Q: I have a grounding wire for my HIDs which I need to increase the length for. How do I do this?
Get a length of wire the same gauge or larger than the original wire. Solder the wire to the old wire and run it to a good ground. If you can't get it soldered a crimp connector will work, but not a good idea under the hood of a car, temporary at best
Q: Does lime wire add a lot of pop-ups and slow down your computer?
Yes it does. Those are called Malware, for malicious software. 1 in 9 downloaded files are malware, or have some type of virus in them, or are just a virus by themselves.
Q: my internet wont pick up my wireless adapter thing now, because the internet box was reseted. How can I change it to wired?
Depending on your setup, you'll need to connect your Xbox and router (internet box) with an ethernet cable
Q: siting on a roof and the wire is running into the house, what if you touch it?
It depends on the wire. If it is athe AC power to your house, it could be dangerouse if there is a break in the insulation on the wire. If it is phone or cable it is is pretty benign.
Q: I have noticed that a room in my house is improperly grounded, and it needs to be redone. We do know that most of the wiring is made with a single core, copper wire. Would there be a hazard with using a multi core (speaker) wire for the grounding, or should we do the wiring with a single core wire.
multi-stranded wire is used when flexibility is needed such as pulling a wire through a conduit with multiple bends, the wire size depends on how many amps there will be and you circuit breaker must be sized correctly. NO!! you cannot use speaker wire because the insulation on the wire is not made for the higher voltage, a speaker may use around 24V while a home uses 120V or 240V. yes you can use multi-stranded wire in the same manner you use solid core as long as it is sized correctly for the amperage and over-current protection device (circuit breaker or fuse).... and the insulation type depends on the location and voltage it will be used for, for homes there is not much to worry about, but if it will be used around chemicals, oils or other petroleum products... or for high voltages the insulation type must be chosen accordingly.... solid core is easier to work with in a residential home because it holds its shape when running through joists or going around a bend.... stranded wire would almost act like wet spaghetti and need to be secured more than required by code and is normally contained in some type of conduit.
Q: im gettin a amp and sub for my car and was wondering how would i make a wiring kit for it ... i have basic knolage of wires but thats about it thanks in advance
the wiring kit is usually: - low gauge cable of certain length (x2) - rca cable of a certain length (x1) - small power connect cable (x1) seeing as these things are already pretty much in their simplest form, I don't see the practicality of making your own wiring kit. just buy one.
Q: I removed a dishwasher and now the wires are exposed. I turned off the circuit to that outlet. I am planning on waiting a while to replace the dishwasher. I want to turn the circuit back on so I can use the other outlets, but don't want to leave the wires exposed. Any ideas?
There are little caps that twist on to wires for just that purpose. Go to any hardware store and explain the problem. they will give you what you need and tell you just how to use them. Once capped, you can use the other outlets with no danger. Duct tape will work temporarily, if you wrap each one separately and make sure they don*t touch each other.

Q: i just got two new aiwa stereo speaker's they come with their own wiring in the back but i dont know which wire is whatthere is one black wireand there is another black with gray dashesim thinking the one with dashes is positive?the speaker works both ways
Chances are the marked wire is positive. For your purposes it doesn't matter a whole lot. The phasing (which DOES matter) will be correct as long as you are consistent with both speakers. If you can remove the front grill or otherwise see the speaker cone directly, you can check the polarity with a AA or other 1-1/2 volt battery. The cone will move forward when the positive wire is *briefly* touched to the positive terminal of the battery while the negative wire is held on the negative terminal. If you see it move back, you've connected the wires in reverse. Don
Q: We bought a used 2004 Chevy Venture that is a cargo style van... it only had a radio in it. So we just bought a Sony car stereo with a cd player to install in it. However, we are having trouble locating the correct wiring harness for the 2004 Venture. We've bought two already for GM vehicles that should technically work for the year of our van, but they do not work. One salesman told us we needed a very expensive wiring harness because it controls the airbags and other electrical gadgets (but they didn't sell it at his store... he said to look online). I've looked online and can't find anything. Would we be better hardwiring it OR does anyone have any experience with a situation like this? Thanks!
