- Cut out the burnt section and glue in a piece of scrap carpet! Go to a carpet store and get a carpet repair tool. They're only a few bucks. Some adhesive disks and carpet glue. Now take your cutting tool and cut out the damaged section. Be careful to not cut through the carpet fibers themselves. Next cut a replacement section from the donor carpet also being careful not to cut the carpet fibers. Next you will peel off the cover on the adhesive disk and place it in the empty hole. Now put some glue around the edge of the hole and insert your patch trying to match the grain of the carpet. (Carpet has a distinct grain). Press the patch firmly into place and put a weight on top of the area. Let it dry at least twenty four hours before putting the carpet to use.

- Q:I purchased this large rug at IKEA, I think its made of wooven cotton, but Im not sure (it doesnt have the tag anymore). Its really dirty, but I'm not able to put it in the laundry machine, its to big.The rug is this light cream color, so stains are very visible. Its got this weird stains, but they are made of dirt ,not of another substance. I already tried cleaning with the vacuum, but it doesnt remove them, the rug still looks dirty. - must admit, I would simply put it outside on paving, wet it with a hose on power spray, spray some cleaning liquid (spray 'n wipe kind) on it and brush it over with a wet rag or brush. Then use hose to clean off. Hang over washing line to dry. A small rug I have always comes up as new when I do this! Don't forget to shake well before bringing in and vaccuum to freshen fibres.

- sure!. also you can use house carpet also. but before you put carpet down, unhook the battery, open both doors, clean the floor off and brush paint the floor with rust-olem paint, let it dry good, then put the carpet down. the paint will protect the floor board.

- No, you have melted the nap on the carpet. Easy way to fix is to plug or patch the carpet. If you have a sample of the original carpet it is pretty easy for a carpet mechanic to cut a piece from the scrap and glue in a plug. If you do not have a piece of the carpet, you may consider going into a closet if it has the same carpet and cut a plug from the closet. Put the damaged piece in the closet. I often do this on my rental property, but if you are not handy and experienced, hire a carpet mechanic.

- If it was me, I would call the installer, or the store that you purchased the carpet from and tell them about the problem and ask them to remedy it. After all it is brand new. I wouldn't mess with it myself, they may then blame you for the problem.
