- Q: I am moving a stove that has four wires - bare copper (ground), red, white, and black. The location I am putting it in only has three wires - red, white, and black. Can I just ignore the ground on the new location since it doesn't have one? Or should I cross one of the other wires with the ground?
- Your four-wire stove has a terminal where you can connect the bare/green and white wires together, most have a jumper to connect the two terminals. You don't want to leave any wires unconnected. The other two wires (red black) are connected the same way between 3-wire and 4-wire units. You'll have to buy a 3-wire cable for your stove to plug it into the 3-wire receptacle. The new code requires 4-wire connections. The bare/green wire and the white neutral wire are run back to the circuit breaker panel separately at which point the are connected together on a buss bar.
- Q: I'm trying to wire a Sony L410X stereo to my 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500. I don't want to use a wiring harness, so I'm trying to figure out how to splice the wires together. I don't know how to hook the power wires up correctly. Obviously hooking the speakers up will be easy. I've tried looking at the wiring diagram but it seems like on the stereo system diagram it's positive and negative whereas the truck wiring is not identifying the negative wiring, just 12v+ Constant and 12v+ Switching. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
- i'm having concern visualizing precisely what you're seeing. If I understand you wisely the wires popping out of the ceiling could be as follows; thick yellow/green cable is maximum probable the ceiling floor and in all hazard linked to the ceiling container via a screw? uncertain relating to the yellow cord, in all hazard useful, however the crimson and blue could be useful and the black adverse. the reason for various wires is your place is in all hazard pre-under pressure for a ceiling fan. many times the blue cord is going to the fan and is controlled via a separate change, and then many times a white or crimson cord for the useful for the gentle; back, controlled via a separate change. Black would desire to consistently be adverse. i do no longer understand why your gentle has such extremely some diverse wires even with the undeniable fact that? many times in elementary terms a favorable and adverse till you have diverse lights you like controlled via diverse switches? perhaps the link below would be extra counsel...
- Q: Hi,I'm looking to change the outlets and the switch and light fixture in a bedroom of a home built in 1948. The outlets are original to the home I think. Will I have to fish ground wire throught to the panel box for my new receptacles? Or just install new 2 slot outlets? Why the different looking wires? Is the older wire copper with a silver colored coating to indicate being neutral or is this an old aluminum wire? The hot wire is red plastic coated and looks modern to me.
- In '48 your house won't have a ground wire as you found out. If it is wired with BX cable ( metal clad) you can see in the basement or crawl space, the ground is actually taken to the outlet by the metallic casing. Then all you would have to do is get a bag of ground wires with screws already crimped on them at Home Depot called Greenies. You screw them into one of the holes inside the box and attach the other end to the ground screw on the switch or outlet. The red casing you are describing actually sounds like red electrical tape wrapped around deteriorating wire in the box as the other wire looks raggy. The wire you see that looks aluminum MAY be aluminum someone added in the '70's when al wire was used, but BOTH would be replaced and there would have been a ground wire. I don't know why it looks silver, but I have seen old wiring like that and it is usually copper. If you see the BX cable you are good adding the ground wire, if it is a silvery looking cloth casing, then install new NON-grounded receptacles.
- Q: Does anyone know what color the neutral safety wire is on a 1995 suburban? The one in the ignition harness.
- The yellow wire on the ignition switch harness goes to the transmission range switch (aka park/neutral safety switch) on the transmission, and then the purple wire on the transmission range switch goes to the starter solenoid.
- Q: What are the types of Barbed wires?
- Barbed wire is a sharp, twisted form of wire which is used mainly for protection and containment. Barbed wire is twisted at various stages to create sharp points which can create an instant injury if scaled. There are several different types of barbed wire. Classic Classic barbed wire is also the cheapest available. It is made of either steel or aluminum. The wire is twisted at sequential stages to create sharp points. Classic barbed wire will be used to keep animals in a specific area or to keep people away from a protected area. Razor Wire Razor barbed wire is used to line the walls of prisons and containment facilities. This wire is made by cutting large strips of aluminum with a sharp triangular blade on each side of the wire strip. These blades are extremely sharp. They are intended to cause much greater injury than a piece of classic barbed wire. Razor wire is often used to protect business premises from intruders. Spiral Spiral barbed wire is formed with a sharp blade running parallel to a piece of normal steel. This is then twisted into a spiral shape to create a long and continuous sharp edge to the wire. Spiral wire is often used for army exercises and for other containment or protection purposes. I hope this quite help u... thank u. :-)

- Q: I have a physics project and my teacher is saying that we should do a wire loop toy?? What the hell is that. Can anybody give me a example and how it is related to physics?? Pls answer back

- Q: i've got a GOTOH humbucker pick up and its only got a white and a bare wire. can someone tell me how to wire it or how it works. i'm making my own guitar and i need help with the wiring.
- The bare wire is usually ground. Solder that to the ground wire that you should have wired to the bridge, and also to the sleeve connection on the output jack. The insulated wire carries the signal. Depending on the configuration you are running, whether it be a single pickup, two pickups, and global controls or dedicated controls, this can go in different places. Let's say, hypothetically, that you are using a single pickup. Then, the signal wire would go straight to the Volume pot. The tone pot would be an offshoot of the volume, which tapers the high end. There are multiple ways to wire a tone pot, should you install one, and the wiper of the volume pot goes to the tip connection of the output jack. For more information, look at some pickup wiring guides. Seymour Duncan has a lot of good ones, if you go on their site and search.
