Q: I need to replace a broken tile. I understand how to grout and tile but I have always done large sections and rented a tile saw. Can I use a dremal tool or something like that to cut it so I do not have to rent a saw ?
dremel would take forever I used an angle grinder with an masonary wheel
Q: I am doing a research project at school on erosion, and one of the members on my research team said something about underground tiles that run water into the nearest body of water. We have been trying to locate a source, or ANY piece of information on this subject, but have failed. Is there anyone who can help us?
These aren't erosion tiles, they are drainage tiles. Do a web search on tile drainage and you'll find out all you need to know about the subject. BTW, tiles and tile lines are just underground pipes with holes in them, used to lower shallow water tables. It wasn't clear to me that you understood this, so sorry if I'm pointing out the obvious.
Q: How to Clean Granite Tiles ? What are the best methods which can be used for Granite Tile
Granite okorder / Safety Tips: Always use safety gear to protect your eyes, nose, legs, gloves. If you are using wet polisher, always read the precaution and safety tips of wet polisher. As it uses water and electricity, be careful.
Q: The tile in our master bathroom is really ugly, but my husband likes the acual tiles themselves. The house was built in 1978 and the colors show bigtime. My question is this; can I paint the tiles a different color or am I just stuck with really ugly tiles until get a ton of money? If I were able to, how would I do this? Thanks in advance!
about the only option is re glazing the tile but not worth it in the long run. tear em out and install new.
Q: I absolutely hate the tile in our main bath, its coming up and in a few places there is no grout, so its basically looks awful. The bathroom is my dogs fav place to be and i am constantly sweeping the gobs of hair that get in the cracks. Are there any suggestions for an eay fix? How much trouble would it be to just fill the cracks with grout and put stick tile over it? Would that be a ridiculous idea?
.. The tile is loose.. hence the grout coming up and tile.. No real easy way to fix..One POSSIBLE solution is to remove all loose tile.. Some may be still bonded. Fill with a self leveling compound and redo with a self stick tile ( this is a temporary fix) and let the dogs have the room back. Or put a sheet vinyl down over the repaired surface using a floating type vinyl that requires no glue. Best is to take it all out and start new, using new tile or sheet vinyl.. GL
Q: How to look at tile quality?
First listen to the sound the more brittle the better, followed by the water to see, the bubble the smaller the better.
Q: My house decoration, the decoration division to pay in the cut tiles, the whole piece of tiles cut on both sides, the rest of the total when the waste thrown. He said it was not straight. Do not you know that you have encountered such a situation? Did he make sense? Is there any way to prove that his operation is in question? Thank you al
in fact, the general brick is no problem, I guess or the master Technical problems, looking for businesses to, in fact, let the business to illustrate the problem, but also to avoid the contradiction between you and the master out.
Q: My home decoration just finished tiles to clean up the tiles when there is a cement with a damp cloth has been wiped out how to do? (My family to buy all the tiles) Will you have nothing to hurt the tile method can be removed? Thank you!
If it is glazed tiles, with a gray knife or iron to large scraping off, leaving a small part of the cotton yarn wiped on the line. If it is quintana brick, (that is, no glazed), the first scraping more, and then wipe with a wire wipe off on the line.
Q: What is the finish height of tile after grout and tile??? For example if I were to lay tile how much would it bring up the floor?? 1half inch???
I answered a similar question to this a couple of weeks ago. I just put in approximately 300 sq feet of ceramic tile in new construction. Using 5/16 cement board screwed to sub floor. The finished height is approximately 3/4. This includes the cement board, thinset mortar and tile. There are multiple ways of increasing the thickness, like put layer of thinset down before installing cement board (adds approx 1/8) or use multiple layers of cement board you can get it from 1/4 to 3/4. Use more or less thin set under tile. Best to measure the thickness of tile and cement backer board. Then add in 1/8 to 1/4 inch for thin set to get approx thickness.
Q: I am currently removing old cork tiles from the floor of my house. They are stuck down to the cement and as I‘m chiselling them up I‘m being left with a lot of glue residue with fragments of the cork too. Any tips on easy removal of the old tiles, but more importantly removing the glue? We are replacing them with new ceramic floor tiles. I was thinking maybe a heat gun and a scraper to clean it up but Dad has suggested a grinder! Any experiences with fast and easy removal of residue? I‘ve still got a room of cork to remove so if there‘s a better way than hammer and chisel I‘d love to hear about it!
Just start scrapping it all off and patch the drywall after with drywall compound....then sand and paint....easy job
