Q: The tile is attached to sheetrock and I don‘t want to damage the sheetrock by ripping off the old tile.
NO!!!! the top tile will crack if you do that do not do that it will be super expensive to get it fixed
Q: We're remodeling our bathroom and looking for tile. Thanks in advance!
if i was you i would first go to a tile shop ...many shops ..and find the tiles you really like first ..take down their number and batch number ..they vary a lot in shade ..then see if you can get the same on the net ..in my experience ..you can do as well in the shop as on the net ..they are all so easier to deal with if something goes wrong
Q: I have really old honeycomb tile in my bathroom and it would be extremely difficult to remove it. The surface is pretty flat .Would ceramic tile work best , or something like self stick vinyl tiles?
If your talking about lino tile on the floor and you want to put ceramic over it? then put 1/4 inch cement board over it for a flat level surface. Then you could put anything you want over that. I wouldn't just put a tile over another tile, you'll run into trouble.
Q: I just installed a backsplash in my kitchen. It is glass mosaics with slate - 1x1. Today I began grouting and after it sat for 2 hours ( as instructed) I began wiping it down with a wet sponge. After scrubbing it for about an hour there is still a considerable amount of grout on the tiles - especially the slate. I used non sanded grout which is recommended for my tiles, but it will not come off! What can I do to remove the grout off of these tiles without scratching them? Please help. Thankyou
Use Vinegar and Water, about 50% mix . Try to wipe each tile without getting into the grout joints. You will most likely have to repeat this with a two cup vinegar to gallon of water bath (okay to get on the grout) bathe two more times to take any lasting film off your slate. That's what I did with my tile throughout my home over a year ago and it's still shines and looks fabulous.
Q: I would like to know what steps to take to prepare the concrete floor for ceramic tile. Part of the floor is cement and part is painted. Do I have to prepare the painted portion before tiling?
Rent a floating machine and skim the floor with thin set mortar. That eleminates imperfections in the slab, giving you a first class substrate for your tile. If the paint on the concrete is tight (not flaking or peeling) you should be able to skim right over it. The machine is a large, electrically driven circular trowel that really smooths things up.
Q: I am planning on laying some tile today but not sure when it can be walked on. Also, can I lay some today and start again tomorrow? It is in a small bathroom.
Tile to a border and don't leave adhesive sticking up, place a board over the tiles after 4 hours and it will stand light traffic, continue this to the end and grout up, should be ok 12 hours after grouting.
Q: We purchased a 12 year old house and some of the ceramic floor tiles are cracked and need to be replaced. Where can you find old ceramic tile patterns? Do I have to replace the entire area?
FINDING OLD TILES ARE LIKE FINDING OLD CAR PARTS slim and none, but don.t dis pair remove one of the old broken or not and take it to local tile only store home depot probably will be of little help as they know their currant supply and only supplier.if all else fails find a complementary style and size and create a new pattern removing the broken and possibly a few not so broken create a new design or bite the bullet.careful in the removal of tiles near tile you want to keep remove grout surrounding the tile you want to remove before you break it out the grout will transfer the impact of a hammer to surrounding tiles breaking more than you want
Q: Someone told me its called tile- something) I know it has a nic-name, do you know it?
Tile Row. It's on State College right past Anaheim Statium. My favorite tile store: Ed Pawlack Tile 601 W Lambert Rd. Brea, CA 92821 714.529.2364
Q: Hello. To clean a fridge water was poured on the lower section . The water spilled out onto the floor where white tiles are. I left for a minute and came back and saw that the white tiles had grey blotches or spots. What happened, and how can I cure this?
Tile won t stain under normal circumstances so I suspect the glaze is a bit worn off rt in front of the fridge.. That can be a wet spot that will dry eventually or stain the tile body in which you have no choice but to r and r the tile(s).. GL
