- I'm actually in Dallas, TX, but a great way to find a reputable carpet cleaner is to go to iicrc.org, put in the area, and it will pop out names and numbers of certified carpet cleaners close by. The IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification) trains and certifies carpet cleaners worldwide.
- Q: I had to pull back the carpet in my hallway. How do I get the edges back down smoothe along the walls? There are strips of carpet tacs.
- Normally, carpet installers will use a carpet stretcher to stretch the carpet over the tack strips. The lease expensive option is to try to stretch the carpet by hand and then push it down onto the tack strip. Careful not to stick yourself. The tack strip does not need to be replaced as long as it is still securely attached to the floor. You could also use a staple gun and staple the edge of the carpet down (past the tack strip). A more expensive option is to rent a carpet stretcher at home depot or buy a knee kicker ($80) that you can use to stretch the carpet back in place. I dont think it's necessary though.
- Q: I currently operate a rug store that sells almost all persian rugs in Santa Rosa California (in the San Fransisco bay area). Operation is rather stable but I have two issues.1. I sell high quality rugs and hence the prices are more expensive reflecting the quality. However, many customers can find designs similar to mine on the internet at 1/3 to 1/4 of the price. (internet is 600, mine are 3000). If you put the rugs side by side you can DEFINATELY tell the drastic difference in quality. How should I cope with this?2. - You sell such a luxury item that your client base is much smaller. You have to infiltrate the market by showing that you have great taste and an eye for quality. Get a couple of high profile (rich, important, and powerful) clients and then word of mouth should help you immensely. It is all public relations. Hire a specialist if you must. Buy one of the cheaper rugs and have it on display (don't be real in your face with it-put it in a corner so that you can direct people to it if you need to make the point-keep the receipt on display and be genuine. Personally, I bought a handmade rug from Iran (I can immediately tell that it is better quality than whatever they sell at retail stores for twice the price (I bought it for $300 with shipping on OKorder). It is a low psi (120) with a thicker wool and some low pile, but you must remember that most people intend to have furniture, children, and feet on their rugs. I don't mind the lower quality because I don't feel the pressure of keeping it pristine when I bought it for function (then beauty). If you wanted to expand your client base you could open a seperate place that dealt with the more affordable and function driven rugs that would cost under $1000, but still be better quality than synthetic machine woven options. The question im having is quot;Is it necessary to have the carpet replaced?quot; I have a two year old, and after doing some research I learned that mold could build up, which is something I dont want.Also when the maintenance people came they tracked my carpet with mud and who knows what else when trying to fix my washer.My apartment wont just give me new carpet so Im trying to get some advice in whether or not I should fight for new carpet.

- Q: Besides vacuuming, how do you maintain white carpeting? Personally I have found that using a storebought steamer makes my carpets look dingier. A person I knew at one time told me about a dry cleaning method using some kind of powder. She told me she rented the equipment and it only cost about thirty dollars. - Q: Kids took natural fiber rug outside while cleaning hardwood floors. Boom - Super thunderstorm. Next day rug is soaked, its not looking good at all. is there anything I can do to recover it? After a day or two in the sun trying to dry it out one spot near edge is beginning to grow mold. Can I save it?
- See if you can clean on both sides, get rid if the mold and hang it over a clothes line. You might need several clothes poles to support the weight, then pray for some dry weather until it is dry.

- About humidity, then I suggest you lift a piece to wipe around the water leakage places, or your air conditioning pipes have water leakage for a long time, if the seal equipment is good, then there is nothing. If there is paint, it's ok

- yes, a carpet installer can patch it if there can be found a piece of carpet that closely matches it.if you can get it at a carpet store that would be the best,otherwise you can take a piece out of a bedroom closet or somewhere it won't be as noticeable.you can do it yourself but it is very complicated to explain on here.basically it is like a patch.
