- Did you smoke or have pets in your home? Unless you misrepresented the rug to the buyer in some way, such as not telling her the rug was the cat's bathroom or not telling her the rug had been flooded with dog urine, you are not obligated to do a thing. Often, and I really mean often, some people will experience buyer's remorse and want their money back. If you know the rug was in good condition and you represented it as such, don't give the money back. They might take you to court, but again they will have to prove you lied about the rug when you sold it to them. This aggravation is part of doing business.

- The easiest and surest way to change the color is to change the carpet. If the present carpet is nylon, there is no way to dye it evenly. Go to commercial carpet installer house and purchase an end run from a job of a color that works for you...you will spend far less money doing this than trying to dye a carpet that will make a mess. Choose level loop commercial carpet....will never wear out under residential use.

- Not a very nice thing to say about your mother. Bleach does not stain. (Now who looks soooooo smart) It has no color, it is a color remover. Nothing you can do to fix it on carpet but remove the carpet or replace it.

- Use a little vinegar or fresh lemon juice drops in the carpet stains, use a soft brush to brush, then use the carpet special foam detergent wash. The area is too big to come up several times. - Q: how to repair flattened carpet?
- I've used several methods to fix mine. If it's a small carpet (like an area rug) you can use a coin (like a quarter). Simply hold it on its side and rub it back and forth over the carpet. Another method is the spray bottle method. Sprits your carpet with water, let is sit for about 15 minutes, and vacuum. This will take 3 or 4 attempts. Always let the carpet completely dry before the next attempt. The last method is a pain, but one that I find works the best. Take a steam iron to your carpet. You'll have to do it in sections if it's a large carpet. After allowing the steam to penetrate deeply into the carpet, take a stiff brush and go over the area until the nap of the carpet it restored to its original condition.
- Q: 2 days ago our carpet started leaking. None of our pluming goes underneath it which amazes us. We have no money for plumbers or anyone to check on it. We do have a water heater next to it but its in ground. and we check on it every 2 days and there are no leaks leading to it.
- Carpet doesn't leak. Period. If it's water, it's coming from somewhere. Not finding the problem and leaving the carpet wet will cause: Mold to grow on the carpet. The carpet will delaminate (the layers of woven material and backing will come apart). Your pad will get really stinky. This is a potential health hazard, at minimum it could cause allergies and rashes. I'd say this isn't something to ignore, the moisture is coming from SOMEWHERE, you need to figure out what is causing it and stop it. Then, you'll need to dry out the carpet. If the pad is wet you need to pull the carpet off the tack strips that run around the edges of the room and remove any pad that is wet. The pad will need to be replaced and the carpet restretched into the room.
- Q: My cat likes to back her rear end up to the edge of the litter box, resulting in her 'missing the target' and getting cat urine on my carpet. She also likes to kick the litter out of the box.In using a carpet cleaner, some of the litter left a grey-ish stain on my tan carpet. As we are renting this home, new carpet is not an option.Would a Rug Doctor remove this stain? Would it just make the stain worse, by getting more of the litter wet?
- I don't think the carpet cleaner will make it worse, but the urine may have soaked into the padding subfloor. Could you get a covered litter box. Our cat also had the same prob I replaced the tray with a covered box there is no longer the 'missing the box' prob the litter around the box is only from tracking, not kicking. If you think kitty cannot or will not use a new box, then you could invest in a high-quality doormat type little rug--like the ones people put in front of the exterior doors for wiping their feet. These rugs have water-proof backing so the urine will not soak through. Then all you have to do is rinse it off with the hose outside or wash on 'gentle' in the washing machine line dry. The backing will eventually crumble by washing it in the machine, that's why I suggest hosing it off outside. But you could also use Rug Doc to clean it periodically or invest (or ask for X-mas or your b-day) for a carpet cleaner or Spot Bot. Anything else will just get soaked through still get to the carpet. You could always put a tarp under the litter box. Sorry about the long post. I have 8 cats have been dealing with cat problems for the last 7 years. I found what works best for me I like to share the info.

- First, suck up the water either with a wet and dry vac or with the carpet cleaner. Then shampoo or clean the carpet. Then set up a fan blowing on the carpet. While you are at the Depot, get DampRid moisture absorption crystals and the DampRid Mold and Mildew Remover and Preventative. The absorption crystals come in a plastic tub, take the lid off and leave it in the center of the wet spot. It will take excess moisture out of the air and carpet to help it dry faster. Spray the area with the DampRid Mold and Mildew spray to kill any spores and prevent the mildew from growing in the carpet and padding. Keep the fan running for a couple of days or until you cannot place a terry towel over the spot, hop on it and have a wet spot on the towel. Good luck.
