Q: So on my ceiling fan I have a white, black, green, and blue wire. In the ceiling I have a green, white, black, red, and bronze wire. What gets connected to what? Thanks for the help!: Redneck Texan is an idiot. Bronze does not go to blue. I think he is color blind and thinks the green in the picture is blue. Pat F85 is correct. The black on th fan is the blades and the blue on the fan is the lights. Black and red in ceiling can go to either blue or black on fan. Typically it would be black to black aNd red to blue.

Q: i think i messed up the wiring to my headunit. its not the wiring going into the headunit, there is no power from the wires. how much should it cost to get the wires checked out and fixed somewhere?: If your talking about the power wire the feeds the radio on the eclipse then you need to check both fuses. On the eclipse they put an in line fuse before the fuse box and one at the fuse box and either one could be blown. If neither one is blown then you do have a break in the wire. does not half to be cut but it can be an internal break. If i was you and the fuses are not blown i would run your own wire from the battery with an in line fuse to your radio. This happened to me so that's how i know about the two fuses. hope this helps.

Q: I want to know what the definition is of a hot wire gauge.: I would need to hear this term used in context. It could mean the gauge of the 'hot' wire which would refer to the size of the wire being used to conduct the positive ('hot') flow of electricity.

Q: i want to install a new light in a old house.the problem is that there are three black wires coming out of he ceilng.the old light fixture has two black wires. two ceiling wires are connected to one fixture wire and the other ceiling wire i connected to he other fixture wire.i dont know which is the hot wire and which is the comon wire.also the new light has a ground wire ,2 blue wires and 2 white wires but, there is no ground wire coming out of the box. please help: a wire is a wire is a wire! the coatings were only put on to keep the continuity in sync. if you have all these blk wires, 2 go into 1 and connected to the lite and the other is connected to the lite, and there is no gnd wire. the 2 are running thru to another lite along the way as they did in those days. don't disconnect them, keep them together and call that your power/red or blk, the single coming down to the lite is the common/white...get tape and mark them so. electrical tape comes in colors. now you won't have that prob in the future. as for the gnd, you should have a metal box, just screw to that. at last resort if you have an attic, run a grn/gnd wire from a water pipe of someplace that will ground and wire nut it off. any Q shoot me an email...

Q: Just bought a new amp for my truck. The speaker outputs needs to be indiviually wired to the door speakers. Do you splice into the speaker wire or the trucks harness?: ideally you want to wire directly from the amp to the door speakers with new speaker wire but doing this properly requires removing some of the trimming and passing the new wires throughout the car. you can also take the easier route and pass the wires from your amp up under the steering wheel behind the center console and splice them into the existing wires going to the door speakers. as long as the wattage isn't very high the latter shouldn't be a problem. however, if it were up to me i would use new wires and pass them throughout the car, removing the trimmings, etc. this can be somewhat of a pain to do if you have never done it before though.

However, we are having trouble locating the correct wiring harness for the 2004 Venture. We've bought two already for GM vehicles that should technically work for the year of our van, but they do not work. One salesman told us we needed a very expensive wiring harness because it controls the airbags and other electrical gadgets (but they didn't sell it at his store... he said to look online). I've looked online and can't find anything. Would we be better hardwiring it OR does anyone have any experience with a situation like this?
