- Q: When wiring my subs from a positive to negative coil, do I use positive or negative speaker wire?
- Speaker wire is speaker wire. There's no difference between positive and negative wire except the markings on the jacket. If you're talking about the bridge wire when wiring a dual voice coil subwoofer in series, just use any piece of wire that's the same gauge as the wires between the other subwoofer terminals and the box terminals.
- Q: ok so i have a power acoustik ov2-2200 amp right now and all my wires are working fine with this amp....i am going to buy a lanzar MXA282 which is more wattage (RMS)Do i need to get any new wires to hook this amp up? like the power ground or remote wires? thx... sorry for my ignorance :/
- If you aare running with 4 gauge right now...your going to want to upgrade power and ground to 1/0 gauge. Your RCA should not have to be upgraded.
- Q: Source 115V 20A breakerI have 12/2 wire and want to wire this:GFCI 15A receptacle -to- 15A receptacle -to- 15A receptacleI have basic wiring skills, just need reassurance. Thanks.
- Hi Mike, Simple circuit. You need to wire the colored wire (usually black) to the hot side of each plug first. Then install the common (usually white) to the common side of your plugs. Then wire the ground to each plug. (I would wire each plug complete as I went.) At the panel you should connect the common and the ground being careful you don't touch the power strip the breakers are installed on. Then you should install the breaker in the panel after you attach the colored (usually black) wire to it. I accept email if you want more info.
- Q: I've started cutting wire and bending it into shapes to create animals or images, but the problem is, I need to know how to make each piece stick together without any glues as they make the art dulled and the metal looses its shine :/ any suggestions?
- I did wire art in college and we had to use just the wire as well, so I just used needle nose plyers and did a lot of twisting to hold the wires together.
- Q: Is there anything else I could use to solder things without buying whole long spool of soldering wires? I mean like the wire inside the TV antenna cable from 99c store or nails and etc. ? Something I could use single time.
- Are you asking about solder itself, or the wires used to join things together with solder? You can use any wire that meets the current load requirements to put in a jumper wire. does not matter where it comes from. Yes, old TV wires and such can be used to make a jumper. You have to know what current goes through it, if it's a power wire, so it does not overheat or burn up. Otherwise, all signal type wires (analog or digital signals), can use just about any size wire if there is no real heavy current in them. As for Solder, there is no real way to get around that - you have to use solder to fix a soldered connection. Always pre-tin the new wire first (melt solder on wire first, and clean off excess solder). Then heat the connection and wire equally at the same time and touch the solder between the wire, connection and solder tip. The wire has to be hot enough to melt the solder - do not put the solder in the solder gun tip alone, that won't flow properly...
- Q: Given following setup of three wires in the plane of the page with I1 = 1.3 A (to the right), I2 = 3.4 A (to the right), I3 = 4.5 A(to the left) and each wire is separated by 3 m.I'm completely lost, I need to..1. What is the direction of the magnetic field at wire 3 due to wires 1 and 2?2. What is the direction of the force on wire 3 due to wires 1 and 2?Any help would really be appreciated! Thanks!
- I assume that those wires are sitting parallel 3 m apart from one another. 1. The magnetic field around a wire forms concentric circles around the wire. Wire 1 and Wire 3 are parallel so when you draw a concentric field line around Wire 1 with radius 6 m, you get a magnetic field line passing Wire 3 at a right angle. And a concentric field line around Wire 2 with radius 3 m passes Wire 3 at a right angle. Both magnetic fields have the same direction because the current in both wires flows in the same direction (to the right). Using the right-hand rule, you can find that the magnetic field at wire 3 due to Wire 1 and Wire 2 goes into the page. Ans: Into the page 2. The force on a wire can be calculated in the following manner: I X B * L. Here I is the current on Wire 3, B is the magnetic field due to Wire 1 and Wire 2, L is the length of Wire 3, and X is the cross product operator. So I cross B would give the direction of the force. Now use the right-hand rule, I cross B will give the force direction pointing down. This means the force due to the magnetic field would repel Wire 3 from Wire 1 and Wire 2. Ans: The force on Wire 3 due to Wire 1 and Wire 2 would repel Wire 3 from them.
- Q: remote 2 wires for power black - white also 3 wires to goto fan/light ? white - black - red
- wire it black to black white to white. original wiring could be wrong. please better description. for light kit red or blue should connect to that. dont forget grounding wire even though white wire polarizes
- Q: Two current-carrying wires are lying right on top of each (at a right angle) other, with currents flowing in the wires in the directions pointing up for the vertical wire and to the right for the horizontal wire. The horizontal wire is fixed and does not move. What happens to the vertical wire?Choices:It moves out of the pageIt rotates clockwiseIt rotates counter-clockwiseIt moves to the leftIt moves to the rightIt moves into the page
- i'm uncertain we've a sparkling theoretical answer to this although that is a demonstrable fact that shifting quotes have an effect on different shifting or movable quotes.even while there's no internet value obtrusive it is summarized as magnetism
- Q: tryin to move dryer approx 8 more feet but existing wire not long enough have 12/2 wire can that be used to run 220 dryer
- 12 wire is not heavy enough to pull a 220 dryer under any circumstances, and is against ANY code in America; and is a severe fire hazard. Besides, you need to have three wires - 10/3 0r 8/3 wire, anyway, so you would have a ground. Papaw
- Q: i bought a programable thermostat that says it needs a c wire to be able to use the remote...i dont have one of these wires on my old thermastat but im kinda understanding the c wire was just to power a clock on certan thermostats is there a way to rig a c wire to power what i need???
- the c wire is the common wire on your 24 volt control circuit.... wire used by some thermostats to power clocks or lights...... if you have extra wires in your thermostat wire cable it should be a blue wire and will hook up in your furnace to the blue wire or will be hooked to the c terminal on your thermostat wire connection board in your air handler...you can use any color wire in the cable that you are not using as long as you connect it up the way i just mentioned..
