- Q: Hi I need a drill press that can handle like three inches of steel or at least one. I have no experience using a drill press. So If you can teach me how to use one that would be great. Also can you direct me to a link to where I can a drill press online and where to buy the bits for steel.
- I own a drill press, a corded 3/8 drill and a cordless 3/8 drill. I use the cordless 25 times for every time I use the other two (I also use it for driving screws).
- Q: I'm trying to get my bench press form right, with free weights, but whenever I try my left side seems to always be lower than the right causing it to be unbalanced. The weight isn't an issue here as even with the bar stripped of free weights, I still have this problem. However, when I go to the bench press machine, I am able to do that with no problem at all, so I'm sure it's my form that is a problem. What can I do?*I'm right handed if that matters...
- im exactly the same, im strong enough to lift the weight easily but my form makes it very difficult to lift hardly anything whilst doing bench press i am also right handed, and because my right side is used alot more its the stronger of the 2 and you can see that on the bench press. you can fix it either by using dumbells and doing more on your weaker side, or you can use weight machines and just lower the weight alot more than normal and do it 1 handed. alternatively if your not bothered about bench press and just want to work those muscles then you can use a bench/shoulder/chest press machine.
- Q: Should the student press be afforded the same rights as the regular press?
- Well, that depends. Ryan was partially right. In some schools the administration holds control of what goes into a paper, so it's not really free... Still, in the real world, the PUBLISHER has the final say (and he could be the owner or speaking for the owner) so even there the reporters and editors are not the final authority. However, I think what you are really saying is that you had some sort of problem along the lines of the regular press got to go in somewhere where you (as a high school or college reporter) were not allowed. I always felt the press was the press and should have free reign and access to all information and the ability to go where ever the news was. In other words, a reporter was a reporter, no matter WHAT paper or electronic media he was with. That being said, we frequently were blocked from crime scenes, sometimes from industrial accidents on private property and elected officials were ALWAYS trying to keep us from finding out things that they didn't want the public to know about. Frankly, the press' Rights are what they manage to snag or force to be allowed. Good question though, you just haven't given us all the information.
- Q: So I have a barbell, and if I were to put my hands closer to the center of the bar, would it work my chest muscles more? Anything else about bench press is welcome.
- Not really-stick with a wide grip. Close grip would work your triceps more.
- Q: Im 22 years old currently leg pressing 720 lbs.. I went from 655 lbs to that huge number it seems that i can't do no more then this, The machine will max out at 810lbs doubt i can get there. I would like to leg press 2,300 lbs like Ronnie Coleman what did he do to get that whopping number. How can i do that and what else should i eat. Is he on steroids
- Eat some burgers and fries to get some junk in yo trunk. Then baby will have back, lol.
- Q: I have a rotator cuff tear and can't perform bench presses. What are other chest exercises I can do?
- Depending on which rotator cuff muscle your tore, you may be able to do flys. I wouldn’t recommend the dumbbell flys. The machine that does pec and deltoid flys will probably be your best bet. I would imagine that push ups would be out of the question. The fly machine isolates the pecs more and does not use a lot of the shoulder (deltoids) muscles. Try that exercise and see if it works for you. If you recently tore it, then you really need to rest it and seek physical therapy. I tore my supraspinatus and was out for about a month and a half - I did not do physical therapy. I have lost about 40% on my bench. It is getting better - slowly, it has been 2 years. FYI: The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) published a study on the effectiveness of the incline and decline bench presses. It basically said that those two routines are no more effective than the flat bench, military press (overhead shoulder press), and chin ups. In other words, they are a waste of time. Best of luck and good health!
- Q: i was lifting about 160 pounds in decline bench press which is ok for me when i heard a crack in my right shoulder my hand is properly working and i'm able to do biceps exercise but now i'm not even able to press even 40 pounds in bench press whenever i try to lift the rod my right shoulder starts paining terribly and i can't even do one rep.please help me it's been four days now but the problem is still the same.
- I wish I had this 2 years in the past after I damaged my rotator cuff at the same time as showing off. it truly is amazingly certain and quite provides you the techniques you opt for to handle your own shoulder themes and so a lot more advantageous data consisting of scuffling with more advantageous injuries. once you've a shoulder preserving you wakeful at evening you'll recognize that is not any guffawing count number number. give up Shoulder soreness completely?
- Q: I am trying to become a Freelance Photographer and sell my photos to the local newspapers and other media organizations. I plan on taking pictures of crime scenes and different law enforcement / fire department events in my area.I've talked to a few people and they all told me that I would need a Press Pass. I am unsure as how to get one (I call the different newspapers and places like that and they say that they only issue them to their employees and are not for freelance photographers like myself). If I am a freelance photographer, do I really need one? If so, could I just create my own business and make my own press pass for that business?(I am in California, Los Angeles County)
- When I was a newspaper reporter, we reporters used to laugh a bit at our friends asking us to get them a press pass. That was because, we felt, if you had to have a press pass, it wasn't going to do you much good. Yes, we all had press ID. But it was a point of pride not to use it -- just waltz up to the place or person and say, I'm from xyz news. How about that...(and ask your question.) But your situation is a bit different, I see. Okay, here's what some people in your situation (actually needing a press pass) did. We had a county press association, and when I was president, II made name cards for all the members -- even some who were freelancers like you. I think your idea of making yourself a news media with a blog is a good one. Print yourself up a card with your blog name on it, and your id for contacts -- name, phone#, email addy. I bet it would work -- make it _real_ official looking!
- Q: i was thinking about when i first started working out in my shead with weights i remember i could only bench press about 65lbs and i was 13 now im almost 16 and i can benchpress 120 10x but at one time i could bench press 140 but i quit working out for a while and i practicly restarted from benching like 90, sooo tell me., how old were you when u started working out how much could u bench? and how much can u bench now? and how old are you?
- Well, I started at 13 as well, benching the bar, at 45 pounds. Haha. I'm 26 now, and bench around 300-350 depending on the day. Takes a lot of hard work and patience, but you'll get there.
- Q: Hey,So recently hit a Bench Press plateau (Dumbbel) and I was wondering if this routine would help me break it:Old Regime:Dumbbell Press (steady build up in weight until fatigue - done LOTS of time 6-8 sets)Inclines (2-3 sets)Flys (2-3 sets)New Regime:Dumbbell Press (3 sets, one warm up, second a drop set - higher weight, third a high set)Declines (5 sets)Flys (4 sets)Maybe dropping a set in declines and flys for Push-Ups.So do you think this new routine will break my plateau and if so, how long before I start seeing more results (5-6 weeks perhaps?)
- generally speaking force some new adaption through accessory work - Joe's advice is decent but I will add the concept of adjusting the load by adjusting frequency. Consider a 5x5 linear progression on a barbell bench press for example - you can use this as an accessory still - but it will allow you to shift a heavier weight rather than go for the endurance/hypetrophy training of multiple sets of 8-10. It is generally acknowledged that 3 reps is for power (such as a power clean/olympic lifts) 5 is for strength training (like starting strength/ 5/3/1 / Stronglifts/texas method) and 8-12 is body builder/hypertrophy range. I like to ensure when I plateu that I consider all of these rep ranges to provide a new stimulus to the area. Some fundamental things to also consider: Diet - particularly increasing calories, to a lesser extent, ensure you have enough carbs to burn in the session - this is generally an issue for low-carbers though, not the general population (who already eat too many carbs). I hate these people who say drink 7 litres of water every 2 minutes or you will die! (ok, exaggerating :) but you know the type...) but I would say drink a small cup with every meal/decent snack you have (assuming you have about 6) Rest - if you noticed your sleep going from a nice 8 hours to a meagre 5 + 1/2 then you need to consider going to bed earlier.
