- Q: What is the current of the pump when it is started?
- Just started when the pump current is 2-3 times the rated current is normal, so, the power is greater than the pump motor, many small factories in order to survive, the small motor will cut corners, produces motor burning phenomenon, and pump failure caused by load current is increased, and the pump flow rate exceeds the rated flow is a super current. General large water pump is the first to start the water pump, and then open the outlet valve, is to solve the pump just started when the ultra current problems. After excluding pump fault flowmeter check flow is beyond the rated flow, the excess can pumpslittle off flow control valve to reduce the current problems above are not dismantle the motor current of the motor itself over to see how to judge whether the motor has fault.
- Q: looking for the comparison and then finaly the conclusion about the water pumps instaaled in the IC engines. Where we should stick to the tradional mechanical driven water pumps or electrical water pumps? which one is better!! any information/ response is appreciated
- Duh (I have to assume that IC = a engine (as fitted in a car) if there's no fan belt, how would YOU drive a water pump? I suggest the person that asked the question has PEDALS fitted to his/her IC the fan belt went when radiator fans had motors added (which was good as the fan was a unwanted load on the engine ...you only need a fan when stationary)
- Q: I have a 94 Mazda b2300 it was working great last week then all the sudden it started making a knocking sound and started to overheat! Its still drivable but it overheats if i go far! A friend told me it can be the Water Pump so i put a new one, I was told it can be the Thermostat so i had a new one put in. It worked for awhile but began overheating again. My truck is my livelihood so its important i get it fixed! I cant afford a mechanic but just asking to see if anyone knows what it could possibly be? It catches good and the engine sounds strong but it keeps overheating!
- Did you put the thermostat in facing the right direction? Did you flush the cooling system? Check the fan to make sure it is working.
- Q: The truck has 89k on it and i'm having the timing belt done this week; would it be wise to get the pump changed since it's in the same area, even though it's not leaking; for preventitive maintenance purposes, or is there life left in the pump? I don't want to take it back soon after if the pump does go out
- From my experience the average life expectancy is 7 to 10 yrs depends on usage. Seems like they last longer when used more often. Hope this answers your Q' BIG CHEO
- Q: What causes a water pump on a car to go bad????? and are they a pain to change by yourself?????
- on this particular model, the wires to the water pump relay short out by rubbing on the EGR mounting bracket. You can repair it w/ two small lengths of wire(16 gauge) and four crimped connectors. It will only take about a half hour. Good Luck!
- Q: My car is Grand Marquis. I want to remove the water pump. After removing all the bolts on the water pump, it is still there. I tried to hammer it in order to loose it, but it is still there. I use long tool to lever it off, but it is still there. I even break the corners of the water pump, but it is still there. PB Blaster is used, but useless. I am helpless. Can you help me?
- It would help to post the year, engine size.
- Q: I have a water pump that works with 12V and 2 amps.I was thinking to get a potentiometer to be able to slow down the speed. Is this the best way to do it? What wattage should it have, so it doesn't burn out, and what should be the maximum resistance, to be able to stop the pump completely? And OKorder or product link would be great! Thanks!
- A potentiometer will work, and this could be wired in series with the pump as long as its minimum resistance was zero ohms. You can also use an adjustable voltage regulator which would likely be more energy efficient but a more complex device. A potentiometer or regulator would need to have a minimal rating of 12V * 2A = 24 watts. A potentiometer, that is made for 12 volt applications, should be available at a local auto parts store. It has a simple, ceramic insulated, wire-wound resistor, and should have a 5 to 10 amp rating Sources below are to more sophisticated controllers than a simple potentiometer.
- Q: took car to meachanic on a friday drove home . mecahnic put in timing belt engine coolant water pump car on sunday leaking alot of green fluid and smoke coming from hood
- Almost everytime a mechanic replaces the timing belt, they replace the water pump as well since the timing belt usually drives that pump and it's just practical to do both at once... when they do this, they first drain the coolant (green stuff), then remove timing belt, and water pump (what pushes the coolant around in your engine), they then install the new water pump *and are supposed to also replace the gasket and/or put rtv sealant on the mating surfaces to prevent leaking... I'm going to assume they skipped that step, and the result is coolant (green liquid) leaking out of the pump and making contact with hot surfaces of the engine, which would explain the smoke. Take it back to the shop (if safe to drive, may also want to top off your radiator with water) and demand they fix their messup for free, a good shop will not charge you for their mistakes.
- Q: i want to change the water pump on my on a 70 hp (70C) nissan outboard motor and i never pulled a lower unit, not sure what to expect thanks for any help
- ((( get a manual))) like has been said ..but here is some genneral proceedure::::// after loosening the gear case at the cavitation plate ,,,, pull it away from the leg about half an inch and acsess the gear linkage shift rod and undo the conecting nut,, then pull the gear housing away --- ((( when you reinstal it you will have to turn the propelor by hand to push the drive shaft spline into place ))) --<- then you will have the pump housing on the gear caseing .. just pull it off the shaft retaining the small key way that turns the impelor.. ::::::: replace the impelor and push the pump housing down over the impelor..,,,, as you push it down,, turn the propelor by hand so the shaft rotates and make the fins on the impellor bend away from the shaft ,,, make sure the shaft is turning the correct way ,,with the gear in foward ,, turn the propelor so it drives foward or if in reverse turn the propelor so its driving backwards ,,, there should be a gasket between the pump housing and the gear caseing,, if not ,, use some silastic ,,, ((check the manual)) <<<<<<<<<<<<
- Q: I'm curious to know, where does the water go after it is sent to a pumping station??
- Potable (drinkable) water pumps placed just outside the treatment plant boost pressure in the water mains, where it eventually gets to homes, businesses and hydrants via the pipe network. Most sewers flow by gravity (downhill) to a waste water treatment plant (or septic field). But if an area is too low to be serviced by a gravity sewer, an ejector pump is set at the bottom of a collection well which pumps the wastewater to a higher elevation in a pressure pipe called a force main. A good pump station will kick on about 4 or 5 times an hour and run for several minutes. Eventually it outlets to a manhole in a gravity system and ultimately the treatment plant.
