White tiles are to cover the center of the floor and green tiles are to form a 2-foot wide border around the white tiles. - this is really just an area question. If it helps you to see it, grab a piece of graph paper. Each sqare represents one till. Mark of 18 tiles in one direction and 15 in the other. Complete the rectangle. Then, shade in the other 2 food wide border. That two tiles in each direction around the outside. Shade the other border. Those are your green tiles. What's the length and width of the inner (white tiles)? Find the area of the whole floor: 18 ft x 15 ft. = 270 tiles Find the area of the white part (unshaded center tiles). (18-2(2))(15-2(2)) = 116 tiles The area of the green part is the area of whole floor - area of white part o= area green part. Since the tiles are 1ft^2 the number of tiles is the same as the area in feet.
- Q:Last year I had my bathroom remodeled. I had a new tub and tile installed. I asked the tile man to put the tiles together and not to have grout lines. He insisted that they HAD to have grout. I told him to put in the smallest, narrowest grout line as possible. Well now the tile grout is looking yucky. I know how to clean it so that is not the question. I just want to know why do you have to have grout in the first place? If the tiles are pushed up against each other with the sides touching and then put in grout in the very small area. why would a professional tile man insist that it MUST have grout?
- Well, obviously the tile man was not aware that there are tiles now on the market that don't have to have grout... In fact, they now make tiles that have a flat edge and are glazed right to the edge. These tiles can be glued with a special glue and need no grout whatsoever as they touch one another. It makes for a very nice finish! I've recently done it in a kitchen with 13 x 13 pure white tiles on a backsplash..it looks great!

- They are usually like giant stickers. The stickly glue is already on the back of them, if not go to a home improvement store, they have glue that you put down before applying the squares. Start in the very middle of the room.

- The last floor I did has been with spacers. The tiles were very uniform and spacers make it go very quickly. Once in a while I need to remove one or two spacers to let an irregular tile fit in without making my lines bulge. I have seen every-day tile guys do it with and without, sometimes with great results and sometimes the opposite.

This forms a staircase which is two letters wide and one letter drop at each step. these can fit together perfectly. What I described has a natural 2 right-1 down pattern (from center of cross to center of cross) and a 1 right- 2 up pattern. The slopes of -1/2 versus 2 are perpendicular to one another, but do not give reflective possibilities (I don't think). Rotations by 90 degrees and slides do occur and I think these are all possibilities. The rotations can be centered at several points.
- Q:hi guys,i had a new shower which was leaking (no waterproofing where it was leaking from..), therefore i have taken off some of the tiles where the water was leaking from and i have waterproofed it with the paste + fibreglass. before i tile, i would like to have a shower to make sure that the water wont leak. am i able to do that? in theory i dont see a problem, but is it ok to get the waterproofing membrane so wet? thanks
