- The supply and return heater hoses have an O ring below the clamp that holds them in place directly off the casting above and to the left of the water-pump. Now please listen to this: The actual aluminum water-pump is secured buy small metric hex nuts behind the water-pump pulley. - The first answer gave good advice. On older cars replacing a water pump was easy. You loosened the fan belt, removed it and removed the pump with the fan blades. Now nearly all autos have air conditioning and there is not enough room without removing some of the items associated with it. I have on occasion even had to remove the radiator before air became popular. Shop around for an independent mechanic or a small shop. The job will be more than you want to try probably. Good luck.

- Sounds like your ready to work, it should only take about an hour. Yes take the fan shroud off first (just the top part), you should get a piece of card board and put against the radaitor to keep from damaging it when you take tha fan off. You can use Prestone, Dextrol is just GMs name brand.
- Q: I just put a new water pump in my jeep and after I put it in I ran it and it seemed to have a small leak while it was running it seems like it was coming from the crank which is under the water pump so it might be a leak coming from the bottom of the pump. When I turn the car off it is no longer a leak its more like pouring water out. What do you think it can be? I put a gasket and the blue silicone gasket sealant all around it and on it before I put it in so I have no idea. Thank you for the help.
- The blue silicone has caused a hole in the water pump. Get it fixed now or the blue silicone will leak onto your engine causing more damage.

- Yes, Meziere makes a good pump although, I have a CSR on the 496ci in my Chevelle and it works great too! ADDED: Yes, I only drive this car 2 to 3 times a week.
