- Q: They say quot;dry clean onlyquot; but I have been told that this is not the case. Does anybody know if a Rug Dr will work? They are camel colored.
- Try a stiff hair brush. It worked on my jacket.
- Q: my cat claws and tears a section of my carpet in my apartment. I would like answers from someone who really HAS the experience on cutting out the piece, replacing, sowing, etc. Can anyone help?
- using a sharp carpet knife or razor knife you can cut out the old smelly carpet, but make sure that the new peice is cut exactly the same. You need to make sure that the carpet runs the exact same way or you will notice it. To see the difference take a peice of carpet and lay it next to your other carpet and see if it is noticeable. if so you have it running the opposite way. turn it and see if it runs the same way. then you need some carpet tape that you need use carpet iron with to seem the carpets together. If your not experienced in carpet laying I would suggest you get a carpet professional to lay the new peice in so that you won't be able to tell. or for a quick fix, you can buy carpet neutralizer for the urine smell but you would have to peel the carpet up and the padding and treat the sub floor with it and the padding and the carpet. It will neurtalize the urine and stop the smell.
- Q: Please define a "RUG" ?
- it is a piece of fabric, generally a carpet type with a loop or pile that is used as a floor covering( unlike a carpet it is not attached to the floor and is movable), it can also be made out of heavy braided cotton fabric or even recycled plastic bags. also, in american slang a rug will also refer to a man's hairpiece or toupee
- Q: I wanna get a rug or carpet big enough to fill my garage which is 11 by 22 feet or just a carpet I dont have to install and I can just lay down, where can i get one?
- Hi, Finding a ready made rug of that size is a bit difficult. You may have to specially order it, which is not all that difficult/expensive. If you go for a carpet, then it has to be installed.
- Q: do i have to wait till the carpet dryes before i put the furniture back onto the carpet? or can i put the furniture right back on it? if not how long does it take to dry?
- you can put things back on a wet carpet. However there are a few things you need to watch out for. Bare metal,(check bottom of furniture legs for metal caps)it will rust and leave a rust stain on the carpet. any redish color wood. ie. mahogony, cherry, red oak will leave a stain on the carpet, that cannot be removed. any boxes or papers with ink on them can transfer into the carpet. These are the most common problems. By blocking the furniture, you can prevent these problems. Blocking the furniture is simply placing something between the wet carpet and what will cause a stain. Plastic, saran wrap, wax paper, styrofoam all work. Even ordinary paper will do. Personally I use wax paper, its cheap and easy to use, with no mess. When I clean carpets It ussually takes 4-6 hours to dry. Professionals using portables ussually take 8-10 hours to dry. doing it yourself shouldn't take more ythen 12 hours to dry. If it does you're leaving the carpet too wet, spend more time vacuuming.
- Q: Smup pump broke and water leaked on to the carpet
- Rent a carpet shampooer and suck up as much of the water as you can, then shampoo carpet, set a fan in the room until carpet dries.
- Q: Is one of the two supposed to be softer than the other? More durable? Easier to clean? I want a sisal type area rug. I want a casual look that would go with my blend of tradtional and contemporary decor. I do not want a scratchy rug with fibers that quot;stick upquot; like bristles on a brush! I thought the sisal would be softer and more pliant to the touch, but a decorator friend said the jute is what I want.I believe seagrass is the scratchy, bristle-y fiber, and I don't want that. I want a sleek, tailored look.Any suggestions or ideas?
- Sisal rugs tend to be more durable. They are both natural fibers. I believe sisal wool rugs are what you're looking for. Sisal - the strength and durability of natural fibers, Wool - the soft underfoot feel. Sisal wool rugs have the best of both worlds - durable and soft. Jute is also soft, one of the softest natural fiber rugs. I guess the best way to compare the textured feel is to go into a rug shop and feel the difference of the materials.
- Q: Any time it rains my carpet feels damp..(no leaks) I have a brick home...Any suggestions?
- I bet your house was built on a slab. It sounds like they didn't put a vapor barrier under the concrete and your slab is wicking a tiny bit of moisture up from the soil. Or, if your house is brand new, it may be that your slab is still curing.
- Q: Ok so i want to get new carpet in my basement and on the Home Depot website it says that youcan get any size carpet for only $139, but idk if this includes taking the old carpet out. If not, then how would i do that, and/or how much will it cost???
- They give you an estimate if you go in and tell them the size of the room. Removing is usually included in carpet stores but Home Depot might charge for that but you can ask.
- Q: spill candle wax on my carpet and wont come off...
- Be careful and this might just get most of it up: Take several paper towels and put them over the wax. Now rub a very warm but not supper hot clothing iron over the paper towels. This will warm the wax while it is being absorbed into the towel. Repeat with clean paper towels until you are satisfied that you have removed all you can.
