- Q: I have auto tech test in a few days on the suspension system of cars and I am confused about the difference between the shock absorber and the spring, and the function of each.
- No need to worry. If you're too stupid to tell the difference between a shock absorber and a spring, you're never going to pass the test anyway.
- Q: Im trying to stiffen up my suspension. i also want to be able to adjust it. its a daily driven car. i already have a good bit of mods but im getting ready to put on a S/C and cam change so im gonna need a little more support. Not trying to build a 9 sec car, just 10 to 11. any recommendations for springs, sub frame connectors that will make my car handle corners and give a good launch? im trying to spend less than $1,000. thanks for your help
- is this a serious question!!!?? i would also like to know what kind of blow off valve i need for my 2004 mustang cobra w/ 2.3L 4 cylinder. True ricer cobra
- Q: I have a 1995 Lexus LE, and there‘s an orange light on the far left corner of my dash that says Height HI and I don‘t know what it means o.O can someone help me figure this out?
- Possibly the adjustable suspension: The Electronically Modulated Air Suspension system is likely discussed in the Starting and Driving section of your owners manual. The High position of the Height button raises the car body slightly on its suspension For driving on rough roads which are unsurfaced or continually bumpy. Also from the owners manual: If the HI indicator light blinks, there is a malfunction in the system. Have the system checked by your Lexus dealer at the first opportunity. There is a lengthy diagnosis procedure for the Air Suspension system in the repair manuals for your car. If your you or your mechanic do not have the repair manuals, the diagnosis procedure can be found at the subscription based online Lexus tech info website
- Q: if you could change something in the terms of service of yahoo answers, what will it be? changes in chatty violations? insulting other members? suspensions? warnings? etc
- well first we need year make and model bud,
- Q: Rear suspension problem- back of the car is lower than normal. hello; I have an X5 4.4i 2005, the back of the car is lower that normal and the dashboard display saying rear suspension not adjusted. history: 3-4 weeks ago I drove the car to work as normal, leaving in the afternoon i noticed that the back one side is lower than the other, but after starting it up it adjusted it self. now the back suspension both sides are low and one of them is lower than the other still. I read some comments saying i need to re bot the computer system with buttons available to me on the dashboard But my car model does not have the said buttons. please advise. Thank you Andrew
- If it's an x5, you are probably, and when I say probably, I mean, change both of them and buy a spare. More than likely, your vehicle has self-leveling rear-axle suspension. This means that your vehicle has air bags in place of the rear shock absorbers. There is an air pump under the rear cargo mat. It regulates compressed air between what are basically, two cylindrical air bags places where a gas strut would normally be. These air bags (pneumatic springs) rot away from folding under the weight of the car and leak. The car pumps and pumps, but the ride height doesn't change, so it tell you that it isn't work and stops trying. I'd recommend changing both of them at the same time and clearing the module's fault codes with a GT1. My company charges 2 hours to change one. So I would say 3 hours elsewhere. Pretty straightforward to do, if you know what you're doing. You can find it in the BMW catalog under: REAR AXLE SELF-LEVELLING SUSPENSION LEVELL.DEVICE, AIR SPRING AND CTRL UNIT
- Q: Hi, I live in Ohio and over the past 3 months have gotten two speeding tickets. One in June and now one in september. My first ticket I had to pay a fine and do community service hours, but due to a program my court system has it was never put on my record or reported to the BMV/insurance company. My question is now that I have my second ticket will I receive a license suspension? Ive heard that in Ohio the BMV is required to hand out a license suspension for minors with 2 moving violations, but seeing as my first one was never reported to the BMV does that apply?thanks
- Well honestly you need to slow down, but anyways, due to the fact that I just got off the phone with BMV of Ohio, the lady said that yes it is true that if you are under the age of 18 and receive 2 moving violations, that you will receive a suspension. Then I asked her what if the first one was never put on record, she then told me then it is not going to effect you. That is all you had to do was call them.good luck and slow down!! LOL
- Q: The car is a 1997 BMW 528i. Im trying to see if its worth buying this car or not.
- the suspension system ??? What is that? What are you asking? Replace something? Shocks? Bushings, links, tie rods? NEED MORE INFO!!!!
- Q: how does hydraulic systems work?
- That's a complicated question but it's essentially leverage. A smaller cylinder moves fluid into a larger one.
- Q: For example, 1:18 scale model cars made by Maisto include a suspension system, where the model car actually sits on working springs. Are Big Time Muscle‘s 1:18 scale model cars built the same way?
- No. Jada Toys/Big Time Muscle 1:18 die-cast model vehicles don't sit on suspension springs/coils. Its just a rod and wheels like hot-wheels. Also, the detail on the engine bloc and seats are usually all made out of plastic. Maisto are far more better in quality. )
- Q: My car lease is up in 3 months and the service dept. says these are worn out. I really don‘t want to spend the money to fix these before I turn it in. Is my car unsafe or will it fall apart on the freeway?
- These are part of the suspension system, so if they have failed your car already has a safety issue. The parts are not expensive, and should be replaced before attempting to sell the car - or you must formally tell a potential new owner clearly of this known issue so there is no possible claim against you if they go round a corner and lose control. As it is a leased car you have to look at the terms of lease - the lessor may be responsible for major maintenance, or if you have a lower price lease you may find you are required to keep the car at a certain level or be charged for all work to return the car to an agreed standard on the completion of the lease. Better to deal with it, you may find the car is weaving a little now but you don't notice as the problem appears gradually over time. If you have a workshop manual it will clearly show the replacement procedure - this is a normal service action as these parts are expected to fail over time. The type of roads you drive on will greatly influence how quickly these parts wear too.
