Q: I am putting in a new water pump this morning on my 2006 chevy trail blazer and i rented the clutch fan removal tools but im new at this and i cant afford anyone else to do it. any advice for a rookie it looks so simple am i wrong
It is very easy and straightforward. The hardest part is the fan clutch unless you have the proper tools. You have that part covered. DO NOT USE ANY SILICONE SEALER!!!!! Be sure all traces of old gasket are removed and install the new gasket dry. Use an anaerobic sealer on the wet bolts. Those are the ones that are through drilled into the water passages. Clean off the threads then use a light coat of sealer. I use either Permatex (brown stuff in the tube) or pipe joint dope. Now is also a great time to flush the system, replace thermostat, and drive belt(s).
Q: My car started to leak anti-freeze Really fast, so i had to pour water in there to keep it from overheating, so i took it to my mechanic, and left it there overnight, and they call me the next morning and tell me that the water pump needs to be fixed, and a few belts got water damage on them, and a a few driving belts need to be replaced. he said it would come out to be 695.97, does that sound like the right cost?
actual okorder ....bet its 150 dollars..... around...u may get someone to do it for 400 to 500... water damage on the belts LOL,,,every time u go through a puddle they get water on them
Q: Why my Water Pump is leaking again? It was replace 2 month ago brand new water pump?
I'm sure you used a brand new gasket correct?I'm also sure you scraped any old residual gasket material off the block before you installed the new gasket and water pump correct? You're also suppose to torque the bolts on this water pump in a certain sequence and to 40 ftlbs. If its leaking from between the pump mounting surface and block, its most likely improperly torqued or under torqued bolts, old gasket material wasn't cleaned off good enough,or the block surface has gouges in it which are too deep for just the gasket to seal.If its leaking from the underside of pump out of weep hole, the remanufactured water pump is no good and needs replacement.Make sure none of your hoses clamps are loose.Make sure its coolant leaking and not silicone fluid from the fan clutch.Fan clutch also needs to be stored upright when its not bolted to the water pump.If not, this can cause fluid to start leaking out of clutch.Click link below for vehicle water pump diagram and related info.
Q: Where is the water pump located in a 1995 Toyota tacoma pick up truck. Please be as specific as possible as the the location of the pump. Like what is it undwr or next to...etc
Look at the fan and you'll see a pulley...it's attached behind that pulley. You're gonna have to remove the fan and shroud, remove the belt, remove the pulley and then remove the water pump, clean the gasket surface, and install the new one the same in reverse.
Q: Hello,I have a Kia Spectra, 4 doors, automatic, 1.8, 2002, 64000 miles, and the alternator belt just broke. It seems that there is a chance that the water pump was lost on the process.I looked on line and to buy from the dealership, these pieces together would cost me around $70.What would it be a fair price for the service? (thinking that I was unlucky enough to lose the water pump? How do I know if my water pump is good and they are only changing it to make me spend more money???I am a girl (foreign student), and don't understand of car, or know any repair shop that could take care of that...Thanks!!!
Changing a water pump is usually costly because it can be time consuming. Having the belt on your car break should not cause your water pump to go out, but having your water pump go out could cause your belt to break. A way to check your water pump would be to make sure that the pully spins freely but that it does not wobble or have extra play. Another sign that your water pump is going bad is when it begins to leak. This means that the seals are bad, and that water can now get into the bearings causing them to degrade and eventually seize up.
Q: Why does the water pump leak?
The leakage of water pump is caused by many factors:1, the axial movement of the bearings (axial clearance is too large, resulting in static and dynamic ring open. Leak water.2, and automotive cooling liquid is also related to, if the pH of the coolant is large, will corrode the water seal of the surface, resulting in leakage.3, and the user's use is also related, and some users do not properly maintain, add an unclean coolant, resulting in impurities in the coolant. Accumulation in the water seal surface, destroy the water seal torus, forming water leakage.
Q: The pump works and water goes to the house from the reserve tanks but there can be long delays before it cuts in after mains pressure is lost. After it stops the pressure gauge falls back slowly to zero. Pressure vessel is a sphere has a valve on top. Any suggestions ?
Sorry I don't know the Espa make but the theory is the same...if the pressure falls once the pump stops, that sounds like a leak in the lines somewhere (most probably the foot valve needs repacement.the fact that the pressure falls to 0 lbs would mean either that the pressure switch is not set properly or it also needs replacement.normal settings for household systems are either cut in at 20lb cut out at 40lbs or cut in at 30lbs and cut out at 50lbs.Check your pressure tank if its got a bladder it should be pressurized to 2lbs below cut in pressure this should be done with the pump off and no water pressure.IF your tank is a non bladder model empty it completly and then prime and restart the pump.
Q: my heater in my 94 ford ranger went out about a month ago today i flushed the heater core and it worked for a while and started going out again after i was driving for 15 to 20 mins. the hose going into the heater core was warm but coming out wasnt. could it have gotten clogged again or could it be something else.
You need to find the Heater Core water valve.. That's the part that works as the TEMP. Control.. Water Pumps don't die slowly..and leak tremendously.. === Sometimes the Water Control valve(seizes).. So..you need somebody to throw the TEMP Lever back and forth..until you can find the valve location.. You may see the cable moving--put not acting upon the valve.. Usually the valve is shot--spraying a lubricant at it won't do anything.. It needs to be removed--too be worked upon.. Also check all the heater hoses for wear--damage--you may need to rebuild that part of the system.
Q: 2000 Jetta GLX VR6Problems:- AC is no longer working- The Reader said quot;STOP!quot;CHECK COOLANTI pulled over and checked the Coolant and it was full- The Car will overheat to about 260 whenever I am sitting with the Engine Running- When I start the car its on Zero Degrees and then Slowly makes it way to 190 degrees which is in the middle quot;Normalquot;- Oil Seems to be fine---- What does this sound like to you??--- Also, The VW Dealer said I needed to be without my Car for Two days so I will drop it off Friday Night and leave it until Wednesday. Do you think it will last until Friday driving 60miles a day??-- If it is the Water Pump... How much do you *think* I am looking at paying? I am taking it to the VW Dealer b/c I have a Recall they need to fix too.
To be sure that its the water pump or not, try this simple practical procedure; 1. remove the coolant reservoir cover (the pressure tank) 2. make sure the water level in it is up to the recommended maximum level 3. start the engine, and see if water is returning to the water reservoir via the return hose/pipe, and if the water is moving down the inlet hose to the engine block 4. if water return to the resevoir via the return hose and water is moving down to the engine, the the water pump is fine. 5; check if your thermostat is not faulty, this can be responsible for abnormal measurement of the water temperature. 6. you used the word FULL, I hope u did not filled the resevoir to the top with water, above the maximum level? in that case you can get high temperature on your gauge. Goodluck. I am a mechanic
Q: In this area (picture) its leaking quite a bit of coolant underneath the car it is heavy dripping. Could it be the water pump? Car is over heating .It almost looks like its missing a screw or something where the coolant is dripping.
You're trouble could be one among two.....The gauge cluster could be bad and want exchanged out(the dealer does no longer restore them),or the gasoline sender(or flow/level sensor)which is attatched the the gasoline pump(does no longer include pump)could be inaccurate. The vendor or repair facility easily makes use of your old sender when changing the pump(which is a dumb thing to do once they have already got the tank out of the auto). And oh incidentally........A GMC is nothing more than a re-badged Chevrolet....And were considering that 1996 once they stopped making GMC seperate on the truck and bus plant and diverted all manufacturing to the Chevrolet crops....Equal construction line, distinctive title plates,do not let anybody fool you about GMC being reliable grade,no more durability...Just more money !
