You can get 15 ' goods at remnant places at time, or you can order it and it s the same price as 12' goods..per s/f. So if your doing 15 x 13.5 thats 202.5 s/f or 203 s/f You can get carpet (just carpet) for as low as 1$ a s/f and if you look at discount places that carry mill ends or discontinued carpet remnants sometimes cheaper. Q: I have pets. Is it okay to have a solid floor, like tile or terrazo, on my living room floor and just put a big rug on it instead of carpet? Do you thik that will hurt the resale value of the home?: I would prefer terrazo flooring. Most of my life, I've lived in homes with wall to wall carpeting -- I hate it. You can't easily change colors, decor and the floors never gets really clean unless you rip out the rug and install a new one. I prefer area rugs (flexibility possibility to remove) over stone, tile, or wooden floors. Easier to clean thoroughly and preferred if someone in the household suffers from allergies. Also, if the home is being shown to prospective buyers, clean rugs don't hold objectionable odors or the animal scent that might make the house harder to sell.

Q: This rug in in our appt. and because of leaking windows mold is starting to form, the rug is tan in color and bleach will stain please help: If it's black mold (the dangerous kind), you do not want to treat it. Put the carpet back (carefully), don't saturate or spray it, and seal off the room. You can open windows as long as it does not blow the harmful mold spores around the room or into the house through the air ducts. Make sure to seal off the air ducts and do not expose children or pets to the moldy area. The black mold spores can float through the house and will root everywhere - you need to have the mold tested, and removed by professionals if it is black mold. Not everyone will get sick from black mold spores, but if you are allergic to mold or have babies in the house, you could be living in a huge health risk.

Q: or any carpet for that matter disintegrate around the edges near outer doorways? It hasn't been wet either. I mentioned cheap because my Land lady doesn't get the expensive anything. What could cause it?: Sounds like a really old or really poor quality carpet. Even the cheaper carpets should last a long time if there is no traffic. I suppose it is possible to find a carpet material that is so bad that it will begin to rot away after only a few years, but normal landlords don't buy that kind. The want the kind that will last for a long time. I can't think of anything that could cause the problem you described other than extreme age or extremely bad quality. Mayan
