- Q:When my mom was a toddler, she had a rocking chair. When I was a toddler, it was my chair. My little sister never used it because she never stayed over at our grandma's house, where it was kept. When I was a little older, it was my dolls' chair. Now my sister has a son, and my mom wants to give her the chair for him. I dont begrudge my nephew anything, but his mom never learned to take care of things--she breaks everything she touches. Plus I had wanted to give it to my own kids someday. So what do you think? Whose chair is it?
- If I was in your shoes, I imagine I'd say to my Mom: IF (your other daughter) had a history of showing appreciation for heirlooms things, I would consider giving them the chair. However, everything she's ever had has been ruined by neglect or misuse. Let's get (her grandson) his own rocking chair . . . and consider insisting on paying for it yourself, or at least contributing towards it. I think that would be the best route to take. Hopefully your mom doesn't get her feathers wrinkled too easily. You are the one with the sentimental attachment to it, so --I feel-- probably ought to be allowed to keep it. Plus . . . If your grandmother gave it to you --or, if your mother once gave it to you-- it is still yours. Parents often give their kids things with 'strings attached' --in their hearts-- that the children don't learn about until later . . . and feel that as long as they are alive it is their 'call' who gets possession of said gifts at any given time. Hopefully your mom is more understanding than that! Talk to your mom about your feelings . . . all of them . . . but do so with gentle tact --even if it is already technically otherwise yours-- so she will know the reasons behind your desire to keep it. That may help her to accept it. Especially if you are gung ho to get the boy his *own* rocking chair.
- Q:I hear all the time that a chair seat is improper when riding a horse. I've seen pictures of what it looks like, so I feel like I have a general idea. However, I see riders constantly that ride with what I would associate with a chair seat. Most of the time, this is in western riding - and even western riders that are successfully competing. Sometimes the seat is really extreme. Now, I know there are differences between western and english riding, but I was always under the impression that a chair seat is bad because the rider has less control and it puts pressure on sensitive areas of the horses back. Does the western saddle just distribute the weight better?I'm not incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to horses, but I have ridden on occasion. I personally prefer to have my legs under me more as I feel like I have better balance and more control over what I am doing. So, what am I missing?
- I cannot answer for certain, but I can give what I have experienced. I ride with a slight chair seat (not as bad as I used to, but my legs basically won't allow me to get my legs perfectly beneath me while not standing in the stirrups, joints won't let me at this moment). I actually feel like I have better shoulder control, especially with horses in training, when I have a slight chair seat due to my legs being closer to the horses shoulder and I have a deeper seat (I've never found a horse to be in pain due to chair seat, now I ride gaited horses so we don't trot, it may be different if you do have to trot) which allows for better seat signals (in my experience).
- Q:My wife bought a dining room set long before we met. Today, one of the chairs just broke. I like the set, and I'd like to replace the chair. Any clues where I might start looking? The chair was purchased as part of a 5-piece set at a Kroger in Knoxville, TN. It's not a great set, but it's decent-looking. I'd hate to purchase a new set just for a chair. Underneath each piece is a sticker:Made in ChinaCCLF08 OF747I have NO idea what this is. I don't expect anyone to know where to FIND such an item. I just want some ideas how to start. Google searches yield limited results. Thanks!
- take some photos of a good chair and go shopping at the furniture stores ... one of those stores will help you locate a chair that will look close to the others ... and quit throwing furniture ... SERIOUSLY .... a small and independent furniture deale
- Q:I want a bean bag chair but not a small one i want a pretty big one. If you can help me out with a link to one ill give you 5 stars 4 the best answer.
- walmarts website has a good selection
- Q:I recently bought this chair from a furniture dealer in South-East London. Got a good offer and bought the chair purely on aesthetic value
- The chair design is called a four back ladder chair because of the four horizontal slats on the back. I want to say that it came from Denmark based on the curved seat design, possibly a Hans Wegner, but I really don't know that for sure. I would guess it's from the mid to late 50's.
- Q:Another friend suggested renting wood folding padded chairs. It is more cost effective however, now it comes down to choosing a color.
- Is that price for the covers and sashes? If it is then rent the just the covers and make the sashes yourself they are easy to do and will save you money. If you have a relative that can work a sewing machine you can make both the covers and the sashes but this will cost you about half the rental for that many chairs however the up side here is if they work good you can take tons of pictures and the measurements and auction them off on OKorder or some other site and get your money back or more depending if you sale all together or in three lots of fifty.
- Q:I heard they just announced a chairs match coming soon and I wonder what's a chairs match. Is it like No DQ?
- Its basically a match where you can use chairs.
- Q:Lookig for a new desk chair and seen one i like but theres a lot of plastic parts on it mainly the legs. Woundering if its a big deal or just a strong as metal legs ?
- I'm sitting on a leather office desk chair that I purchased at Office Depot 10 years ago and have had absolutely no stability problems, breakage or durability problems with the plastic coasters or the the base to which they are attached. The secretary chair which is upholstered is over 15 years old has plastic feet and coasters and hasn't had any issues either. We are very hard on our office furniture and have found plastic to be easy to keep clean and just as durable as metal (which in our case rusted over time on a metal based and castored wingbacked office chair we once had).
- Q:My computer chair just busted after only having it for like 6 months, and im looking to get a new one. Im 61 195 so im pretty big it has to be pretty fort is also a huge deal for me.must be under $500 too im not made of moneyany suggestions ?
- I got a nice one for my husband, who is 6'2, at Sam's Club.
