Q:I'm looking into carpeting a room and was wondering how much the carpet is. I will be installing it myself.
Square inch? Don't you mean square yard? That's 3 feet by 3 feet. Average cost is any where from 7 to 15 dollars per square yard, depending on quality.
Q:Is professionally cleaning a FILTHY carpet enough or should it just be replaced?I am moving into a house with a FILTHY carpet. Truly disgusting, just nasty. The house stinks bad because of it. The landlord says he will get it professionally cleaned. I would rather have all the carpet taken out and replaced...or some other flooring put in. Is professionally cleaning a carpet that great of an idea? Does it only get the top surface clean..or does it clean deep down?
The landlord doesn't have to replace it, unless it smells. You won't know anything until it gets cleaned and is dry
Q:how do i keep rugs from creeping and moving? My rugs are on carpet.?
They sell rug pads meant for rugs on carpet. The last time I bought one was at Target.
Q:I am putting in 2 subs in my car with a plate so the subs look like the back of the trunk. Problem is that my carpet has quickly deteorated due to my previous box and I want to replace it. I am going to cut out a plywood sheet to fix the bottom of the car then install the carpet on that. The plywood is going to have a hinge to swing it up so I can get to the spare tired + add extra support. I need to do this by saturday before the subs are installed. What thickness plywood should I use (Thinner is better for me and I am going to drill holes in it for weight reduction) and how do I install the auto carpet so it's smooth and looks nice. Thanks!!!
Get a gallon jug of Acetone from Home Depot in the paint department. Pull all the old carpet up, pull up the tarboard sound deadening material, then pour out the Acetone and scrub the floor using steel wool to clean up any glue or tar that might be on the floor. Once you've got the floor pans clean, paint them with flat black paint to protect them from rusting. Finally, you can find replacement carpet at a parts store, just glue it down with contact cement.
Q:should horses (in summer) always or most of the time wear a kool coat/sheet?if so why is this essential?
I rug all my horses here in Australia I use rugs made from shade cloth they are light breathable I find them to be cooler then cotton rugs Were i live is mozzie fly country Rugs also stop my show horses getting sun bleached, Keeps coat looking good But it is a personal choice if you wish to rug or not
Q:I am wanting to make a braided rug. I have done a lot of research and have patterns, know how to do a few different braids, etc. The trouble I am having is deciding what kind of material to use. I know most people use scraps. I have some old clothes I can cut up, but what material is best? I have mostly old cotton t-shirts. Would that work? Do jeans work? Or should I just buy some sort of material at the store? Any recommendations??
I once bought an instruction book about this, although never made a rug. They recommend good quality cotton, and ripped, or cut on the bias to allow a bit of stretch. I've also seen them made from old nylon stockings. I'd suggest that jeans would work, if cut on the bias as recommended in the book. Durable, cheap, although not very long pieces if cut bias.
Q:Our house is currently covered in carpet. We have a dog who sheds and has occasional accidents in the carpet. I'm debating whether or not to switch to hardwood floors. I would like to to the floating because of cost. Does anyone have advice? Should I stick it out with carpet? Is wood that much easier?
I like the hardwood but with your dog lays the question. Unless you clean the mess up quickly the boards will soak up btween seams and will raise at that location. Been there done that. Buy and extra package of flooring for replace. Hardwood with small area rugs work the best, you can wash the rugs
Q:I'm trying to figure out how to place a standard rectangular rug under a horseshoe shaped sectional with an oval coffee table making up the center. Should the rug go under the whole sectional with room to spare behind it? That would have to be a very large rug.Can the sectional be only partway under the rug?
Horseshoe Shaped Couch
Q:I recently moved in with my boyfriend but I told him I'd only move in if he put a carpet down because we have a 10 month old son who does not want to sit still. It's been a couple months and everytime I bring it up he dismisses it. I don't want to wait any longer. I will pay for it and he already said he knows how to put it down. The floor is completely bare...it's not hard wood flooring but the wood that's underneath the carpet it comes with. It has staples to hold down the wood and all along the edges are those sharp nail things. He said that we need something additional to put between the wood floor and the carpet that makes the carpet soft or something. What I need to know is WHAT all do I need to put down a suitable carpet for my son to play on.Thanks for any and all help!!
something easy to clean, does not collect dander or hold dirt. No little pieces that will come unattached so that he can put in his mouth. go to a reputable carpet outlet/store. They will know best. even if you don't buy there you will at least know what to look for elsewhere.
Q:I have a high pile cut carpet. When I put a dime on the carpet the carpet is a little over the dime. I just bought a dyson and it seems to fray the edges of the carpet. Im trying to find a vacuum that has great suction but wont ruin my carpet. If you have a short shag Carpet what kind of vacuum do you use?andDoes anyone recomend a vacuum for my kind of carpet?thank you so much!!
Try using the wand with the floor attachment instead of the beater on the vacuum. (The bristles of the beater bar along with the high suction could fray the pile.) The wand of the Dyson seems to produce less suction force and shouldn't pull on the fibers as much. I'd suggest a vacuum that gives you more choice about the amount of suction -- something more than High/Low and Carpet/Smooth. I switched from a Dyson to a Miele a while ago because I have different pile levels, and wood and stone flooring. Always seemed like the Dyson was too strong or not strong enough. The Miele has like 5-6 settings plus variable beater bar height and strength. It uses bags (which I don't mind) so if you want a bagless, try one that that gives you more control options.
