- Q: A thin wire connected to a light bulb will have the bulb shine dimmer than a thicker wire. What is the scientific reasoning for this?
- Thin wires are usually used to make heat because there is more resistance going through a thin wire. In an incandesent bulb 60% OF THE OUTPUT IS HEAT. If thee is thicker wire, more electrons go through and the light can be brighter.
- Q: I wanted to ask, im busy installing a new stereo headset for my car, when i replaced the old stereo with the new one, i used the wire harness from the old stereo and joint the wires to the back of new the stereo (which there is another black adapter that goes in the wire harness area on the the new stereo) i did this by connecting the wires from the stereo adapter to the wire harness that connects to the car, although the adapter that connects to the stereo has more wires than the wire harness that connects to the car,( i only connected the wires that were matching such as grey wire to grey wire, grey wire with black strip to grey wire with black strip, and so on, i obviously didn't connect the colours that didn't match to the wire harness wires, although i looked up online and apparently the yellow wire is a power wire, but i don't know where to connect it......if anyone could help, this would be greatly appreciated , i also wanted to ask, would this solve the problem if i buy a new wire harness? Thanks
- What kind of car is it? That's important, especially if it's a foreign make because those wires are so weird colored. Typically, yellow or ornage is power, red is memory, and the purple, gray, white, green wires are for the speakers .Black or brown wires are ground. Any blue wires you might come across are mainly just auxiliary signal wires that go to an aftermarket amp and subwoofer setup. Unless you have something like that, those wires can be taped off and forgotten about. Also, when wiring an aftermarket radio to your car, you will need to purchase an adapter harness that plugs into the stock wiring of the car and the wires connect to the radio wire harness correspondingly. I suggest soldering all the necessary wires and sealing them with shrink tube. It's the most solid, most sure way of a good connection without the worry of shorts and disconnections.
- Q: my dogs have chewed my central air contactor wire.my ac will not cut on. does anyone knows how to replace them and where to buy replacement wires locally( i live in Dallas TX.) i would like to do it myself instead of spending a lot of money.
- This should be copper wire and a splice could be made with little risk since the thermostat is a low voltage circuit in most cases. Try the local HVAC contractor for some of the type you need. There are different types ( number of conductors) for different controllers so they need to match. If you just have the HVAC contractor do a fall service on the system they can make the needed repairs and prepare the whole system for the winter. It was probably used a lot this last summer so a service is about due.
- Q: Is there anything else I could use to solder things without buying whole long spool of soldering wires? I mean like the wire inside the TV antenna cable from 99c store or nails and etc. ? Something I could use single time.
- If you could get a small spool of solder and flux from Menard, for plumbing that also works.
- Q: where also is fourth wire hooked in?
- If it is coming from the box at the street into your circuit breaker panel, I'll take a guess. Earth ground (Usually connected to a copper water pipe or a metal pole driven deep into the ground) Neutral (0V) +120 V (Most household circuits) +220 V (Dryers, stoves, possibly air conditioners and other devices needing lots of power. These have special plugs.) Unless you are ABSOLUTELY sure you know what you are doing (and it sounds from your question like you may not be) DO NOT mess around with mains wiring in your house and especially wiring coming into your house, since that isn't even on a surge protector to keep you even remotely safe. If you mess around with this stuff without knowing what you are doing, you could wind up DEAD or in the hospital VERY easily. I can't stress enough how dangerous electricity in large quantities is.
- Q: I need to get some wire to hook my capacitor to my amp and every wire I see says that it's power/ground cable wire. Does this mean it's power wire? Or ground wire? Or does it mean you can use it for both?
- you can use it for both same stuff
- Q: i would like to hook up a cd player in my dakota but i need a wire color diagram, anyboby no where or no the colors

- Q: I am wiring a GFCI receptacle with two regular receptacles after it.So before the GFCI I have my 12/2 wire from where it will hook into the box (the line side), after it I have my wire going to the two other receptacles (the load side).Well the GFCI receptacle has screw terminals for the line HOT and WHITE wires as well as a GROUND. On the bottom it has screw terminals for the load side but ONLY the HOT and WHITE, no ground screw.Does this mean that I don't hook up the ground for the load wire or does it mean I have to pigtail the ground to the same screw the line ground is using?I didn't want to assume that I connect the line and load grounds out of fear I was circumventing the GFCI.
- your concern could be dissimilar issues, in the beginning GFCI stands for floor fault circuit interuptor. so in case you have older wiring on your place and a steel field which you attempt to connect with interior the wall you're transforming into a twine touching it some the place (by way of a split interior the insulation the place the twine is bent it may additionally be the white twine) which could be a floor fault inflicting the gfci to holiday. your fixture ought to be defective. even no count if it is new additionally the black and white wires could come off the load facet of the gfci and not the line. is likewise it a gfci breaker interior the panel field or in straightforward terms a receptacle with the crimson and black buttons. the latter are often times very gentle, i've got seen 2 way radios holiday them by potential of keying the mic. it is beneficial to alter the receptacle if necessary.
- Q: how do you hook up a wired connection with xbox 360 if you have an wireless connection(the wire included with the 360)
- If you have a wireless connection it has to plug into a wired connection somewhere. I would just guess that you have a wireless router. There should be extra ports on your router for a wired connection(on the back of your router). You can buy a Linksys aftermarket wireless adapter for your 360 that will work on your wireless signal, or just buy the xbox version for $100. E-mail me if you have other questions, I am sure I can help if needed. I work for a communications company, and wireless and cabling is what I do all day long. If needed you can click on my profile and e-mail me from there.
