- Q: I am trying to decorate my house and I'm really stuck on what color of area rug to get for my living room!!!My walls are beige with white trim. Hardwood wood floors in the living room and bedrooms. Black granite floors in the halls, kitchen, breakfast area, and bathrooms. I am going for a mainly neutral color scheme overall (a lot of brown and black), except the bedrooms will be done in their own individual style. In the living room I have a brown double recliner and brown curtains with black rods. I have a couch and love seat that I'm looking to replace but have not shopped for anything yet (not until I have the money.
- Buy a rug that as a transitional pattern to compliment your style / decor.
- Q: Why is there so much chromatism when producing multi color carpet
- So different batches, because dyeing is ralated with the temperature and humidity of the air, the higher the humidity, the darker the color, the lower the temperature, the brighter the color
- Q: we are trying to shampoo our hall carpet, but someone had spilled quite a bit of laundry soap awhile ago and it doesn't seem to go away. Does anyone know a better way to get rid of this big blotch of soap on the carpet?
- Try diluting some vinegar in water and shampooing with that. Vinegar is used to cut oven cleaner cleaning solution making clean up easier, maybe it will work on the soap. My concern is how much water are you putting on the carpet? Saturating it could be damaging the under layer, promoting mold. You might consider cutting out that section, taking it to the sink or tub and running water through it until completely soap free, plot as much as possible out, let air dry and then use double sided carpet tape to reinstall it in the hall. They use carpet tape when installing carpeting when it must be seamed, so it's not a freakish idea.
- Q: I live on the 2nd floor of an apartment building. While attempting to do laundry earlier today, I didn't notice that my washer never shut off.. So it kept filling until I noticed my dining room/kitchen room were flooded. I immediately shut the water off. The neighbors below came to my door stating that the water had leaked into their apartment. The question im having is quot;Is it necessary to have the carpet replaced?quot; I have a two year old, and after doing some research I learned that mold could build up, which is something I dont want. Also when the maintenance people came they tracked my carpet with mud and who knows what else when trying to fix my washer. My apartment wont just give me new carpet so Im trying to get some advice in whether or not I should fight for new carpet.
- Hot water carpet cleaners have the ability to suck the water from the carpet and the pad, using a tool called a water claw. Often times the carpet pad is removed and air movers placed under and on top of the damp carpet to hasten the drying procedure. A commercial dehumidifier is also used to pull moisture from the air.

- Q: what is a penny rug?
- It is a type of applique made from felted wool. A penny rug is a folk art style of decorative appliqué, traditionally made from felted wool. Primitive shapes were cut out and sewn onto a wool background using an embroidery blanket stitch of contrasting colors. Dating from the mid-19th century to the early 20th century, a penny rug was not used on the floor, but instead as decorative table coverings or wall hangings. This folk art appliqué was often finished with a tongue-shaped border. Coins such as pennies were used as templates for the circle shapes which were layered onto the bordering tongues. Hence the name penny rug.
- Q: My cat has a bad hairball problem, and whenever the seasons change she'll have barfing episodes almost every day for weeks. Okay here's the part that really boggles my mind:Our house is all hardwood floor, with linoleum in the kitchen and the bathrooms. We have a few throw rugs here and there. Now, out of all the places to puke, she ALWAYS chooses to puke on one of the various throw rugs in the house. One time I saw her retching and I picked her up and put her on the linoleum and she ran back to the throw rug and hurled, refusing to barf on bare floor. I really wish she would barf on the hardwood or the linoleum because then I could just quickly wipe it up instead of having to pre-treat and wash the rugs all the time. Does anyone know why cats prefer puking on carpet vs. bare floor surfaces?
- Because cats are smart and lay around on nice soft cushy carpets and unlike mans best friend they don't like cold hard floors. So when they're ready to throw that hairball out, they do it on the nice cushy spot that they're already on.
- Q: Is the Rug Doctor carpet shampooer really all its cracked up to be? And if not what is? I am trying to get rid of urine stains in my dining room from my persistent pooch. Any suggestions?
- The only problem I have had with the Rug Doctor machine is that it really soaks your carpet. I bought a Bissell steam cleaner for under $150 and it works far better and dries in less than 3 hours! Now whenever I have a stain I just grab my own machine and the stain is gone! I also use it on the carpets in my vehicles and on my sofas. It comes with an upholstery cleaner wand. The solution is also less expensive than the Rug Doctor. Good luck!
- Q: I currently operate a rug store that sells almost all persian rugs in Santa Rosa California (in the San Fransisco bay area). Operation is rather stable but I have two issues.1. I sell high quality rugs and hence the prices are more expensive reflecting the quality. However, many customers can find designs similar to mine on the internet at 1/3 to 1/4 of the price. (internet is 600, mine are 3000). If you put the rugs side by side you can DEFINATELY tell the drastic difference in quality. How should I cope with this?2. I am hoping to think of an idea used to promote the sale of these rugs. Any sort of promotion would be great just to get people to start buying.I have money to spend on ideas. Thanks, All help is appreciated. Best Answer will be chosen promptly.
- Try getting a catalog out to the rich folks.
- Q: my brother was painting my room, and paint got on the carpet.ive been removing it with nail polish remover (acetone) so i was wondering if the acetone is bad for the carpet or is it fine?PLEASE ANDSWER!
- For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/Gmwh7 I'd try to get to the store and get non-acetone nail polish remover. The acetone can melt the fibers in the carpet leaving you a bare spot instead of a blue one. I've heard lighter fluid, alcohol and sugar/water kind of paste.....I think I'd go with the non-acetone remover if you can get ahold of some. Or if worse comes to worse.....go over it with blue nail polish....
