starts to melt then scrape away as much wax as possible with a blunt knife, then lay sheets of paper towel over the wax.Using a cool iron go over the area.If a greasy mark remains rub with a little tea tree oil. I would try it on a small section first as this is used on material so am not sure it will work on carpet.
Q: I have 3 cats and my 4 year old Maine coon named Harlee keeps peeing on my rug in my dining room. She has always used the litter box until recently. I always keep the litter box clean so I dont know why she is peeing on the rug now... how do i get her to stop and how do I get rid of that smell???

Q: Carpets were used in China in 500 BC. The earliest known carpets originated in China and Iran in the 5th century BC. In 1606, carpets woven by looms were first used near Paris, France. Today's carpets are usually woven from man-made fiber and wool.
The vivid history tells us that the carpet was originally made by the ancestors to keep out the cold. During the Qin and Han Dynasties, the nomadic people outside the Great Wall began to weave and use carpets as cold ground objects. There were carpets with fine workmanship in the Western Han Dynasty. With the elimination of the Huns by Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, the Silk Road, a trade route to West Asia and Europe, was opened. The silk road not only carries silk, carpets, porcelain, tea and spices, but also promotes the exchange and dissemination of eastern and Western cultures. The Chinese carpet weaving technology came to the Middle East and Europe along with China's Silk Road through Central Asia. At the same time, it also showed the Chinese people the Persian carpet representing the Persian civilization. In Persian carpet patterns, there are still many patterns exactly the same as Chinese carpet patterns. Others believe that the pattern of Persian carpet comes from China, but it has been carefully modified and added Persian color in the hands of Persian designers, so as to become a pattern with Middle East style. Since the Western Han Dynasty, the two ancient civilizations have been learning from each other, exchanging and drawing lessons from each other. Traditional Chinese patterns, traditional Persian patterns and weaving techniques have been integrated with each other for a long time, thus achieving an elegant and delicate carpet art.

Q: I am currently building a house. We're almost ready for flooring. We've chosen to put carpet throughout most of the house, besides the kitchen, bath and laundry room. Anyway, we are on a pretty strict budget. I need to know what quality of carpet is best. Like, do I have to buy the super expensive stuff for it to last and stay looking nice? I know that carpets have different weights and densities, does anyone know I should look for when I begin shopping around? oh, fyi: it's about 2000sq ft.

Q: Doesn't carpet bombing subdue countries quicker and with less casualties than other methods?
No, it doesn't. The most bombed country in history was North Vietnam, and they were scarcely subdued - they ended up winning the war! I wonder if you've been reading Mitchell and Douhet's theories? In reality, air bombing is very effective against point targets or small-area suppression. But trying to carpet-bomb with conventional explosives simply creates alot of collateral damage. It doesn't give you any additional military effectiveness while putting your air-fleet at much greater risk.
Q: Which kind of carpet is suitable to be put under the computer chair?
Generally PU wheel chair is relatively good on the market , its characteristic is wear-resistant, this kind of wheel is generally a double colored, so it will not damage the floor or carpet. if use good wheels chair, smooth. Do not let the carpet to adapt to the chair, but the chair to adapt to the carpet, sliding noise is small, it will cost as much as 50% more than the average cost of a single color wheel, it will not restrict the use of carpet material
Q: I know nothing of carpet, but I need to get carpet... I got a great deal on Shaw carpet, 55 oz. Is this good? Thanks!
shaw carpet is good carpet 55 oz is great the most important thing is to get the best is a 8lb padding. you can cut cost on carpet but if you use the standard crap padding it wont felt as nice and your carpet will last about half as long as it would using the good padding.
Q: Is professionally cleaning a FILTHY carpet enough or should it just be replaced?I am moving into a house with a FILTHY carpet. Truly disgusting, just nasty. The house stinks bad because of it. The landlord says he will get it professionally cleaned. I would rather have all the carpet taken out and replaced...or some other flooring put in. Is professionally cleaning a carpet that great of an idea? Does it only get the top surface clean..or does it clean deep down?
The landlord doesn't have to replace it, unless it smells. You won't know anything until it gets cleaned and is dry
