- It will work and you probably will have no problems as long is the wire is 18ga or better. Underground cable will last longer but I have seen regular wire last over 10 years. If someone say's that 18ga is to small then why do they put it in the higher end speakers but if you are running over a 100' i would go with 16ga.

- Q: I was looking at the wiring of my current thermostat and I want to know why it's wired the way it is...The yellow wire was wrapped around the white terminal and the yellow terminal. And the white wire was wrapped the around the Orange terminal. The red and green wires were each wrapped around their respective terminals. And the blue wire wasn't connected to anything. Why would the electrician have wrapped the yellow wire around 2 terminals? Is that normal? Also, I tried installing a new thermostat but the heating is not working. The fan works but it just blows room temperature air. The new thermostat only had 4 terminals for R, Y, W, G. I connected the wires I had to their respective terminals. However, I think it may not be working because I have a probably have a heat pump. Any Ideas why else it might not be working? Thanks a lot!
- The 24 gauge cord is slightly easy. considering you will need in basic terms 2 conductors and the telephone cord is 4 conductor, basically double up the wires. Tie the two ends of two conductors collectively for each conductor mandatory.

- This should be copper wire and a splice could be made with little risk since the thermostat is a low voltage circuit in most cases. Try the local HVAC contractor for some of the type you need. There are different types ( number of conductors) for different controllers so they need to match. If you just have the HVAC contractor do a fall service on the system they can make the needed repairs and prepare the whole system for the winter. It was probably used a lot this last summer so a service is about due.

- Q: The house was built in the 50's. Two wires are coming up from the switch and two wires are coming down from the top of the wall. I do not see a third wire. I attached the wall light wires left wires to left wires and right wires to right wires and light stayed on, when I moved the switch it threw the breaker. So I used may combination and the switch would not make the light work. It appears one wire may be white and one black. Help please!
- I think that 'ed' has given you good advice, if you know *nothing* about electrical wiring inside of the average home and about how two-way switching is wired. The two-way switch is designed for two wall switches at different locations from a common light or other electrical appliance to be able to turn the common appliance 'on' or 'off' independently from each other. If you have one of the boxes that a new two-way switch came in, it should show you, with usual wiring installed under the modern U.S. standard electrical code, which colored wires should be attached to which terminal connections at the INDIVIDUAL, separate switches. Ordinarilary the color coding for electrical wiring in the modern residence is 'white' is for the common 'ground'; 'black' is a 'hot - 115/120 volt-to-ground' wire; and the red should be a loop wire to the common appliance. When one of the wall switches is in the 'on' (up) position, and the other wall switch is in the 'off' (down) position, electrical power is furnished to the appliance. Changing the position of either of the wall switches, cuts off the power to the appliance. And changing the position of either ONE of the switches will supply power again. If you've done any wiring before, you should be able to figure it out, but follow what 'ed' suggested if you can, just to be sure.
- Q: I would like to know how to wire my West Marine VHF Radio.Coming out the back of the radio is a red wire, a white wire, and two black wires. The white wire and one of the black wires are a thinner gauge then the other black and red wires. Any solutions out there? Thanks
- You could solder (best), or crimp connect a waterproof In Line fuse to the red wire, then connect it to a terminal Ring, and put over the red + battery post, then ground the black wire, by connecting a Terminal ring to it and put it over the NEG.- battery post. The In-Line fuse is circuit protection, OR you can by-pass this by conecting to a spare fuse on the Panel (red +), then ground the black wire to the Neg on the battery or neg - on the panel (fuse block). Direct connection to the battery is best, the other wires probably go to the Aux. Speaker which you will need as the speakers on the radio are too small to be heard over engine noise. Soldering works BEST, then coat with Liquid Lectric tape, or heat shrink tubing for a water resistant seal on the wires, and a good Marine connection. E-mail is open if further assistance is needed.
- Q: How can I make a wire dress form?
- Use chicken wire for the molding of the body. Make tube of the wire the width of the hip and bust area. Hook it together by intertwining the ends. All you have to do is mesh the wire, where you want it smaller and mold the bust to the size you want. After you mold it like how you want it, cover it with a single knit material. Then make a wooden stand to hold it at the height you want. It is very simple to do. I made a 7 foot hat that way to fit on a car for a parade.

- We'll if its an Alpine, there is going to be 2 brake wires. You cant jsut simply ground this wire to make the picture work. As soon as you restart the vehicle, the system will know, and you wont be able to watch video anymore. One wire is yellow/blue and one is yellow/blk. The one that is yel/blk should go to your brake wire. This is the one that is on your footbrake. You can test to see what wire this would hook up to. Just go to the brake pedal switch and test the maybe 4 wires are there. All this wire needs to see is 12v when you press the brake. The yel/blu wire is going to the only wire that goes to your parking brake. You'll see it, its the only one that is connected to the metal of the lever. All this wire needs to see is ground. There is a sequence that these wires needs to see. Usually its your foot brake on (hold it), then toggle your parking brake on, then off, then back on again, and then release your footbrake. This will make your screen view video and access extra settings. FYI, you can also buy a bypass module for this on OKorder. It will only cost maybe $20 or so. It will tell you how to wire it up to this relay so that everytime you turn your car on, it will automatically do the sequence for you. Hope this helps!
