Q: Hello Everyone. Im a 23 year old female and I joined a new gym in which they have a bench press club. All males have to bench press their weight in 8 reps, while the woman have to bench 65% of their weight, 8 reps as well.I was a 3 sport athlete in high school and a collegiate softball player as well. I just graduated in December...I thought I think I wanna live up to the challenge and try to be in the bench press club. I weigh 148 which means I have to bench press 96lbs 8 times. Which doesnt seem like alot the only problem is I dont really know how to I train for this?? I always do cardio everyday, but dont bench press or light weights and its been 5 months since I lifted actively while I was in college playing sports.Granted they do have trainers at the gym, but their arms as as big as my head and I dont want to make myself look like a fool, lol! Can anyone help me??? please?? thanks :)
its very nice you are willing to participate in such a fun and great way to excercise as lifting weights......now to answer your question bench pressing involves 3 major muscle groups working together to lift said weight, those muscle groups being the pectoralis major aka your chest.... Tricep aka the back of your arms.... . Front Deltoid aka the front of your shoulder... improving your bench press weight is NOT that difficult, i would personally recommend selecting a weight you feel comfortable with and start practicing we shall call it....try to learn proper form, how it SHOULD feel in each muscle group to lift the weight to full exstension, once you get proper form down start to gradually add weight as you do this more and more....youll find yourself getting stronger and stronger each time.... i would personally recommend a session of lighter weight/ higher rep 4 sets of 15 lets say on monday and then a session of higher weight/lower rep for friday....doing 4 sets of 6-8 the lighter weight higher rep will improve your endurance while the lower weight higher rep will improve your strength.....make sure using the lower weight and higher weight you should be FAILING at the max reps i suggested, once u hit 8 reps or 15 reps you should be tired....give yourself a 1-2 minute breather and knock out the next set REST IN BETWEEN AND EAT WELL....both very important things hope i helped

i just started doing leg press a few weeks ago...made some good progress....400 pounds worth of progress, which sounds rediculous and impossible but i got some good genes...and some good supplements... i begin with 6 plates or about 270 pounds end at around 750 775 not including the sled thats 6 sets i try to go up 2 plates each time then at the end i put like 2 25s on or something to add it to 750 or 775 leg curls i just started them last weak i used to focus more on my calves then anything...but i think its like 175 or so i max out at and moderate like 130

Press ups yes they can make them look bigger but more or less they were made to look fuller. A padded push up now that makes ya look alot bigger then U are! I think id rather look fuller meaning up more and postioned right.

I'd be guessing you could be asking about the guy who did the video some people didn't like. He was in America and America has free speech laws, therefore if he's ever brought into court for this matter he could not be charged with regard to free speech. He could, however be charged with inciting a riot if the riot were in America and if there were laws against inciting. If he was not an American citizen then there might be some new situation back in the country he's a citizen of. Otherwise I don't think there is a case, but you'd have to ask attorneys what they think.

Both work the same target muscles. The chest press does alot of the stablising for you so not as many assistant muscles are used. The bench press is a progression of the chest press. When you are able to use the chest press and maintain perfect form then you are ready to progress to the bench press. Because you need more stability when performing a bench press it will be harder and you should find that you can not lift as heavy at first. If you have not used the bench press before start light and make sure you have someone to spot you. Once you have mastered the bench press you can progress to a dumbell press and then to a single arm DB press.
Q: i was lifting about 160 pounds in decline bench press which is ok for me when i heard a crack in my right shoulder my hand is properly working and i'm able to do biceps exercise but now i'm not even able to press even 40 pounds in bench press whenever i try to lift the rod my right shoulder starts paining terribly and i can't even do one rep.please help me it's been four days now but the problem is still the same.
Welcome to the world of the impinged syndrome and or shoulder tendinitis. First off, take it easy and stop straining your shoulder by doing bench press unless you want it to be a permanent problem. Now to explain to you what happens: You have overdeveloped the front of your shoulder mostly due to the excessive benching and your back shoulder muscles are much weaker. The rotator cuff join becomes inflamed and so you have sharp pain of the shoulder. Ice the crap out of it. Start doing strengthening exercises like external rotations, avoid overhead lifts and bench press for a while!
Q: Is the Leg press a good way to build leg strength, as an Offensive lineman would need? Or is squat better?
The Leg Press is for your quads. The squat is for you quads and glutes. If you want to build leg strength, you need to work on more than just the leg press and the squats. Do leg curls for your hamstrings, calf raises for your calves.
