- Q: recently purchased a 85 z31 rolling shell need help on where i can get a complete engine. The car came with a 5 speed transmission but needs clutch and flywheel. Does anyone know if i can get a different engine for it? It came with the original block and pistons but no head original turbo engine doesn‘t have turbo. Also is there any way to put a wrx turbo on it because i am not sure if the T3 turbo is reliable?any help i would appreciate. Also im in central Califonia.
- The turbo model was very different; if you want to put a turbo in it (only practical because it is a rolling shell) you will want to buy a donor vehicle with unrepairable body damage. The suspension system is entirely different, the control modules in the console are completely different, and the harnesses are completely different. Wrecking yards are a good source for the engine in any case - try checking out the source for engines around you. I would not try a foreign turbo. I would say under that condition the job is doable, but in California it may be a much bigger job than you want to get into. CARB approval can be a nightmare, and without it the car can't be licensed in California. This is not a bad project car, but as you assemble it look at everything. I had a 1984 and it had a lot of little things wrong, especially with the wiring. Fixing it up before you put an engine in the way will make it a lot easier. Especially look at the injector connectors; if the boot is damaged the connector will corrode badly if any water gets in. Dielectric grease might be a good idea for all the connectors. Oh - the low voltage connector on the ignition coil drove me crazy for months, causing the car to stall in traffic and start again in a few seconds. It did that hundreds of times before I caught it in the act. Grease that puppy.
- Q: What is the meaning of the independent suspension of the car?
- Is passing bumpy road when the independent suspension of the wheel beating does not implicate the other side of the wheel, so as to keep the body smooth.
- Q: I hit a curb in snow covered roads and not sure what‘s wrong with car. It does‘nt steer correctly and makes a rubbing noise.
- At a minimum you probably knocked it out of alignment. More likely, you bent something, too. Take it to an alignment shop. They can check the wheel alignment and adjust it or figure out what is bent. .
- Q: I want airbags that act similar to hydro‘s
- 1)yes 2)yes, you can use that lug. ?) is there a bar that runs from neutral bar w/lug to the other neutral bar? you can bond the neutral bar to the can itself and put the neutral and ground wires on the same bar, unless you have equipment that needs an isolated ground. good luck.
- Q: Or will many of them simply retrain so they can fix electric cars?(I would suppose some of them might but electric cars are a whole different ball of wax, if you know what I mean. They are extremely different than the internal combustion engine that currently powers cars. But I would imagine some things might not change too much. Maybe the brakes and tires might not change much. Maybe the transmission might not drastically change. Who knows.)
- Many of the conventional systems will carry over. However there is plenty of natural gas and crude oil for centuries, so there is not a need for a death knell to an industry yet. Conventional fuels will still rule the roads for at least another century. Internal combustion engines will be around for a long time to come. When new technologies come along, there is plenty of lead time for advanced training on the part of the mechanics continuing education requirement for SAE certifications. The real problem is getting qualified instructors into the techncial colleges who actually understand electronics at the component level of a circuit board rather than merely assembly replacements. A lot of the manufacturers also have to adjust to the realities of the needs of the mechanics and dealerships too. Part of the rationale for the OBDII specification implementation was to get the home mechanic out of the picture. That is where the biggest changes will occur with electric vehicles.
- Q: I wana know the best springs, struts bars or whatever i need ro put on my 1996 honda civic so that i can carry alot of weight and prevent my 17x7 rims from grinding against the frame every time i hit a bump
- The stock suspension will hold just fine. I have 17's on my civic. Stock suspension. No problems with the rims hitting the frame. If yours are hitting the frame then either your stock suspension is damaged or worn out of you already have an aftermarket set up that is too low. Just check.
- Q: i have an 84 S-10 2wd and i want to put a suspension lift on it but i have a independent front suspension so how can i do it? i dont want to lift it super huge just like a max of 6 inches
- first of all, 6 inches is pretty big. for an s-10 go with a 3 inch max. if you go any higher your truck will never handle the same way again and you have to extend break lines and all that stuff. you will just run into problems. it will cost you a little more to lift that truck with the independent suspension depending on what you do. you can just replace the coils in the front (if you have coils) but you will loose articulation. your second choice is to replace the whole front suspension system with an aftermarket one. i dont know if they make many for your truck but you can look around online. good luck
- Q: I have a 2006 passat bought it with 66,000 miles. Everything is stock. I can clearly hear now only when i go over a bump or indentation in the road do I hear a weird sound which I believe is coming from my suspension system. Accurately describing the sound is difficult, but its like a crushing noise. Something like as if the suspension is compressing than decompressing too hard? I dont know. Any tips of what could be wrong? (this started before it was cold out too).
- Volkswagen utilizes a floating strut design, wherein the top mount for the strut isn't actually secured like most other cars. This causes a higher probability of noise when the struts get bad, also has a knack for cracking the strut towers. Also, VW's are well known for having rear axle bushings go out. It's not truly an axle, more of a swing-arm like a bike, but the bushings go out and create loud noises as well.
- Q: Often walking hard cement broken road, the car's suspension should be how to choose?
- If you consider the comfort of the occupants, you should choose the independent suspension of the vehicle, the independent suspension of the car: the shaft is divided into two sections, each wheel by the coil spring independently installed in the frame below, when the side of the wheel beating, the other side of the wheel Affected, both sides of the wheel can be independent movement, improve the stability of the car and comfort.
- Q: I just changed battery in my 2005 Cadillac Escalade. Now it seems as if I‘m getting a really hard ride(like theres a problem with suspension). Is there something I must do to reset the system?I know on the Lincoln Navigator theres a on/off switch for its suspension system do the Escalade have one also?
- look in the back of the vehicle on the left hand side and youll see an on off switch cut it off and wait for 1 minute and then cut it back on and see what happens i have to do the same thing when my leveling system needs to be reset
