Becuause the soap is added and not completely removed, when the cleaning is finsihed, it leaves soap in the carpet. When you walk on the carpet the soap acts as a glue almost that attracts dirt and filth. You can try this yourself by taking some liquid soap and putting it on your floor and later feel it. it will be sticky. So, instead of cleaning your carpet every 6 months or 12 months, just dry vaccum frequently. Personally, i only have my carpet professionally clean when absolutely necessary, about once every 6 years.

- Q: This old rug has been stored in a musty damp place. It's beautiful, and I want to try to clean it and keep it. When I started to vacuum it, I found the backing in places was turning to sand and the threads connected to it were separating. The suction was too much. - Q: I'd like to know how REAL fur coats, bear skin rugs, etc. are made (by hand not industrial process) as I don't believe its tanning like in leather as it requires the fur to be stripped.
