Q: i have 2 audiobahn 12s and an adiobahn amp in my 2000 malibu...1. the thin blue wire that comes from the amp to the stereo is connected to an orange wire behing the (stock) stero, and when i turn off the car the amp stays on. does anyone know which wire to connect the blue wire to, so the amp turns off with my radio or when i turn off the key.2. only one of my 12s is hitting, i think ther might be a wire connected wrong behind the stero. since i have a stock stereo and i have a converter hooked up, because it had no rca inputs on it. its not the speaker or the rca wire itself, because when i connect it with a y cable to the amp one or the other will work...i would appreciate it if someone could help.: Ditch the stock radio and buy a new head unit with sub outputs. It will be a lot easier, and sound a lot better. This will probably get rid of both of your problems assuming you get the wiring harness with the purchased radio

The wiring color code on an aftermarket head unit will match up properly with a vehicle-specific wiring harness. The wire colors of your vehicle wiring will NOT be the same as the wire colors on your aftermarket unit. You have to match the wires up according to function, not according to color.

The hot wire is red plastic coated and looks modern to me.: you've got some good answers so far. if the wire turns out to be aluminum then proceed with caution because aluminum wire in small sizes turned out to be a terrible idea. it will need a special receptacle. if the wire is bx wire as described in your first comment don't bother with those greenies he mentioned because simply screwing your device into the metal box will bond the ground together. it uses the 6/32 screws provided as an excellent grounding means. you may want to consider using GFCI receptacles as well. I've never seen a new hot wire and old neutral wire like you describe and I've worked on a lot of older houses. before you get into trying to rewire your house realize that this is a very time consuming and aggravating project that will require two people who really should have experience doing this. if you do it then invest in a long (like 4 foot) drill bit and some glow sticks.

Q: I need to wire a single 120v outlet from the 240v volt wire I use on my compressor. Im installing a 120v electric automatic drain valve on my large shop air compressor. The compressor is wired up with SJ00W 10-AWG, 4-wire power cable (red,green,black white wires). and is rated at 240v @ 15-amp(compressor not wire). The drain valve uses a normal house hold current wiring config. (black,white and open copper)The 240v power supply is the only supply I have near by, (two of them actually) Or I would just wire the automatic valve off an outlet and call it a day. Q: where also is fourth wire hooked in?: your 4 wires are probably the white, black, ground, and traveler wire. The 4th wire, the traveler wire is needed if you want to have a 3-way or 4-way switch. Since you don't have this type of switch, otherwise it will be obvious where the 4th wire goes, just put a cap on it and tuck it inside the box.

Q: I recently instaled a Alpine in dash dvd player, the only wire i have left is the safety wire that needs to go to the parking brake wires. Where can the parking brake wires be found on a Ford Explorer and which 1 shound it go to ??? Thanks in advance!: We'll if its an Alpine, there is going to be 2 brake wires. You cant jsut simply ground this wire to make the picture work. As soon as you restart the vehicle, the system will know, and you wont be able to watch video anymore. One wire is yellow/blue and one is yellow/blk. The one that is yel/blk should go to your brake wire. This is the one that is on your footbrake. You can test to see what wire this would hook up to. Just go to the brake pedal switch and test the maybe 4 wires are there. All this wire needs to see is 12v when you press the brake. The yel/blu wire is going to the only wire that goes to your parking brake. You'll see it, its the only one that is connected to the metal of the lever. All this wire needs to see is ground. There is a sequence that these wires needs to see. Usually its your foot brake on (hold it), then toggle your parking brake on, then off, then back on again, and then release your footbrake. This will make your screen view video and access extra settings. FYI, you can also buy a bypass module for this on OKorder. It will only cost maybe $20 or so. It will tell you how to wire it up to this relay so that everytime you turn your car on, it will automatically do the sequence for you. Hope this helps!
