Q:hello,i have lots of 8 gauge wire resting at my closet. And i'm very interested on doing the big 3 upgrade to my 2000 mitsubishi eclipse gt. May i see any improvement with 8 gauge wire?...i know that at least 4 gauge is recommended...but i dont want to spend money.
first, do not remove any of your factory wiring. only add extra wiring. it would work if you did two or three runs of 8 gauge wire instead of a single run of 4 gauge wire.
Q:When it is time to replace wiring in a building?
When the demand for power increases. They're many form of wiring. Knob and tube, brown rag wire( no neutral) BX and Romex style. All depends on your needs. Knob and tube is extremely antiquated and can be dangerous. You could also consult an electrical company and have them go over your house with you and see what they say. Most companies can give you an estimate or diagnosis on the electric in your home for free
Q:I am trying to take 4 lights in the basement that currently all have to be turned on independently and wire them all in series to a single switch. I just took the wires and put them to the switch and then to the first light. it came on but when i held the silver metal shielding piece that houses the wires, I got a tingle. I think that would mean I need to connect the third wire. The grounding one. The light did come on which I think means I had the pos and neg connected right. Where do I connect the ground wire and what caused the tingle? by ground wire I mean the third wire that is nothing but copper. I think I just put it to the case or the light or whatever looks like a good spot to get grounded. any extra knowledge or advice is a big help! In the mean time I will be searching the web for how to's.
If you got a tingle then something is wrong other than the open ground. Something is shorted out
Q:could someone teach or explain to me how to hook up the 1st one, i do not understand what is happening there. How do you connect thoes wires to the main wire??? the distribution?
Ok, first thing you want to do is, for each subwoofer, wire a negative and positive together. You can use regular speaker wire to do that (well you're supposed to anyway). After that, you will have a negative and positive terminal left on each subwoofer. What you need to do is run a speaker wire from each of the terminals, so you have 6 different wires from 6 separate terminals. Make note of the 3 positive wires and the 3 negative wires. Now what you do is simply twist together the 3 positive wires together, so you have 1 positive wire. Connect that positive wire to the positive terminal of the amp (if it's a 1 channel amp. If it's a 2 channel, connect it to a bridged channel on the positive terminal. Or however you want.) Do the same for the 3 negative wires. Twist them together to have 1 negative wire, and connect it to the negative terminal on the amp. Finished! That kind of wiring is called Series wiring, by the way. The other kind is called Parallel wiring.
Q:I know what spark plugs are and where they are... but not sure what is meant by wires...For example checking/replacing spark plugs and wires to see if a problem is fixed..Are wires what hookup to the spark plugs from the (distributor?)
that's feasible to get undesirable cord or undesirable spark plugs or the incorrect spark plugs. it is not any longer that easy by way of, that's extra straight forward to get the incorrect spark plugs or mixture up the spark plug wires. yet you could no longer omit cord purely one spark plug cord, and with the coil packs in step with cylinder you will relatively would desire to paintings to omit cord it. So i'm assuming which you have a Ford Explorer with a rotary distributor, and the two a 6 or 8 cylinder engine. tell your husband the undertaking and characteristic him recheck his paintings. Get out your proprietors handbook and determine you have the right spark plug on your motor vehicle. confirm that the spark plugs are ideal and securely outfitted, that the spark plug wires are securely outfitted, and that the wires are under pressure out to the right plug. consistent with what twelve months of ford you have this would desire to be quite undertaking-free to do yet you will would desire to understand the firing order. Get a restore handbook from the library or look it up by potential of potential of the internet regularly the firing order could have a diagram that coach how the spark plug cord run. If all seems so as or it quite is previous our ability then circulate to a outstanding storage or ford dealership. you do no longer decide for to force if avoidable, you could reason extra extreme injury. appropriate of success
Q:how do i wire a dual 2 ohm sub to an amp at 2 ohm
actually tc your almost right. yes 1 and 4 are the ohm loads of the speaker itself. but if your talking mono thats all you can achieve. on 2 channel amps when you bridge them your talking ohm drop again. so if you have one dvc 2 ohm wired in series and then bridged to the amp your looking at a 2 ohm load
Q:Are those coils of wires in an electric fan magnetic?
Electric motors, all electric motors, have some form of stator and some form of rotor. The rotor is the section that rotates... duh. The stator is the part that houses the rotor and does not move. AC electric motors, like your fan motors, take advantage of the fact that the phases of current alternate through the wraped wires around both the stator and the rotor. The wire wrappings make the rotor and stator into electro magnets. By careful placement of the rotor and stator wires, the magnetic fluxes that surround both parts can be made to alternately pull and push on the rotor. And that causes the rotor to turn. While most if not all commercial motors have wire wrapped rotors and stators so they are electro magnets, some lab motors may have permanent magnets embedded in their rotors in lieu of the wrapped wires. These are way cheaper, but they are typically way weaker than comparable motors with electro magnetic rotors. So, yes, the coils are electro magnets. As long as there is current alternating through them, there will be corresponding magnetic fields and appropriate forces to turn the rotors.
Q:I notice my 10/100 Ethernet wire uses 4 wires (2 twisted pairs). I'm curious what each wire is used for. I understand one pair is for Tx (transmit) and the other for Rx (receive) but why does it need 2 wires for each? I assume bits of data cross on one, but what of the other?

Q:My home is wired for the thermostats with two wires (red and white). I have acquired a new thermostat that requires a Red, White, and Common wire. Using the white wire in that position will power the unit up but it won't trigger the heat. Is there something that can be put in line that will allow this thermostat to work without rewiring the house?
2 wire is milivoltjust scrap off varnish off wires and try again dc voltage produces varnish on wires prevents heater from firing
Q:ok, so i love making jewelry, and probably a year ago i went to michael's bought a roll-type thing of really soft, really, really thin silvery wire. a couple of days ago i went to michael's again and it wasn't there.as i said, the wire that i had is very thin, very soft, and also after you bend it, it won't snap back- it actually will never go back to being completely straight, even if you try to make it do that.is memory wire what i should be looking for?does anyone have any suggestions to what kind of wire i should get?
Hi - I hope this information helps you - Beadalon? Remembrance? is thin, tempered stainless steel wire that is used as a beading medium. The wire is corrosion resistant and will resist tarnishing. Like a spring, Remembrance wire is rigid and snaps back to its original form when expanded and released. The wire remembers its shape and retains its coil form. Sterling Silver Wires To choose the right kind of silver wire for your project, you should know how you want the piece to look and what kind of piece you are creating. You will need to consider both the hardness of the wire and the gauge of the wire. There are three kinds of sterling silver wire. They are: Dead soft, half hard and full hard. Dead soft wire is very easy to bend. It can be better for wire wrapping or for making wire beads but will often not hold shapes intended for wire wrapping. Dead soft silver wire is usually used by people who work silver because it hardens as its shaped and hammered. Half hard sterling wire is stronger than dead soft but is still quite malleable. It is excellent in wire wrapping smaller or heavier beads and is a good choice for beading and jewelry making projects. Full hard silver wire is hard to use and bend and not necessarily recommended for jewelry making - at least for a hobbyist.
