- Q: I just noticed a slight leak from my water pump. About the size of my fist. I called one mechanic and was told the 2001 BMW Z3's water pump seals are tight and do not leak with the car is running (engine is hot) but once the car cools the water pump seals expand resulting in the small leak, that I shouldn't worry about it unless it leaks more, the engine over-heats, or dash light turns on. The BMW said I should have the water pump replaced but he may have just said that to make a repair sale. Anyone out there know the truth?
- Rarely do BMW water pumps leak a lot. Most would not even leak when pressure-tested by a mechanic (for a few minutes). But a leaky pump would leak when the engine runs and specially when it is pressurized and allowed to sit overnight. Usually the seal itself does not cause the leak. It is the wornout bearing which allows the pump's shaft to wobble and thus allow coolant to leak. Overheating due to air getting inside the cooling system is big trouble. But bigger trouble still is a catastrophic failure due to failed/seized water pump bearings. Have it replaced. And the previous statement that your car is about due for hoses and thermostat replacement is correct. There is even a chance that the thermostat is allowing the cooling system to get over-pressurized and thus results in coolant leaks. Replacing the pump is good, replacing the thermostat in addition is better, replacing also the hoses is best. If you can afford it.
- Q: how to install a main pipe water pump to service the community?
- Installation of water pump is very easy, any certified plumber and electrician can install electric water pump. Your question maybe is, how to design water pump water system to service the community? To determine the correct rating of water pump to be used and to design a water system, here are the steps : 1) Determine the safe discharge yield of your well for your water source, by series of tests. This will enable you to know discharge rate of well and the draw back time of water after pumping. This data will be used for designing a pump (its discharge capacity). Note that pump discharge capacity should be lower than well safe yield capacity in order not to drain the well. 2) Determine the suction lift or height of water table in the well by measuring the height from water table up to the top of the well. This data will be used for pump design (its suction lift/height capacity). Pumps suction lift varies depends on its Horsepower capacity and the type of pump (submersibble or centrifugal). 3) Determine number of households in the community. This data will be used for the design of reservoir (tank) for your water system and the number of hours for the pump to operate to fill the tank. Note that the average usage of water is 120 liters per day per capita. So the more the number of population, the bigger the tank and the longer the pumping time in order to meet the per capita usage. 4) Determine the elevations from your water source towards the community to be served. Use survey instrument to determine the elevations. This data will be used to design a height of the tank and the sizes of service pipes towards the community. The higher the difference in elevation from your source towards community, the lower the height of the tank and the smaller the sizes of service pipes. Sizes of service pipes can be determined by hydraulic heads (heights). By following these steps, I gues you can now design and construct a water system.
- Q: Where is the water pump located on a 1993 mitsubishi eclipse with a 1.8 motor
- it is belt driven pulley near the center of engine, unless mitsu made that one timing belt driven in which case you can't see it with-out dissassembling front part of engine.
- Q: I think the water pump on my 40 hp mercury outboard 2 stroke is not working, the hole witch usually pours out all the water that was used to cool the engine does not pour any water at all. Is this a problem with the water pump? If not what?
- Well to start of, and two, A 25 hp does not have a water pump, like a car, it has am impeller driven by the out board motors gear system
- Q: I have a Goulds JPlus water pump inside my home. Last night, my wife and I heard it going on and off repeatedly when we went to bed. I have two shallow wells hooked up to it, so I switched wells even though I didn't believe the one I was on was dry (it was supplying H2O fine).Still no luck, so I turned it off at the breaker and shut off the valve between the tank and pressure switch. Today, the pump pressure gets to between 50 and 60, then goes off. It then loses pressure v ery quickly (approx 10-20 seconds) and goes back on when the pump switch hits the lower threshold. It sounds like the water is running back through the pump and out of the house when it goes off unless I turn the shut off valve I spoke of earlier. I changed the pressure switch and no difference.I can, however, turn it on and shower, flush, etc. I just then have to go down and turn the pump back off.Any help would be greatly appreciated!
- Do you have an air tank hooked to the pump? That is what usually holds pressure while the pump is off. It may have a leak in the bladder.
- Q: We have a 3-story (including ground floor) house. We have 2 bathrooms. We need to invest in a water pump to deliver water from ground floor to all floors + 2 reservoir tanks (one located on first floor, and the second tank located on the second floor).Which water pump do you recommend among these:(1) Valco 261PL or Valco 261PT(2) Davey HS50-05TI'd be MOST grateful if you could kindly advice me on any reliable brand that you know (apart the ones that I mentioned). We're basically looking for a very reliable pump up to around $700 (preferably less).BTW, according to you, what's the typical horsepower we should be looking for? Will 1hp suffice??Thank you very much!
- If I were you, I would be consulting several local plumbers to see what they recommend. They can give you much better information than any of us can.
- Q: I have a slight idea but I would like to see what steps other people have taken. I have a 1992 ford escort that needs a new water pump, what steps have you taken to replace it?
- It shouldn't in all probability take that long for a water pump. till they are changing the cam belt on the comparable time which could be greater like it. despite the fact that if ?40 an hour is slightly on the steep component. Get a cost from yet another storage or 2 for the comparable interest and see in case you will discover everywhere greater much less high priced
- Q: How to design its control circuit, to prevent it idling, what peripheral equipment do you need?
- The empty transfer of the centrifugal pump causes dry grinding, and the pump is overheated and seals out.Frequency control cabinet can be used to set their own frequency required job requirements, the external need is contact, is the pressure gauge
- Q: My dads needs a new water pump for his '83 Silverado v8, anyone have a DIY or a schematic or know of where I can find one? Maybe someone could tell me how. He's pretty handy with cars just doesn't know what needs to come off and in what order. -Thanks in advance!

- Q: i want to change the water pump on my on a 70 hp (70C) nissan outboard motor and i never pulled a lower unit, not sure what to expect thanks for any help
- hi you need to get the workshop manual for your motor. You can go to the library I am sure they will have one. The basics though... make sure you have a lower unit gaskey set, a full water pump rebuild kit and the correct impellor. You need the manual so that you can locate the correct bolts to loosen and the procedure for disconecting the gear shifting mechanism. With the manual its an easy job. without.. its kind of pot luck if you have never done it before. I have changed impellors and water pumps on many different boat motors and i have aways used the manuals. Even now I would still use the manual as a reference to change the impellor and water pump housing in my Johnson even though i have done it before. The manual will probily cost about $25 but it will save you hundreds in the long run as you will be able to trouble shoot other problems.
