Q: I need to replace a broken tile. I understand how to grout and tile but I have always done large sections and rented a tile saw. Can I use a dremal tool or something like that to cut it so I do not have to rent a saw ?
Hi Mike H I’m Ken with The Home Depot in California. While a Dremel tool is a great tool, it will take you quite a while to remove all the grout needed in order to get the tile out. Use a grout removal tool. First as JJonDProwl stated make sure you are wearing safety glasses to protect yourself from grout dusk and tile pieces when you’re ready to break the tile. I have attached a link to show you a step by step process on how to remove that piece of tile. This will give you all the information to make you successful in this project. bit.ly/dszCiC Hope this helps.
Q: How is the wax on the new tiles clean?
With water poured in a wax on the tile, the wax after melting by the heat floating in the water, until the water temperature drops, with a rag of a touch of water and wax with the erase. You try it, listen to others say. There is a dry wipes often paint, paint more than no, but it is very environmentally friendly, or you use a rag with a little detergent and other things will have the effect of this is a kung fu live, do not impatient! It is too troublesome to find a clean look over the whole!
Q: Thinking of putting tile on front porch. It has a couple minor cracks. Is there anything that I can put down so that the Tiledoesn‘t crack in the future.
Cover the whole porch over w/ cement as to cover cracks keep porch even then lay tile. Best bet wold be to remove all old cement w/ cracks and start over. It seems everything wants to crack. We just laid a textured patio and it already has 2 huge cracks. We live in washington state and I think it is from small earthquakes. Good luck.
Q: How to completely remove the double-sided adhesive on the tile?
1, with soap plus a little ammonia and turpentine mixture, you can remove many dirt and make the glass surface more shiny (this article applies to tiles, ceramics, glass, etc.). 2, with a good sticky transparent glue repeatedly tear, you can remove some of the surface 3, with a little letter of sodium water to wipe off, or paint thinner can also be. 4, you can use hair dryer dry, and then gently scraping on it 5, wipe with a cotton swab dipped in water. 6, wind oil fine wipe. 7, use a special cleaning agent or sports shoes to remove the cream wipe. 8, with the drawing with the 4b rubber is very soft that kind of Korean rubber can erase it. 9, if it is a long trace of traces have been hardened, you can use the hot towel to get it soft again try again This should be removed, your home glass for the change.
Q: We are tiling our kitchen back splash with travertine tile/ tumbled marble tile.Should we seal the tile before it is on the wall or seal it after it is on the wall?Thank you.
You seal it afterwords.
Q: How can I remove ceramic tiles from a bathroom wall without damage the wall itself, as I want to paint the wall. Would steam help loosen the glue used?
You need to plan that replacing some drywall is inevitable. I've installed thousands of sq. ft. of tile, and unless your bathroom walls are plywood, or concrete backer board, the act of tile removal will tear at the drywall in the removal process. Tile mortar (Quickset) is designed to bond Usually forever, and in that bonding it isn't going to just fall off at a touch,,,unless the wall behind it is already degraded. One option is to remove by scraping,,,STEAM will not work, though might further damage drywall. After scraping, rough sand as smooth as possible, and install new drywall over old. Then finish. Rev. Steven
Q: I am having carpet professionally install, but would like to tile my dinning area. Should I install the tiles first? And how should I leave the transition area of the tile?
I have installed floors professionally for 20 years and tile floors should always be done before carpet if the two are to be transitioned. The reason is that carpet will butt up against the tile, and if you want a good stretch without having the installer make extra visits you will want the tile to be set and preferably grouted first. Hope this helps.
Q: Im looking into renovating our kitchen and thought i would cut some costs with doing some renovating ourselves. Is tiling easy to do yourself, how is it done and what surfaces can they be laid on?Thanks
Tiling is pretty easy, but the easiest way to find out about it is to go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy a book for approximately $20.00 that will give you step by step help. Then, if you still have questions, the people that work at the pro desk can usually help you the most. Unfortunately, it is hard to explain when you need to see some of the things. You will need a special tile cutter to cut the tile, and a trowel and a bag of spacers. Then get yourself the tile, the thinset to glue the tile and the grout to go in between it. You can lay it directly on concrete. If you have a wood floor, they recommend a hardy backer board between the wood and the tile. You can get by without the backer board if you're very careful. When done, you will need to apply a sealer to the grout.
Q: can you tile an old brick fireplacegt;?would it look stupid?
To do that it is a bit more complicated than it sounds. You would need to make the brick surface smooth, no crevaces. It's expensive time consuming. Consider resurfacing the fireplace
Using the production technology, we design a series of noble, elegant, fashion, natural style is high-end ceramic products, to provide more system for modern household adornment, comprehensive selection.
