Q: Construction technology of the linking of floor tile and carpet
There are several ways: there is a very small T-shaped mound layer, find a careful worker to instal it at the edge of the tile, and then press the carpet into the T-shaped mound layer, it also should be done carefully, the carpet needs to be cut exactly, because it will come out if cut smaller. The second one is the direct pressure method, the carpet side closer to tiles should be rolled like clothes, or it will have rough selvedge after a long time. exact size is very important for rolling, the carpet is better three mm or so lower than floor tiles after finished. it is ok to install carpet hook at the edge of tiles.
Q: would it look funny if i had the fuzzy white rug on it because i really want one!!!!
I was unable to open the links but I have seen this done on home decor shows before. If the bottom rug is much larger than the top one, it can look perfectly fine. People do this a lot to cover stains on wall to wall carpet when they can't afford to replace it. Buy the fur rug if you like it, if it doesn't work on the blue rug, put it elsewhere or return it. You have to follow your gut on this one.
Q: I need to patch a section of my carpet. The size I need to patch is 2 feet by 1 1/2 feet. I will be patching just a few inches from the wall/front door. Here's my questions:1. Will the patch job be noticeable at all or will it blend in to the other carpet? 2. Will the replaced carpet piece be loose or need stretched? 3. What if the carpet I am patching doesn't exactly match because my current carpet is used and the patch will be brand new? I've never done this before so any advice for a first timer would be awesome! Thanks!
1. Yes, if your patch is new then it will be noticeable. 2. The replaced piece shouldn't be to loose if you cut it right. You can use some double sided tape to help hold it if you think you need it. 3. You can try shampooing your old carpet before doing the patch to help it blend better. If you want to try something different. Take a few pieces of varying colors to your existing carpet and make it look like a custom patchwork carpet throughout the entry way. Ex: If your current carpet is dark blue you could use several shades of blue or burgundy to spruce it up a bit. When you get tired of that look - just change the squares.
Q: What kind of rug should I buy that will stand up best to cat's claws besides sisal?
cats like to scratch anything!!!!!!!! there is no rug that would stop your cat from scratching. There is something to make it scratch less though! It is called a cat scratch post. You can buy them at PetSmart or Petco. Ask a vet and they will have suggustions.
Q: My landlord is finally replacing the carpet in my apt. But he's not going to pay to have it installed. It's not my responsibility to pay it's his responsibility to pay for the carpet and installation right.
This is always a tricky situation but the landlord should cover all expenses during the install and hash it out later. Was this carpet ruined from normal wear and tear do to years of rental ... or ... was it ruined by you, a pet, a guest, etc. If it is not your fault then I would get an attorney to sue the landlord. Normal wear and tear is a landlords legal responsibility for their property. If it was something you caused then you're lucky they are covering the carpet at all. In most cases the property owner/landlord will cover the expenses upfront and then deduct it from your security deposit.
Q: I was just wondering if CLR can remove carpet stains. If so, how would you use it? what are the steps?
CLR will take the color out of carpet too...
Q: My cat has a bad hairball problem, and whenever the seasons change she'll have barfing episodes almost every day for weeks. Okay here's the part that really boggles my mind:Our house is all hardwood floor, with linoleum in the kitchen and the bathrooms. We have a few throw rugs here and there. Now, out of all the places to puke, she ALWAYS chooses to puke on one of the various throw rugs in the house. One time I saw her retching and I picked her up and put her on the linoleum and she ran back to the throw rug and hurled, refusing to barf on bare floor. I really wish she would barf on the hardwood or the linoleum because then I could just quickly wipe it up instead of having to pre-treat and wash the rugs all the time. Does anyone know why cats prefer puking on carpet vs. bare floor surfaces?
Because cats are smart and lay around on nice soft cushy carpets and unlike mans best friend they don't like cold hard floors. So when they're ready to throw that hairball out, they do it on the nice cushy spot that they're already on.
Q: I just bought this big wool shag Rug.. and its really nice except it shedding..there is red hair balls everywere... on the floor...on my cloths ...its almost like having a big red dog that sheds constantly! what can i do ? is there something to spay on it ? someone suggested to me to use hairspray???... any advice?
Let me know when you find a solutions, because I have one too. Just don't walk on it. It will not shed if nobody touch it. It is good for looking, not practical. And you can't use vaccum on it, got take it outside to beat it.
Q: If you have an apartment with Pergo or hardwood floors in an older building that doesn't have a lot of insulation will rugs, curtains and the like help with reducing noise transmission to other units?
Enormously. Just the addition of a few rugs and curtains will significantly deaden noise. If you want proof--go to your bathroom and remove all the rugs/shower curtains/window coverings you have in that space. Even if you don't have shower curtains (like a glass door, instead) remove everything you have on the counters or hangers--towels, etc. That hollow sound you hear in the bathroom, it happens all over your house, its just in larger areas so you don't notice it with all your furniture and things there. If you put a rug over a hardwood floor, It will definitely help to deaden the sound of footsteps to the neighbours below. Curtains/ bamboo shades/ etc., even light ones, will both make a significant difference to the sound that escapes your house and comes from other people outside AND to the coolness or warmth within your home.
Q: We have white carpet and I want to know some of your experiences of what has worked the best. We have a bissel carpet cleaner at home and I would like to use that but the bissel cleaners don't work very well from what I've found.
