Q: I just learned how to do 3-way wiring, so that I can turn a light off from 2 different switches. My question is, how do I add another light to that mix, so that both lights come on/go off at the same time when I turn the switches on and off? (It's for a closet that has 2 lights in it that I want to come on/go off at the same time).
You have to tie the wires that go to the light together. It is called parallel.
Q: I am moving a stove that has four wires - bare copper (ground), red, white, and black. The location I am putting it in only has three wires - red, white, and black. Can I just ignore the ground on the new location since it doesn't have one? Or should I cross one of the other wires with the ground?
Your four-wire stove has a terminal where you can connect the bare/green and white wires together, most have a jumper to connect the two terminals. You don't want to leave any wires unconnected. The other two wires (red black) are connected the same way between 3-wire and 4-wire units. You'll have to buy a 3-wire cable for your stove to plug it into the 3-wire receptacle. The new code requires 4-wire connections. The bare/green wire and the white neutral wire are run back to the circuit breaker panel separately at which point the are connected together on a buss bar.
Q: Got a new kenwood stereo to replace the old kenwood one in my VW polo 1998. Workes fine but when I pushed the stereo into my dashboard a wire came out so I pulled it out and put it back in. It worked, but next morning my car battery was near dead, I unplugged the stereo and its fine now. I assume I used wrong wire? Does anyone have a diagram or picture of how it should be wired?
When you wired it did you butcher the wires or use a wiring harness? With the wiring harness, everything is labeled and color coded. Match colors to the kenwood wiring harness, splice or use butt connectors, plug harness into factory harness and player, attach antenna wire and you're done! If you did butcher the wires and left enough wire, repair the harness and buy a harness kit at your local sound shop, really cheap too! Good luck!
Q: And how can you not get them in hair straightener wires? Thanks!
Short in a wire is when two wires either don't connect cuz they're not long enough, OR when the wires start to smoke or burn or catch on fire.
Q: I wanted to ask, im busy installing a new stereo headset for my car, when i replaced the old stereo with the new one, i used the wire harness from the old stereo and joint the wires to the back of new the stereo (which there is another black adapter that goes in the wire harness area on the the new stereo) i did this by connecting the wires from the stereo adapter to the wire harness that connects to the car, although the adapter that connects to the stereo has more wires than the wire harness that connects to the car,( i only connected the wires that were matching such as grey wire to grey wire, grey wire with black strip to grey wire with black strip, and so on, i obviously didn't connect the colours that didn't match to the wire harness wires, although i looked up online and apparently the yellow wire is a power wire, but i don't know where to connect it......if anyone could help, this would be greatly appreciated , i also wanted to ask, would this solve the problem if i buy a new wire harness? Thanks
What kind of car is it? That's important, especially if it's a foreign make because those wires are so weird colored. Typically, yellow or ornage is power, red is memory, and the purple, gray, white, green wires are for the speakers .Black or brown wires are ground. Any blue wires you might come across are mainly just auxiliary signal wires that go to an aftermarket amp and subwoofer setup. Unless you have something like that, those wires can be taped off and forgotten about. Also, when wiring an aftermarket radio to your car, you will need to purchase an adapter harness that plugs into the stock wiring of the car and the wires connect to the radio wire harness correspondingly. I suggest soldering all the necessary wires and sealing them with shrink tube. It's the most solid, most sure way of a good connection without the worry of shorts and disconnections.
Q: im installing a JVC raido in my 1990 nissan maxima and cant figure out how to properly conect the wires
the radio comes with a wiring harness the easiest way to do it would be go to a pepboys, bestbuy, or autozone and get a radio wiring harness for 1990 maxima. this way all u have to do is splice the colored wires that match the same colored wires from the radio harness. once that`s done all u have to do it plug in back of radio and the car harness. the car harness will run u bought 18.00 but its worth it to do the job right
Q: Hello, I couldnt find a more appropriate category for this question, so i'm hoping someone here knows a little about wiring. today my booster fan burnt out, so I had to replace it. I got a 6in-line duct fan from the home depot. When I got home and took it out of the box, there is just wires with no plug on it. I have an old lamp that I took the cord off of, but there is only 2 cords, pos neg. The new fan has 3. white, black, and green. the black is the hot wire, and the green is grounded to the metal of the fan, and the white I am not sure of. I just want to know how to wire this plug to this new fan. if anyone knows how to do this please get back to me. Any help will be greatly appreciated. once again thank you.
you recognize the strategies of ways a furnace works so i'm assuming you basically opt to comprehend if in-line followers artwork. i've got put in them to help heat up a single room and it raised the temperature some ranges which became sufficient for me. this would sound stupid yet in keeping with threat truly of putting in a 12 inch in-line fan to flow air in the process the main significant duct, you install a pair of smaller 6 inch followers in strategic rooms on your upstairs and it does no longer be as great so a techniques as static tension is worried. basically a concept, wish it helps.
Q: wiring diagram
just connect the ground (most important) and the black is hot the white is neutral. the ground is the bare wire. If you get it backwards the blades will spin in the wrong direction. just reverse the white and black. If you need to wire it to a 3-way switch, well I don't want to get into that.
Q: i want to now which is the live wire and which is nuteral thank you
Henry is correct. The other answers are wrong.
Q: wic iring codes for turner plus three wired to uniden washington cb radio
I love wiring questions :) do you want to use the PTT? If yes you can assume it is a switch and solder it inline with the lead the other end (after the switch would be connected to the lead end of the 1/4 if you have a pigtail 1/4 then this would be the insulated wire, the ground would simply connect to the uninsulated wire if you are actually using a do it yourself 1/4 plug then the same rules apply only you are soldering to the terminal inside the plug sleeve rather then to bare wires (I always prefer this its cleaner). Please Note: The PTT switch will cause a loud pop when it is engaged and released on a Hi Gain guitar amp and sometimes this can damage the speakers as well as delicate internal components so do this of coarse at your own risk.
