- Q: hiI got a car radio quot;Grundig WKC 3680to stick to my car, I don't understand is the difference between : 12 VOLT BATTERY WIRE and 12 VOLT IGNITION WIRE, which one to use? I got only one cable bringing the current from my Renault 4 car!thanx
- check to see if that power lead from your car has power with the ignition off if it does that will be your memory wire and you will need to run another wire from your fuse block on an accsesory that is controlled by the ignition switch for the cd player to be able to turn on and off with the car its not a very hard job once you figure out the starting point
- Q: wiring has ceramic poles
- That must be some OLD wiring. All you can do is be very careful. This would be a good time to consider putting in new wiring.
- Q: I notice my 10/100 Ethernet wire uses 4 wires (2 twisted pairs). I'm curious what each wire is used for. I understand one pair is for Tx (transmit) and the other for Rx (receive) but why does it need 2 wires for each? I assume bits of data cross on one, but what of the other?
- This is an ethernet only cable. A full patch lead has 8 cables. Yours is STILL an ethernet cable. The additional blue pair would be telephone and the brown pair was unused, but is commonly used for power over ethernet now. ANY data connection requires 2 cables to balance the signal. In effect one is pushing voltage while the other is pulling and vice versa. One is signal, in effect the other is a ground, bur the idea is that by using twisted pair cables the inductive voltage created in one polarity on one is cancelled by the inductive voltage returning on the other in opposite polarity. The same rule applies to external interference from other equipment as these are also cancelled. If it used one cable and a common ground you can never guarantee this immunity to interference.
- Q: where does the expression 'down to the wire', come from?
- I found this online: The wire is used in a four-legged footrace-- at least I've only ever heard the word tape used for races involving bipeds. That and ribbon. The wire in question is an actual wire, and it's used in the Sport of Kings, horseracing. A tape or ribbon would be too stretchy to instantaneously trip the shutter on the finishing-line camera when it was crossed. A horse has no problem busting through a single strand of wire.
- Q: my rabbit is chewing wires and in one area in my room there are like 300 wires i was just wondering if i can spray something on the wires cause i thought i saw something that said that please help!!!!
- well you could but I would not guarantee it working. Wires are just a bunny magnet. Bunnies often actually like spicy, bitter tastes. I had one that liked bitter apple. Really best is out of reach out of danger. You could keep bunny out of that room or cover the wires. Furniture the bunny cannot fit behind, large diameter aquarium tubing, for multiple wires all going to the same place even sump pump hose. For my computer desk I installed a baby gate.
- Q: im gettin a amp and sub for my car and was wondering how would i make a wiring kit for it ... i have basic knolage of wires but thats about it thanks in advance
- the wiring kit is usually: - low gauge cable of certain length (x2) - rca cable of a certain length (x1) - small power connect cable (x1) seeing as these things are already pretty much in their simplest form, I don't see the practicality of making your own wiring kit. just buy one.
- Q: Im Very Curious As To How Did The Designer Orese Make Her, African Continent Shape Wire Earrings? I Have The Supplies To Make Wire Earrings. I Would Love To Do A Personal DIY! :~)
- as well as on the first page link above, under the category Wire-Framing (P.S. Why did you use initial caps on all words in your question?...kinda hard to read.) .
- Q: In the picture there is a blue wire that is loose, also i just had the starter and wiring changed a month a go. Thanks.
- The blue wire I see is attached to the Oxygen sensor (O2). If that is loose there must be a plug where it goes. That is not shown in your picture. If you're saying the car won't crank (different from will crank but still not start) what is the wire with the blue cap that disappears behind the exhaust manifold? Here's how starters are wired: The BIG red wire comes directly from the battery to the solenoid. Also going to the solenoid is/are (a) control wire(s). Typically there's only one control wire. When you turn the key you energize the control wire. That in turn pulls the solenoid in sending the starter gear into the ring gear on the flywheel. The solenoid also makes contact between the BIG red wire and the actual starter motor itself supplying power to the motor and starts spinning the engine. Older model cars have the second wire going to the solenoid do so to supply unresisted 12 volts to the ignition coil. With computer managed engines this is not necessary, the computer does the work. Hope this clears up some issues for you. Ava g'day mate. )
- Q: Thermostat has two red wires two black wires. The baseboard has one red one black wire.
- I'm not sure I understand how you're trying to hook this up. It sounds like you've got two pairs of black and white wires? Were these installed with the intention of supporting a 220 volt device? You really should be seeing a black and a red wire, and measuring 220 volts between them. Try measuring between the two black wires - you'll either get 220 volts, or nothing (if they're on the same leg). What connections are available at the heater, and how are they labeled?
- Q: I'm doin this thing where I need to connect some wires and one part uses Apple iPod headphones. Inside those wires, they have insulation. I burnt the wires so the insulation would not be in the way. Will the wires still conduct the electricity? Or will I just need to find some other headphones without insulation to do this with?
- It depends. If the wires themselves got oxidized when you burned the insulation off, they will not conduct electricity as well as they did before. On the other hand, if you burned them in a way that converted the non-conducting plastics (organic polymers) into graphite (pure carbon) the wires might conduct a little better (because graphite conducts electricity). When you say there is insulation inside the wires, you may be confused. Some small electrical wires contain threads braided or twisted in with the fine copper wires to increase strength. These threads are usually non-conductors so, technically, I guess you could call them insulators but they are not in there to prevent one wire from making electrical contact with another wire. You can check if the wire still conducts elecricity with a battery and the bulb out of a flashlight. good luck
