- Q: I am replacing my garbage disposal. I have black, white wires and a black/yellow wire. How do I connect this black/yellow wire. Is this a hot wire as well?
- Check the color ,should be green yellow or blue yellow or dark blue yellow ,and that is ground wire ,mostly they have a ring brass connected to that wire .
- Q: Can I run a 10 gauge 2 wire plus ground from a double pole 30 amp breaker to a dryer that uses 240v? I need to know if the one black wire will be sufficient or if i need to get a 2 hot one neutral wire.
- You can use the 10/3 wire, but you wire it so that the black and the white are hot wires and the ground is the neutral. Of course you won't have the bare ground to use as a ground anymore, so if you want it wired with a bare ground to the cabinet, you will need to run a separate bare ground. Or get different wire with a red a black a white and a bare ground. Red and black will be hot, white will be neutral and bare ground will be ground.
- Q: Will a subwoofer amplifier wiring kit be for the sub and the amplifier???? Because I'm searching online and I can find amplifier wiring kits, but not a subwoofer wiring kit. Only a subwoofer amplifier kit???
- In terms of amp wiring subs are no different than speakers. Just make sure you know the rms power of the amp and related current requirements so you choose the correct wire size. Also understand that the unusually inexpensive kits are not usually very honest about the actual size of the wire. 8 awg will cover you up to about 600w rms. An 8 awg kit should have a 50-60A fuse. 4 awg will cover up to 1000-1200w rms and should include at LEAST an 80A fuse, preferably 100-150A.
- Q: I have noticed that a room in my house is improperly grounded, and it needs to be redone. We do know that most of the wiring is made with a single core, copper wire. Would there be a hazard with using a multi core (speaker) wire for the grounding, or should we do the wiring with a single core wire.
- Single Core Wire
- Q: I am trying to test a engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT), and in one of the tests it states quot;connect the terminals of the electrical connector with a jumper wirequot;. Where can I find a jumper wire? Does it has to be an specific gauge or any jumper wire? please helpd
- Jumper wire is just any piece of wire that allows you to connect two other wires/terminals whatever. You could probably even use a paperclip if it will fit, just have to be careful when jumpering that you don't let the bare material short to ground.
- Q: I am trying to hook up my motorcycle turn signals but am having trouble with the wiring. Off of each signal stem comes a red wire (positve) and black wire (negative). Then coming form my bike I have a purple wire, blue wire, and green wire. I was messing around with the connections and was able to get all my signals to light up, but not in the fashion i need, like blinking correctly. Any suggestions? Do I need to split the wires? Does one wire go to the left signal and one to the right?
- There are many model specific forums out there that would probably be a better place to ask this question. If this is a common model of motorcycle I would try looking for one. To hazard a guess, the green wire should be split and connected to the black wires. The purple and blue would then be the positive. Trial and error would tell you left and right. If you have a multimeter it would eliminate the guesswork.
- Q: I recently purchased a 1-wire alternator and I'm not sure what to do with the wire harness that was on my stock alternator. Also not sure what the three wires on it go to. Can anyone experienced in alternator wiring tell me what these wires do and if it is ok to leave them unhooked?
- Connect the existing larger wire to the stud with the 7/16 nut. That goes straight to the battery+. Use a test light to find the smaller wire that goes hot with the ignition on.That goes to the terminal marked f or field. That turns the alternator on and off so it doesn't drain the battery when the engine is off. The other terminal on the alternator is to the gauge or light.
- Q: Hello,I am trying to figure out what type of metal jewelry wire I need for a beading project. I found mostly copper wire at the craft store, as well as a smaller variety of aluminum and brass wire. Is this copper wire (came in many colors) a durable wire? It seemed very soft. Is there a stronger wire on the market? I am mostly looking for 22-28 gauge wire. Thanks!
- there are an entire heap of distinctive wires for all of the diverse issues you additionally could make. so as that is my first question, what do you ought to make? in case you're only beginning out, i'd advise paying for a sturdy determination of distinctive wires and prepare to discover what works for you. inventive wires or craft wires are suitable as they are much less costly. you additionally can circulate with silver/gold plated wires.
- Q: I have two ceiling lights in my kitchen that come into the same wiring box (light switch). It's a single light switch that controls both lights. I want to install a two fixture light switch so that I can turn on each light by itself. It looks like there are only two wires coming into the box...a black one and a white one (and a ground wire). The two-switch I bought is requiring three wires though. How do I wire this thing?
- if you don't know how to wire for what you want ..i could not tell you enough to get you through the job..but , you can get a pull string on / off switch at the hardware store that will do the same thing that you want ..anyone can do that..just unscrew the light bulb and screw in the pull switch then screw in the light bulb ..they do have them in remote control but they ain't cheap..good luck
- Q: Planning a study for my youth group. The name of the series will hopefully be 'Are you wired correctly?'. The basis would be having the right tools and so on to be on fire for God. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
