Q: I am remodeling a room and have decided to put in a chair rail. If you increase rotor mass, you increase anglur momentum - they are linearly related so increase the mass by 10% will increase the angular momentum by 10% assuming the same rotor speed. If you increase the mass andthen repreat the experiment, you'll find the chair will turn faster than in th eprevious trial due to the increase in angular momentum.

So I was wondering how important is it REALLY?Did you/do you really use yours with your new born?: Both my kids have rocking chairs in their rooms. I wouldn't classify it as critical but they are nice to have if you have the room. I didn't use them a lot when my kids were newborn, mainly because I preferred nursing on the couch or in bed. But my son is now almost 4 and still has a rocking chair in his room, for seating. If you get a simple wooden one, it could always be used in another room later on. EDIT TO ADD: My son's rocker was given to us by my mother in law, my daughter's was bought for us by my mom at Babies R Us for $110.

Q: What are the possible ways I could use to finish my chair.. oil, varnish, ...? and what are the advantages of each of them, are they cheap, etc?: I would not use oil since it could ruin someones clothes. Varnish or Poly is best. Shellac turns yellow with time. All cost about the same.
