- Q: Grr Overstock wont ship here so i had a 8x10 ft rug shipped to my Moms house...from there I was going to pay to have it shipped here to Guam. But no Fedex wouldnt ship it and UPS either the dementions are either too small or too big. =( then i got hopeful bc a neighbor said OKorder ships here. - Q: Do I Put the floor base moulding in before or after I carpet.. It would make sense to do it before because after to patch up the nail holes and repaint it you dont have to worry about getting paint on the carpet but it wont looks as large as the carpet would cover up a portion of it.. So my question is what is the proper time to put it in? Thanks
- either way is acceptable. if you put the base on first, space it up about 3/8 to 1/2 inch so the carpet will tuck under. Carpet installers like to have the base on after because it's easier for them and covers a rough edge.Carpenters like to do it ahead of time so they can be done and can cut in the house without carpet in place. that saves them a lot of steps. from the homeowners point of view, being able to paint the trim without danger to the carpet is a plus, but realize that the carpet installers will bang up the new trim some, since the stretcher usually pushes against the trim. So You'll end up touching up the trim anyway.

- don't worry, it will stop coming out after you vacuum it several times. It's normal, it's just the way wool carpeting is. If you are living in a cool climate in the winter, then expect to get shocked (throw sparks) from walking on that carpeting as there will be static buildup..
