Q: that keeps shedding. it's a wool rug and I love it, but I just bought it and it shed shed sheds all over the place. What to do to stop the shedding.....or will it just continue forever?
Hi, This is a natural process of wool rugs shedding loose fibers from the weaving process. It will not hurt your rug just may be a little annoying but the great qualities of wool will make up for that. You may have to vacuum more often 2 or 3 times a week for a year or less until the shedding stops. If the rug is a longer pile like a flokati rug you can rake it with a garden rake (preferable wood or plastic) or uses a wide tooth brush or pet brush to brush it. Hope this helps and hang in there with the shedding!
Q: If landlord was to replace carpet with our security deposit does it, by some type of law or anything in Florida, have to be of equal or lesser value than the carpet originally in there? Or can he just get really fancy carpet and charge us up the ***?
Replaced carpet has to be reasonably same quality carpet. Since you have no knowledge of what was paid, the quality/pile/density, etc. there's really no way you could argue this. But generally if a renter is the type of person that damaged a carpet enough to need replacing, they shouldn't be arguing the matter anyway. These kinds of renters either have kids or animals that have destroyed it, or they themselves did it and had no regard for what happened afterward. In such a case there's really no one that would blame a landlord for anything he'd do to fix the place up afterward. Don't let yourself be one of those types of renters. It's supposed to be your home albeit temporary...it's not an animal crate.
Q: We've lived in our house for almost two years and have the most annoying rug in the living room. It sheds constantly and it's like having a pet! I'm getting really sick of it as don't like putting my baby son down on the floor to play as he ends up covered in white fibres and if they get on his hands, they're in his mouth! No amount of vacuuming seems to help. I'm thinking about getting a new rug, but worried about spending a fortune only to have the same problem again! Does anyone know any types of rug that won't shed? I've read that wool ones are the worst... any general rug advice appreciated!!!
As noted by others: good diet. I do not agree with other comments that say it is normal to shed all the time. Spitz breeds have a double coat, they should be shedding in spring and fall, to prepare for different seasons. To shorten the shedding period, give a warmish bath (not TOO warm) to loosen hair and dry using a force dryer. If you don't have a force dryer, go to a grooming shop. Do NOT use a human hair dryer, it is only going to dry his skin. The force dryer blasts the water and loose hair out. Once that is done, prepare yourself for about an hour of brushing. Use a teflon coated rake (single line, short teeth). I like to finish with a Zoom Groom (rubber fingers). I HATE furminators - they are a razor with a handle - they cut the hair off, they do not remove from the root (which is what shedding is all about - total loss of the entire hair shaft). Once you do this big groom, weekly brushing should be sufficient. You will always have to vaccuum, but it shouldn't need to be a daily thing.
Q: how can i remove a chili stain from my carpet?
Try using Tuff Stuff yellow can you can buy it Walmart. Can also be used for your vehicle, i think that that is the aisle it is located in. I have two toddlers and they are spilling food or drinks in there rooms. Its a white foam that comes out grab a damp cloth a scrub comes right up. I used to work at a dry cleaners and was always told that you should never apply water to a surface to get a stain out first without treating it with a chemical first it makes the stain set in and may not come out, don't know if this is true or not haven't done it. Good Luck hope this works.
Q: What do national wool and new wool mean?
national wool: Domestic wool new wool: New Zealand wool
Q: best way to get red ink out of a white rug ?
You okorder ... Make sure you use the Graffiti formula, not the Original. The Original formula doesn't work on ink. Krud Kutter doesn't smell bad, it's non-toxic, and the bottle will last you forever. Hope this helps. -
Q: I understand that my knee-skin was torn/burnt in one direction or another all at once...but why does it hurt so bad?
friction burns
Q: I want to buy area rugs?details please.?
Custom woven rugs. I found this place when visiting in New Orleans. I saw Sir Anthony Hopkins in there and was amazed by what they do. Their rugs are not exactly cheap but are labors of love. I never knew what it took to make a rug like the ones they offer. Custom color combinations and a variety of dimensions. They ship too.
Q: So I have this cheap $20 rug from walmart thats teal. I did away with it for a while but now that I want my room redone, I want a black rug to go in front of a futon. How would I go about dyeing this rug instead of buying a new one and leaving this one to collect dust? It has a plastic wired bottom to hold the rug together and to act slip resistant. Would dyeing it affect it?
Whether dyeing would work depends on what fibre it's made of. If it's wool or cotton, it would dye quite well with ordinary dyes, though it might present a few difficulties since dyes usually call for being heated, and a lot of rinsing after. If it's a synthetic fibre, which it very likely is, it might not dye at all because synthetics don't absorb dye very well, if at all. If they do, they usually require processes that would be very difficult to achieve with a rug, such as heating the dye bath with the item in it. All in all, it's probably not worth even trying. Find a cheap black rug to buy.
Q: I recently spilled some glue on my carpet and in the process of getting it out I caused the carpet to stretch some and bubble up slightly. My question is whether or no the apartment complex will make me replace the whole carpet or just pay for it to be patched? It's a four person apartment in a college community where everyone is on separate leases and there is a visible seam between the living room and the hall way so i doubt I would have to replace the carpet for the whole apartment but maybe the living room. Can they charge full price for carpet if it is roughly 3-4 years old and had stains on it when I moved in? My lease states carpet repair costs between 100-200 dollars but they reserve the right to charge more. The deposit was waved when I signed the lease. I live in Kentucky if that make a difference.
It is very difficult to 'patch a carpet'. The labor involved costs as much as does replacing the entire room of carpet. In a 'college community', they will likely only charge for replacing the affected room. Whether or not you are charged full replacement costs depends on your state laws and your lease contract.
