- Q:voltage regulater wires get hot when bike runs 86 yamaha v max. why do they do this?
- If the wire connectors at the regulator are corroded or not making a good connection, that can cause the wires to get hot. On my Kaw, I ended up having to remove the connectors and solder the ends together to keep them from getting hot enough to melt the plastic surrounding the connectors.
- Q:Why are some wires (especially thin ones, like ones connecting a battery pack in a toy) made up of many wires instead of just being one solid piece of metal?
- Easier to bend the wire without breaking.
- Q:I have a new light fixture I am trying to install. The electrical box has two sets of black and white wires coming in. Both of the black wires are connected together while the white wires from either set were used to connect the old fixture. How should I wire in the new fixture. The switch for this light has only one set of black and white wires connected to the light switch.
- Identify the wiring so you have the power feed and the switch leg and then put some black tape on the white wire going to the switch. This should be connected to the black power feed and then the white from the power feed is connected to the white of the fixture and the black from the switch leg is connected to the black of the fixture.
- Q:Ok You know the speaker wires that go to the back of the subwoofer? The metal part that comes out of the wire came out of the wire, and it makes a funny sound or no sound at all. How can I fix this? Also, I cut the wire and put the copper wires into the subwoofer, it works so so, any sugestions? lew
- Connection to a subwoofer is either bare wires or rca type jack (male end) and are eith plug to the rca jack (female) or a screw post for the wires. From the sound of it you are using the rca type, it is is just buy a new one the are inexpensive to replace. You need to have a good solid connection for you sub. Hope this helps.
- Q:Where is itI have a 1996 Honda Accord with a pioneer deh-p6400 head unit. I tried to install an amp. Held the ground to soem metal and tried to get it to turn on. I tried the power antennae wire and it didnt' work. Nothing seems to work. I dont want to splice any wires or anything
- The pioneer head unit should have a 'remote' wire that is energized while the head unit is turned on. you could also tap a fuse that is energized while the key is in the on position, such as the windshild wipers, or the pwr window fuse. Then the amp will come on whenever the kar is turned on.
- Q:I just installed a Unity Spotlight on my 2007 Chevy Impala. There's a 6 inch wire coming out of the handle. When I stripped the wire there is a few strands of copper wire. How do I wire up the light? There isn't a distinct positive or negative.
- I okorder /... check out literature for others, if this don't help.
- Q:when installing two subwoofers to an amp, can just normal speaker wires work or do I need any special wires to hook the subs to the amp?
- 12 gg or 14 gg is ok for normal use for best performance use 8gg or 6gg wire depending on wether you are running them single or doubled up IE; Bridging amp amp+ to sp1+ amp- to sp1 - or amp+ to sp1+ to sp2+ amp- to sp1 - to sp2- Will give you 2 ohm if your amp is 2 ohm stable or Recommended for best sound Quality amp+ to sp1+ sp1- to sp2+ sp2- to amp- Will give you 8 ohm and Peak at 4 ohm at max power Are your subs single or dual voice coil
- Q:I have 2 wires coming up a conduit. i need to put those wires into a timer and then to my pump. can anyone explain or has a website with diagrams
- The timer is just like a light switch, The hot from the power source (black wire) goes to one side of the timer. From the other side of the time it takes a wire to go to the pump. The white (neutral) goes from the power source to the pump. Provided this is 120 volts.
- Q:Hello! I'm going to re-wire my speakers and eventually get an amp to power them. For normal quot;door speakerswhat wire size would you recomend to run to them from an amp? Also, is 3ft far enough away to run my speaker wires from the amp power wire? Thanks in advance!
- I would use 16 gauge. you can go a little bigger, or smaller. The biggest issue you will have ( vehicle depending ) is getting that wire thru your accordion boot and molex ( the rubber thingy that protects your wires, shaped like an S, and goes from the chassis to the door) <~ that's not talking down to you, but if other people read this, they will know exactly what it means also :D Unless your running a ton of power to your doors, you really don't need thick wires. As to the other part, It's not the speaker wire you need to keep away from your power wire, it's your RCA cables.. The rule is power wire goes down the battery side of the vehicle, and the rca's and remote turn on, go down the opposite side, if possible. That way you don't get alternator whine( when you accelerate, a high pitched whine will play thru your system, and make you Bat-S#it crazy :) Good Luck!

- Hello there George, It has become common over the past few years that non-residential boilers are wired with EPO (emergency, power off) switches just outside each door to the boiler room. This is similar to having fire alarm pull boxes by the exits. I do not know of any jurisdiction that requires it for a residence. On occassion I've seen the 24 volt circuit for the thermostat being switched, which is a bit sketchy. Normally the 120 volt circuit for the controller is switched. The switches used are of the pushbutton type.
