Q: I have a rocking chair that i'd like to convert to a gliding rocking chair.: It would almost be easier to build a new chair but here goes. OK if it is a basic rocking chair you just need to get the swinging hardware and build a base. the problem is that; does the original chair have strong enough legs that when you drill them etc to install the hard ware will it remain strong enough to continue to support weight and keep its structural integrity. This is hard to explain in words. If you look at gliders they have the chair with sides/legs that come down to connect to a hanger (Usually metal) that goes back up to a base, and each end of the connection has bearings to let it turn easier. your just have to build a base that will be big enough and attach the hangers (which would be best to just buy) to the chair legs. I cant give more that directional support over typing but if you would like contact me with specifications for the chair and exactly what you want to do with it, and what tools are at your disposal.

Q: I was looking at beany bags, but I saw that they were a bit pricey. So I'm looking for like funky chairs that will look good in a like room. My room theme's gunna be 'just chill' so Like a comfy and relaxable chair that is pretty funkyy (: Any ideas?: My favorite chairs that I ever bought for my bedroom when I was a teenager were these two vintage lime green suede-y chairs that I found at goodwill in perfect condition! They're still in great condition and now my 17 year old sister has them in her room! I got them for $10 each. I recommend keeping an eye out at any 2nd hand stores- you'd be surprised how awesome some of the stuff they get can be. (Don't forget craigslist and OKorder- just don't go by yourself to pick up anything you find off craigslist- too many scary people out there.) You have to check pretty regularly though because the good stuff doesn't sit in the store for very long and the stuff that is most likely to be there is the icky stained crap that you won't want. Also, have you thought of purchasing some brightly colored big throw pillows? You can throw them around the room to sit on or lean against the wall with. Or if you have an empty corner, you could fill it with throw pillows instead of a chair. Ikea has some great square ones (they call them cushions but they look like pillows) that are plain white, and then they sell covers to go over them so you can get a variety and remove and wash them when they get dirty. Plus the styles and colors of the covers change pretty regularly so if your tastes change you can easily replace the covers. For that matter- Ikea has some pretty funky chairs too, and they're usually reasonably priced, but they're not always the most comfortable.

Q: I didn't lose all that much weight, mind. But without that little bit of natural padding, my butt and legs get really really sore very quickly from sitting in my office chair. I'll admit, it was the cheapest office chair they had, but this was never a problem before. What should I do about this? Should I get a better chair, or just like a cushion or something?: Get a new chair. A good chair is important. Do NOT skimp on a chair if you plan on working in it. Don't break the bank, but don't skimp. Same is true for shoes, flooring, kitchen knives or anything you need on a daily basis. Cheap things are cheap for a reason. My parents taught me long ago to get nice things, keep them a long time and spend the money once. You'll be happier and it is less expensive in the long run. That said, price can be indicative of quality, but it is never a MEASURE of quality. A $60 chair probably won't fit well or last long. A $500 dollar chair is a rip off or some art-deco thing that doesn't aid your comfort any. Shop around and you'll find something.

Q: I've play flute for 8 years now, piccolo for 6. Last year when playing for chairs I got 2nd chair. I got absolutely no solos nor piccolo parts. Being my sophomore year, I didn't mind all that much. Our flute section leader was first chair. Now this year she is drum major. We played for chair with a new band director and I got 2nd chair once again, while she got 1st. I've asked to challenge but I don't know if I will be allowed to or not. When I asked last year I was gently told no. Saying all that, every time we have played for chairs I knew for a fact that I could easily beat her and become 1st chair but the band directors keep giving me 2nd. I don't know what to do. I know for a fact she's planing on once again not giving me any solos nor piccolo parts. It's really bumming me down. What should I do?: resentment gets you nowhere. Suck it up and be nice. Q: So, a friend and I are in the middle of a pointless debate. Which would cause more damage, being hit by a chair or a human? We are assuming a human mass of about 77Kg and a chair mass of about 5kg. Both being swung at the the same velocity (about 20 m/s). I said the human because it has about 17 times more mass and momentum.Please set the record straight.: Depends if the human has boobs or not, could be natural cushions so you got to consider that in there =)

Q: How old is your child?My son is 3 and I still rock him in a rocking chair or recliner. I really think that over 5 years of age is too old to rock in a rocking chair.Every night I rock him in a rocking chair, tell him a story, sing him a song, and kiss him while patting his bottom to sleep.
