Q: My boyfriend told me that my car needs a new water pump. He said this because when you start the car, it sounds like trickling water is coming from somewhere in the engine bay. The car overheated once before and he put coolant in it, ever since then, it hasn't overheated. But last week he told me that I shouldn't drive it at all because the pump is about to go. I went out today and started it to see if I can hear the quot;grindingnoise that I read about online and all I hear was the trickling sound. It's rainy outside so I can't tell if the pump is leaking water from the quot;weepquot;. Is it the water pump? I want to make a two mile round trip to go pick up sushi and the place is a mile there and a mile back. Will I seize my engine or get stranded if I make this tiny trip? Is it my water pump?
the water pump will be leaking if it's about to go. you shouldn't hear dripping but should be able to hear the bearings going, kind of like a griding noise. The only way you'd hear water dripping is it were running out lots and you'd have a puddle under the car. It is was over heating was the thermostat checked? shifting has nothing to do with a water pump. check under the car while running to see where the leak is. If you can hear it you should be able to see it. could be an easy fix like a radiator hose.
Q: What is the function of the pump?
To improve the liquid, conveying a liquid or liquid to increase the pressure, that is the original motive of the mechanical energy so as to achieve variable liquid liquid energy machine.
Q: I have a 99 Olds Intrigue With the 3.8L (Vin K) engine. I have a belt driven water pump, but i was wondering if there is a fuse or relay that is associated with this water pump. I remember knocking a fuse out on accident while changing my radiator and now the water pump appears to not be working
Sir,you appear to lack basic mechanical skills.Do not ever lift the hood of your car again.
Q: I have a 94 Mazda b2300 it was working great last week then all the sudden it started making a knocking sound and started to overheat! Its still drivable but it overheats if i go far! A friend told me it can be the Water Pump so i put a new one, I was told it can be the Thermostat so i had a new one put in. It worked for awhile but began overheating again. My truck is my livelihood so its important i get it fixed! I cant afford a mechanic but just asking to see if anyone knows what it could possibly be? It catches good and the engine sounds strong but it keeps overheating!
Tell your friend thanks bot no thanks for any more automotive advise. If you had checked your upper radiator hose for HEAT with the engine running 20 minutes you didn't need a thermostat or a water-pump. Lets do things in the order of cost and effectiveness: #1. Ask a trusted private mechanic to do an inexpensive *cooling system pressure test to see if you have any external or internal coolant leaks. #2. Replace the electrical temperature sensor in the water-jacket. #3. Cooling systems need to be drained flushed and *cleaned every five years. When was yours done last? #4. You're five years overdue for a new radiator even with the best of cooling system care. When was the last time that your cooling system has been drained. flushed and cleaned with a one part powered acid cleaner? By now, your five years overdue for a new radiator
Q: explain the operation of a water pump....?
Water pumps are available in different types. 1. Centrifugal type: Operate by increasing the velocity of water which, when the velocity is decreased by the Volute casing, the pressure increases. 2. Rotary Gear type.: Operate by Displacement of the water by rotating, gears that trap water between the teeth of 2 rotors of inter-meshing gears that release the water at a higher pressure on the opposite side of the pump to the intake. 3. Piston (reciprocating type: Also a displacement operation by a piston moving backwards and forwards within a cylinder (like a hypodermic syringe in operation). Back stroke takes water into the cylinder and forward stroke discharges it at a higher pressure. (Double acting types are also used that take in and discharge alternately from both ends).
Q: i started backing out of my garage and something sounded like it poped then lots of steam started coming out and water was on the ground on the right side of the car non on the left and the water pump needle in my car is all the way to the red can some one help me
everytime you spill on your computing gadget you need to right this moment turn it off, unplug it, take out the battery and permit it dry for each week. reckoning on how your computing gadget is outfitted you are going to be waiting to get rid of the keyboard without entering your computing gadget. in case you're able to do it, i could recommend that. If no longer, in basic terms depart them be.
Q: I just bought a house a little more then a month ago and just received my first electric bill and it's OUTRAGEOUS!! I have a feeling my electric pump is doing most of my water heating which I found out it is (currently it's on 24 hours a day .. I didn't know). Now, I called a solar company in my area that deals with Hartell pumps, they said if the Hartell pump is working, it should be vibrating .. mines is not .. are they correct? They also said it only works when the sun is out, so by evening, I have to switch on my electric water heater. I'm just checking to see if I'm receiving the correct information before I time my electric water heater .. since every other local solar company I called are unfamiliar with Hartell pumps.
OK, well your question is a bit confusing and I am not sure if it is because you don't understand how your system works. Your hartell pump pumps water. It does not produce heat. Your water heater heats water. It is a backup to your solar panel system. If on the other hand you have a heat pump as a back up source of heat this could be an entirely different matter and you are best at providing a model number which should be stamped on the part. We need to start again. Is your system for solar hot water or for general heating? Is it a system in a cold climate where freezing is an issue. Is it a pump down system or a system that circulates antifreeze in the solar loop. The reason all this is significant is that if you are paying a lot in electricity then something is not working. The first question has to be is it a design problem, a mechanical problem or an operational problem. You may need more hot water storage or more solar panels, you may need to replace parts, or you may simply need to turn the right valves (This would be the case where you have a grounding loop to keep the solar panels from overheating in the summer.)
Q: When my wife was driving on freeway, the alternator belt broke and battery sign showed up. She also told that the temperature gauze showed high. Luckily she reached home with the battery fully charged. When I checked under hood, there was coolant spill surrounding water pump . I could not figure out where the coolant came from. Overnight parking did not show any further leakage of coolant. is there a need to change the water pump also.
For one thing. Once the belt breaks your battery light will come on because the alternator can't charge the battery anymore and also your car will overheat if you have a serpentine belt because once the belt is broke nothing will move anymore including your water pump. Your leak probably came from the overflow tank which is normal when a car overheats. You don't seem to know much about cars so I assume that you really don't know where the water pump is. Change the belt and than hope to god that she didn't run the car to long while it was hot to crack the head gasket . oh and make sure you add enough coolant back to the cooling system before you start the car again
Q: How to design its control circuit, to prevent it idling, what peripheral equipment do you need?
The centrifugal pump can not be idle, idle will wear packing (packing seal, mechanical seal is almost not damaged) parts, also caused the seal ring, seal, etc. the balance disc wear quickly, and the temperature will rise sharply, causing damage; air transfer effects caused by transient overload voltage of the motor is large, if the motor can not automatically jump to motor will burn.Centrifugal pump mostly rely on the delivery of liquid lubrication and cooling seal of centrifugal pump, idling is empty load, is to open the inlet valve, close the exit valve operation can move, try reversing or empty load operation should be based on the inevitable time, pump specification shall prevail.
Q: I've never had overheating problems before, (although the heating itself never worked great) but today the gauge suddenly spiked while driving at about 50mph. I pulled over and steam was coming off the engine and the cooland tank was bubbling. The coolant was low, but not empty. I put some water in the coolant tank, let the engine cool and drove to a gas station where I got some coolant which I mixed with the water in the coolant tank. That didn't seem to help any. Even after letting the engine cool completely, it spikes after less than five minutes of driving. The radiator and both top and bottom hoses are equally hot. When I tried to start the engine with the radiator cap off, cooland shoots up out the top. The fans are working propely and there is no debris on the front of the radiator. So I'm sort of at a loss. Also, I've had some trouble starting since the problem.
Hi so your issue is most likely the radiator cap as well over time the spring in the lid of the cap which retains pressure becomes weak over time.
