Q: The front is higher than the back How much does this cost to fix and what exactly is wrong with my car?
tire, front end shop will inspect and give estimate for free.
Q: Hi:I am in the process of replacing the struts and shocks. My car at the moment has 15 inch wheels, but I am planning on mounting 18 inch wheels. I have 3 questions. First, how can I figure out if my car has a sport suspension system? Second, I see that shock companies have sport and heavy duty type of shocks and struts. What type of struts and shocks do I need? What type of brands are good? I was looking into bilstiens, monroes and koni str. And finally, would I need to change the springs if I want to mount 18 inch wheels? Thanks everybody for your time and knowledge. It is surely appreciated.
Well i have been looking int this myself too. i want 16s on my e30 but anyway putting larger wheels on the car means there will be like a thinner tire so there wont be as visible from the side if that makes sense, just the wheel will take up more space, but the diameter of the wheel and the tire together will be the same as it was originally. BUT if the wheel has a wider base then you might need to roll you fenders i think ?? : / . to make more room fr when you turn them. So, sport shocks and springs will lower you car about maybe 2'' in the front and 1.5'' in the back, this will create better handling and less body roll but possibly a less smooth ride because when coupled with springs there's less space so there needs to be more tension, so its not as absorbent. Heavy duty springs shouldn't lower the car i think, maybe a little, but are just built to provide best ride and shock absorbency. so it depends on what your looking for. im looking to get bilstiens because they seem really well reviewed and are german too so they go together lol. konis i hear are good ant i think have adjustable ride height or something like that but lots of people are pleased with them, never heard of monroes because im focused on the bilstiens. ohh and to find out if it has a spot suspension, if it hasnt been swaped then its stock, and even thought its might be a sport suspension its really not, im guessing maybe its a second owner car? but check the labor records and or call the previous owner or something, OR also take a look at them certain shocks have different colors i dont think you can tell in the front since theyre hidden inside the strut mount. Anyways hope this helps
Q: Hi, I live in Ohio and over the past 3 months have gotten two speeding tickets. One in June and now one in september. My first ticket I had to pay a fine and do community service hours, but due to a program my court system has it was never put on my record or reported to the BMV/insurance company. My question is now that I have my second ticket will I receive a license suspension? Ive heard that in Ohio the BMV is required to hand out a license suspension for minors with 2 moving violations, but seeing as my first one was never reported to the BMV does that apply?thanks
Well honestly you need to slow down, but anyways, due to the fact that I just got off the phone with BMV of Ohio, the lady said that yes it is true that if you are under the age of 18 and receive 2 moving violations, that you will receive a suspension. Then I asked her what if the first one was never put on record, she then told me then it is not going to effect you. That is all you had to do was call them.good luck and slow down!! LOL
Q: I just bought a 2001 Eclipse GS there was already new headers and exhaust. Now i want to put some more into it and need advice on what to get. Can any one help please?!?
hey why dont you go put a nice turbo kit on it and go race some civics how bout that?
Q: I own a 2004 Toyota RAV 4 4-wheel drive. The suspension system is the original factory installed. I want to replace the whole system with new shocks and struts ++, and I need help on the parts I will need to order (mail order online from the U.S. since I live in a foreign country). So far I‘ve looked at strut assemblies (front left/right); shocks (rear left/right); shock bushings; stabilizer bar link (rear left/right); strut mounts (front left/right); and sway bar link (rear left/right and front). Am I on the right track?
Rarely do I modify a suspension system unless I am not happy with it. What is your goal? How does it ride/handle now and what are you changing? Is the original suspension wore out? Are you looking at stock (OEM type) replacements or are you altering the suspension, like beefier (larger diameter) anti-sway bars? Another common modification is to replace OEM (rubber) bushings with neoprene bushings. I just bought a 1980 Triumph convertible TR7. It came new with soft front springs, not good for a sports car. So, I just ordered off Ebay a set of much firmer springs that I can adjust the ride height to suit myself. I will also replace the front strut inserts (most cars don't have inserts) with a firmer shock. If you just want to restore your suspension to like new condition, you are on the right track. If you want to change the handling characteristics, then you need to plan it out carefully as to what your goals are.
Q: Dear all,Whilst I send my car for its periodic servicing (every 5K KM), it occured to me today that the suspension system are not being paid attention to.What could be done to the suspension system? When one mentioned tightening, what is it that‘s being tightened? I just want a decent ride and nothing sporty to the handling. Thanks all.
Just pump grease into the grease zerks (if your car has them!). That should take care of the suspension.
Q: when you get suspended from yahoo answers how long does it take you to not be suspended
i dont think its that long
Q: I‘m looking at a used cars and I‘ve found a 2001 Continental that I like. I‘ve always had GM cars so I‘m not sure what to look for, or what could go wrong w/ this Continental. With this car I‘m afraid of high cost repairs and problems w/ electrical and suspension systems. Are they expensive to repair? Are they reliable? Thank you!
The only expensive fix is the air ride suspension which you can get below in my sources. The engine/transmissions go at least 200,000 miles with before needing new parts. The engine was in the mark 8 which is the same engine they eventually put in the mustang mach 1s and the cobras(supercharged though). The conti, Mark VIII, mustang mach 1s and cobras have a 4 valve engine, while the towncar and mustang gt has a 2 valve per cylinder engine. The frame is NOT the panther platform(like the crown vic, towncar and marquis). It is the d186 platform which the taurus, windstar and the mercury sable were built on. Alternators cost around 200 bucks and every other part is comparable to a 3800 engine(except 2 extra cylinders). I went from a grand prix gtp to a lincoln mark 8 and a continential and I am amazed at how much better cars they are. So in general they are very reliable, they are about 4/10 on repair cost(higher is more expensive) and they drive 10x better than a gm. I put some links below for you- 1) cheap parts for it 2) fixing stuff in your car/tech articles 3) reviews from people owning a 2001 year 4,5) air suspension parts- suncore buys from arnott though
Q: I am going to need to build a suspension system for a hand made small car-like creation (which has wheels) which will need to carry a load over some hilly terrain. For the suspension system I will need use rubber bands and other things. Anyway will the rubber band be more similar to a coil spring or a leaf spring. And any ideas how to build a suspicion system with:lengths of threaded rodeye hocksvarious shaped plastic membersstringnuts boltsrubber bandsPlease help me :)
Leaf springs are multi layered. Imagine a single 2x4, 10 feet long. Put up saw horses, and lay your 2x4 on top. Nail each end of the board to the horses. Climb on top and walk across the 2x4, it will sag most at the half way point. Now cut a second 3x4, 6 feet long. Place it two feet in from each end. Nail it and walk across again. This time it will not bow as much, and if you add another 2x4, four feet long. One foot in on each side from the ends of the six foot board. Nail it and climb up. It may not bow at all and if it dose bow it will be a fraction of the single ten foot boards bow. That's a leaf spring, it's layered. You could use a Popsicle stick and get the same results. A coil spring is tempered coil of steel that is designed to support a predetermined weight. It starts out longer and compresses under the load. It can't be compressed it the point of letting the suspension and the frame meet. That's where the bounce comes from, it's loaded with the vehicles weight, and is able to contract and expand just a little more, without the Components touching. Look up torsion bar suspension, it's really cool. .
Q: what is RIDE CONTROL in cadillac sedan deville?
It's the air ride suspension. If the ride control message is coming up on your dash there's a problem with your system. It would help if you had included the year in your question.Suggest you log on to ahw cadillac resources. There you'll find instructions on how to access the on board diagnostics to retrieve the codes.I have to warn you these suspension systems are super expensive to fix.The factory shocks for my '95 eldorado were $1200 bucks each. You may have to go to an aftermarket system.I suggest you check out strutmasters or sun core industries.
