- Q: I drive a 1995 Acura integra ls model I'm mechanically inclined just not enough to do a headgasket (more patience wise) my car loses coolant once in every 3 weeks it starts to over heat. I don't have white smoke coming out of the exhaust or milky oil. Everything else runs smooth on my car. I've head it pressure tested and every thing else checks out so I'm kind of lost. All hoses are fine and not leaking and there is no coolant leaks showing up on the ground. Any ideas?
- head gasket sealant interior the truck so there replace right into a head gasket concern from the get pass? putting that crap in it replace right into a band-aide. and now you're caught with the subject. it incredibly is uncertain at this factor climate gasket sealant additive replace into used to tackle a leaking chamber or in the event that they have been given fooled by a a danger intake gasket concern. do no longer comprehend the unique indicators that triggered that undesirable selection. sorry! i might say that sealant crap ultimately passed on to the great beyond. no person ever would desire to have positioned that stuff in there interior the 1st place. would desire to have dealt with the subject somewhat of using a band-aide in a bottle that motives greater issues that it *tries* to unravel. i pass to get a combustion leak tester later, yet i'm basically questioning. so which you're taking this to a great ASE keep for analysis? i'm going to enable them to interrupt the undesirable information to you.
- Q: was told by a Toyota Service that this would only be 1 hour more labor and cost me about 140 dollars more..and that they always recommend it being done same time as timing belt and water pump replacement....but is really a good idea or not? (if engine is 20 years old..but has ony 150 ,000 miles on it..btw. this is for a 94 Toyota 4 Runner V6 engine
- Yes do it. As long as your in there. I do the same thing and recommend it also. You have a good mechanic man that seems to know their stuff.
- Q: Ac was working fine before the mechanic replaced the water pump. Now the AC only blows hot air. Is this related?
- The water pump has nothing to do with the AC but the mechanic could have forgot to reconnect something he had to take off to replace the water pump. Go back to him and ask he to recheck his work and explain why. If you had given the Make and Model and Year of your car, someone could have said what he might have disconnected.

- Q: In my house. Any ideas regarding how much this is going to cost me?
- You need to get a second opinion from a knowledgeable friend or family member. When you say water pump , do you mean the well pump or is it a pump connected to the furnace that helps cycle hot water through radiators in the house? Please get a second opinion , maybe a friend or family can recommend someone who can help you.
- Q: im buying a mazda 626 for 800 abd the owner selling just let me know that the water pump is going out. is it a fairly easy fix or should i keep shopping for a vehicle?
- keep shopping, water pump will run about $30 and if you take it to a shop they'll charge $150 if not more to install, it'd be best to find a car in better condition
- Q: Ok, so I was driving the other day when I heard this quot;clunksound...my AC went out (stopped blowing cold), and power steering went out. I pulled over and one of the wheels where the serpentine belt goes on was off and obviously the belt was off too. I got it towed to a shop where they showed me I needed a new belt - it was ripped, and told me I need a new water pump...all together a 400 dollar job after labor and parts. I was hoping I would just need a new belt and they could bolt back on the wheel...From a chic standpoint, this seemed logical. I know nothing about cars and I'm always very skeptical when I take my car anywhere to get it worked on bc I could be told anything and wouldn't know the difference...Has anyone had a similar experience or does this sound like the problem? I have a 07 honda civic...around 80,000 miles.
- Price about right around $200.00 for all parts including new coolant.Plus labor. But a suggestion Honda had a recall on bad water pump pulleys in 06 maybe yours is covered under recall. Get vin number and call them, may get done for free, wouldn't hurt to ask. They'll need vin number and production date. If not a free job get estimate on repair from them to see if close to other one. Mileage doesn't matter if on recall list.
- Q: Installed new water pump on 90 Jeep. Noticed antifreeze around the edges of the pump. Took it off, replaced with new gasket and sealer, but it seams to be leaking again.
- Could be a defective pump. I've had that happen to me already. Might be that one of the surfaces still has some of the old gasket remaining or perhaps some uneven spots. In that case I would recommend high-tack gasket sealer by permatex. Check to see that the antifreeze is not coming from elsewhere like from a by-pass hose or from the intake. It could be possible that the pump was not the only thing at fault. Hope that helps.
- Q: I am leaking antifreeze, but only when the car is sitting after it has been running for a while, and its quite frustrating..it's coming around where the hoses are, I just got the thermostat/thermostat housing replaced, and also the heater hose and it seems to be coming from the same general area AS those...My car doesn't leak all the time it seems, so I'm not sure what this could mean. It has not over heated, my ac isn't also working at all.I have taken it back to the mechanic two times in the last 2 days and they cannot determine it's having a leak or not..which is quite ridiculous!! It seems to them that they think I'm crazy or something, I just don't like to see antifreeze underneath my car, I mean who does? Does this sound like a water pump? Where exactly is the waterpump located?
- i would say its where you had ur stuff replaced before. They might not have the clamp on hosestight enough. Or the housing isnt tightened enough and or they overfilled especially with them not tightening it all up. Seen it happen alot. And it happens because they dont recheck for any leaks after the work is dne and make sure everything is all nice and tidey before they give it back to customer. If it was ur pump u would overheat and not have enough pressure to leak in any hoses or housings but only ur pump weep holes is where it would leak...
- Q: Can a car turn off due to a water pump. I am thinking of buying a car that the water pump needs to be replaced, everything else in the car its fine, it turns on lovely but after a little while it turns off, the owner says its because of the water pump. is this possible?
- What's the make and year of the car? If the water pump is bad the car would overheat, not just shut off edit: If the water pump needs to be replaced the car should be overheating. There has to be another cause for the stalling, perhaps he meant to say fuel pump? or filter? Sounds a bit sketchy to me, have a mechanic check everything for you before you buy it, and if you get the water pump changed get a new timing belt while you're at it. I wouldn't pay more than 500 for it from what I've heard. If you can't do the work yourself you're gonna be looking at some huge mechanic bills. You could definitely find a car for a 1000 that wouldn't require any immediate repairs
