- Q: I have ceramic tile throughout home and in kitchen around one tile the grout or whatever the stuff is between the tile has crumbled and is getting bigger. Can i seal it myself, with what? or do i need to hire a stud to fix it?
- you can go and get it at lowes or home deport and sealing it is like cleaning your windows it is very easy to do, but if you still want a stud just call me
- Q: I have water damage on a ceiling tile in my basement. The water damage is on a tile on the perimiter of the room. The water damage is adjacent to the room wall. However when I pulled the tile up I was surprised that I didn‘t find the source to any water above it. There was also no water damage on the tile where the angle bracket held the tile up. The water damage on the tile started in a straight line from the edge of the angle iron. Also there appeared to be a larger brown stain on the finished underside of the tile with a much smaller slightly damp appearance on the unfinished top of the tile. I‘m wondering if this means that my water source is not above the tile but in fact moisture from the room. However all of my other tiles around this one are dry with no damage. Thanks in advance.
- Check the other tiles on the perimeter for moisture along the same piece of angle.I would then look to see if any pipes run above the cieling at any point.Water will travel to a low spot then pool so the ceiling might not be entirely level,if thats the case then the water could be coming from the outside wall along the channel that holds the tile in place until it begins to rise again. There are an number of potential causes here check everything you can think of.
- Q: 80 by 80 tiles a box of 3 pieces equal to how many squares?
- 800 brick a box of 1.92 square meters, but you decorate some places can not be calculated by this, because the corner or irregular areas need to cut the tile, you'd better let the store to help you, they all know how to engage.
- Q: I‘m going to be putting in a tile floor in my kitchen (all cabinets and appliances removed). I have done my research and have a good idea of what I will be doing - beef up the subfloor with plywood and lots of screws for rigidity; use cement based self leveler to correct a mild slope; install backerboard or decoupling membrane (not sure which yet) followed by the tile.I have a plan, but plans tend to fall apart after their first run-in with reality. Has anyone run into types of problems they don‘t talk about on DIY network? The types of problems complete the following kinds of sentences: are you f***ing kidding me? You have to do ____ before ___? or dammit, why don‘t they tell you you need [insert name of specialized gadget] on a product that cures in 10 minutes? or boy was I an idiot for doing/not doing [insert critically important but not obvious tiling procedure here].?Much obliged, and thanks for the responses.
- Just a couple...ideas make sure you use specialized backerboard screws and not drywall screws buy a medium tile saw...at the beginning you will be quite a newbie..and slower than a pro at making your cuts and you don't want to be under the rental by the hour gun... when you are done..you will feel like a champ and sell the saw on craigslist for about the same money, to another newbie like you..he will thank you!! buy the best mortar money can buy..high end laticrete..you will be happy you did..rookies tend to cheap out on materials..but good thin set has many advantages, like flexibility, pot time etc...adhesion... last but not least porcelain tile and not ceramic.
- Q: Trying to clean my kitchen's Ceramic tiles . Does any one know a good way to clean stain from Ceramic tiles and how to prevent it in future.
- what is the stain caused from?
- Q: 12x12 tiles, what size trowel do i use and how far apart do i space tiles?
- Use a 1/4 space Trowel, The spacing for a normal Lay would be about 1/8 or 3/16 in which you'd use NON-sanded Grout. You decide on how much space you want,it changes the look and amount of grout you'll need, and more work as you go wider, Now, if you go as wide as 1/4 or 1/2 you'll need to use a Sanded Grout. Ask at the home center where you make your purchases, they are knowledgable in that department, The dept has all the accesories you need, the spacers, Trowel, Float and Sponges etc. For the Sealer, get one that is Penetrating sealer,
- Q: Having done some work in the bathroom we would like to reuse some of the tiles we took of which arent broken, does anybody have any suggestions as to how we remove the adhesive and grout so that they can be reused?
- I tile every day of my life, and have been re-mediating an 11,000 sq. ft. floor since the floods. I suggest a Diag. grinder. What matters more than HOW, however, is the substance used to hold the tile. Adhesive or Mortar? For grout removal use a diamond blade on the grinder, and run the blade along the edge of each piece of tile. I also flip the tile over and GENTLY grind off as much THINSET as possible. To re-use, even those not totally clean, use a thinner spread of MORTAR and press, until flush with any adjacent. Steven Wolf Just my two sense
- Q: I want to know how to make tile based map in java. Retro games used tiled maps (to ease programming and memory management) but those games were created in assembly language. I know basic java. Now I want to make a 2d game in java, starting with a pretty basic 2d platformer type or top-down type. To do this, i need to know the technique required to make a map, a tile map.I have already searched in google and youtube and stack overflow, but none helped much. What I learnt is that I have to make some tile object and make a 2 dimensional matrix to store position of particular tiles. But this does not helped much. Thank you.P.S. there are many programs available on the internet for making tile maps, and also there are game making softwares and also libraries. i do not want to use any of those since i want to make my game with whatever java provides. Thank you. Also forgive my poor english.
- first of all, you need to build different densities of 2D tile arrays according to how much of the map will be in the viewport at any given time. For example, a map at neighborhood level will need a gazillion more tiles than a map at the county level. Then, you need a way of converting the geographic reference at the center of the viewport to the tile that is covered at that zoom level, and for finding the adjacent tiles as well. Then, you'll need to calculate what parts of which tiles you are using will need to be clipped and by how much. Build a canvas using this information. As the map moves, you'll need to add on more adjacent tiles, and discard others, update the clipping, etc.
- Q: I would like to remove some tiles from one area of my kitchen and save as many as possible for use in another area of the kitchen. They are heavy 1979 ceramic tiles. How do I get them up and save some of them?
- Having recently removed a s***load of tile during a kitchen remodel, I wish you luck in saving a whole lot of them! Carefully slide a prybar under the edge of the tile---wiggle til it loosens then use the prybar as a lever to remove the tile. It worked for me. Surprisingly many remained whole without chips or cracks, and I wasn't trying to save them. Just didn't want the huge mess involved in the sledgehammer method. LOL
- Q: When did the tiles begin?
- Now there is a new type of tile called the wood, which is a pattern of old boat wood pattern, do very much like oh. Because it is a high-definition scanning, the use of song fax technology will be three-dimensional high-definition scanning of various types of precious wood images in accordance with the basic rules of the surface extension of the unique log, irregular like converted into a plane. And through the digital sculpture technology to make the tiles on the surface of the touch with the real wood is no different
