Q: I'm thinking of buying a shag rug similar to this type. I have 2 boys and a dog...so it will need to be steam cleaned every now and then. I'm wondering if those are cleanable with professional steam cleaners, or if the sucking action will tear up the rug. Figured it would be good to find out before I buy one! Thanks!: yes it will take longer due to haven to move slower to allow a good cleaning an if hiring out don't be shocked if they charge you more then normal due to extra effort

Q: if i use oxyclean and water in my floor scrubber for a cleaner to do my whole carpets will it work nice?: I use oxyclean in my residential grade carpet steamer all the time and I haven't noticed any negative effects. I add about half the carpet soap that the instructions say to use and use about a tablespoon of oxyclean. Make sure to use really hot water and shake the water holder around to dissolve all the oxyclean before you put it in the machine. The reason its OK to use oxyclean is that any residue left behind won't be sticky and attract dirt like soap products would. That being said make sure to test out the oxyclean on a hidden corner of the carpet first, just brush in a small spot to make sure nothing bad happens.

Q: The carpet is short berber type carpet.: just regular nail polish remover non acetone so it doesn't bleach out the carpet use a tooth brush for the short carpet blot with a paper towel

Q: For now, I have carpet just lay on top of the the old low carpet that the mobile home came with. it is sort of quick fix so cleaning is easier and the walking feel better. Is it okay to do that? The old low carpet underneath is ugly and have dirty feel to it, but I don't know if I should pull it up and replace the floor with vinyl flooring? My kitchen came with the vinyl flooring so I figure it is okay to pull the old carpet up and install it? Also, I don;t know if I should really pull the old carpet up or not, since I have no experiment in this. please answer, thanks in advance: Ok... now the real answer a little late. The trouble is they use these giant stapkes that are half in the room and half under the walls. Heres what to do... 1) using a razor knife and lots and lots of blades cut the carpet as best as you can right next to the walls around the room. 2) Remove the carpet and pad from the room. 3) Using a 45 degree angle grinder with the thin discs that cut metal... under cut the staples that are holding down whats left of the carpet and pad. 4) You will find that they were not stingy with these staples with the pad seams either. use the grider on them also. A full double wide will usually take about 10 grinder discs to get it done.

Q: Can regular liquid laundy detergent be used in a carpet cleaning machine?: Nooooooooooo!!! You don't want anything that will make suds!!! Will clog and ruin the machine. Walmart makes a cleaning solutioncosts $12, is twice the size of the Bissell one and is called Pet and Odor Control. Works just as great as Bissell one...I've used it. Another idea: try using a bit of Oxyclean combined with a tiny bit of liquid Febreze (for fragrance). Shake it in the container to make sure it doesn't produce a lot of suds. Another idea: vinegar and baking soda solution mixed together (vinegar to disinfect and clean, same goes for baking soda).Personally, I hate the smell of vinegar (even though the smell dissipates as it dries...but yuck). Do NOT use those spray on foam cleaner solutions on the carpet either. Remember you also have the option of using the hot water rinse (if you have the Pro2X model). Remember not to saturate any area when using....small sections and get moisture out as you go. Then just when carpet is dry...use your vacuum to fluff up the fibers...carpet will come out soft.
