- Q: what size of wire should I use for my 1.5hp aircon, 220volt
- #12 because it runs for 3 hours or more and if you get a larger one it will be cababile of running it
- Q: thats how my after market stereo is hooked up..i just got a system and was wondering if i join the remote wire to the accessory would it be ok? even if the accessory is already joined with the illumination
- You need to first disconnect the accesory wire on the aftermarket radio from the illumination wire from the car harness if you are using hose connection to turn on the radio. You need to connect the accesory wire from the aftermarket radio to the accesory wire from the car radio harness, if you are using a wire harness then it would be the red wire and if the factory radio harness is cut then u'll need a test light to locate the accesory wire. On the aftermarket radio harness/plug locate the blue/white wire that's where u will need to connect the remote wire to, in order to turn your amp on and off. Don't connect the remote wire to the illumination wire from the car, or the radio harness.

- Q: siting on a roof and the wire is running into the house, what if you touch it?
- You could get a shock or die. It depends on the insulation, if any, on the wire, and if your body is touching something grounded, like a TV antenna. .
- Q: Hi,I'm looking to change the outlets and the switch and light fixture in a bedroom of a home built in 1948. The outlets are original to the home I think. Will I have to fish ground wire throught to the panel box for my new receptacles? Or just install new 2 slot outlets? Why the different looking wires? Is the older wire copper with a silver colored coating to indicate being neutral or is this an old aluminum wire? The hot wire is red plastic coated and looks modern to me.
- In '48 your house won't have a ground wire as you found out. If it is wired with BX cable ( metal clad) you can see in the basement or crawl space, the ground is actually taken to the outlet by the metallic casing. Then all you would have to do is get a bag of ground wires with screws already crimped on them at Home Depot called Greenies. You screw them into one of the holes inside the box and attach the other end to the ground screw on the switch or outlet. The red casing you are describing actually sounds like red electrical tape wrapped around deteriorating wire in the box as the other wire looks raggy. The wire you see that looks aluminum MAY be aluminum someone added in the '70's when al wire was used, but BOTH would be replaced and there would have been a ground wire. I don't know why it looks silver, but I have seen old wiring like that and it is usually copper. If you see the BX cable you are good adding the ground wire, if it is a silvery looking cloth casing, then install new NON-grounded receptacles.
- Q: How can you make the fabric with silk fabric wrinkle free after washing?
- Hand washing machine or washing machine without special injection, dilute the product with water, and stir evenly, put into the laundry, soak for 3 minutes, remove and air.
- Q: im gettin a amp and sub for my car and was wondering how would i make a wiring kit for it ... i have basic knolage of wires but thats about it thanks in advance
- the wiring kit is usually: - low gauge cable of certain length (x2) - rca cable of a certain length (x1) - small power connect cable (x1) seeing as these things are already pretty much in their simplest form, I don't see the practicality of making your own wiring kit. just buy one.
- Q: home, thermostat, wiring
- green wire is 24 volts from the t-stat to the indoor fan relay, i promise! unless it's a trane. trane has their own wiring codes and i don't remember trane wiring at this time. i can look it up but don't want to. green goes to the indoor fan relay, for real. the fan relay energizes 110 volts and turns the indoor fan on. be careful jacking around with that stuff. remember, you have low voltage from the transformer and t-stat and high voltage everywhere else. the outside stuff is 220 volts. ZZZZZZZZZZZZ!
- Q: All household socket have two wires.Plese do not mention grounding, the ground would act as de-facto second wire
- This kind of depends on how you define the one wire. I can take a single wire and run it from the pos. pole on a battery over to the neg. pole, current will flow. If I shoot a model rocket with a single wire attached into a thunder cloud, current will flow. The problem comes in when you want to actually place a load into the circuit and make that current do some work. There HAS to be a return line, or ground, otherwise the circuit is open and no current can flow.
- Q: I am installing a Pioneer head unit in a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder. All the wires from the harness to the deck are connected according to color. I was able to connect all of the wires except for the stock orange/black wire coming out of Nissan's harness. I am assuming this wire has something to do with the illumination. The pioneer does not have an orange/black wire to connect it to. The deck will not turn on at all if the orange/black wire is:- not connected to anything- connected to the red power wire- connected to the yellow power wireThe deck will turn on if the orange/black wire is:- connected to the black ground wire- connected to the remote wireHowever when the headlights are turned on the head unit cuts off and will not turn back on until the headlights are shut off again. In other words, the deck will work fine until the headlight switch is turned to the on position. Does anyone know a solution to this problem? Thanks, Dan
- This link may not be accurate... The only wire I see in the first link which is close in color is the black/yellow wire for the left rear speaker ground....no black/orange combo shown. Factory ground wire should be grey...test with a test light to confirm Constant power is pink....test also Switched power is blue...test also Once you confirm which wires are power and ground, hook those up to the deck wiring and then run the speaker wires to the proper ones on the factory harness. You can't always connect the same color wires from an add-on deck unit to factory wiring....wiring colors will differ. Consult the installation instructions or call the deck manufacturer tech assistance hotline. Make sure you have the correct wires from the deck hooked up to those factory wires....I'm thinking you have the wrong wire hooked up to the rear speaker ground or deck ground and the unit will only ground when that wire is activated somehow when the light switch is on.... /blue? is the factory illumination wire according to the first link. Have you got that hooked up wrong with the deck ground or speaker?
