Q: I have a large square area rug (12x16ish), it has different colored (brown, blue, burgundy, tan, etc.) squares all over it. It got left out side in the weather most of the winter. If I were to dry it out and clean it could I do anything to make it nicer? Like, could I paint it or something? I put it outside in the first place because it was starting to get thin in spots and some of it was faded. t had to be vacuumed all the time because it was like colored dry rotted thread dust was coming off of it. I was wondering if anyone could come up with some last resort ideas before I take it to the dump. I'm not really sure if it could be painted because its like carpet???? but is there a type of vacuum-able fabric or something I could glue to it or any ideas like that?
sounds like the rug is pretty much worn out, I think the only thing you could do would be to make small door mats from the areas that are still somewhat in good shape and throw the rest away. Once a material has become so degraded as you describe, there is is no way to save it, plus it only makes cleaning and maintenance more difficult because it is constantly falling apart right under your feet.
Q: is there anyway u can get nail polish out of a carpet, i spilt a whole bunch (reaaally dark).. and i tried using shout carpet but it didn't work.. is there anyway to get it out.. = thnx.. lt;3
It's best to just pour a whole thing of nail polish remover on it, but make sure the nail polish remover isn't colored. then just press on it and rub. still there but you shouldnt be able to tell very well
Q: i am trying to find out how much it will cost about to put carpet in an average size room approx13 by 17. i just want middle of the roead carpet, but does anyone have a guess?
I just went carpet shopping today and found that for two rooms that measure approx. 26ftx 16ft that it will cost almost $900. I even removed all of the old carpet and padding myself. It ain't real cheap!
Q: How to fix the red carpet on the stairs
Glue and nails to fix! ! !
Q: Someone spilt some blue WKD on my cream carpet and I've tried carpet stain remover, white wine and an industrial carpet cleaning machine. Are there any other ways which will remove the stain?
I don't know what wkd is, but here is a way to remove most stains that can be removed. A cup of warm water with 2 drops of a liquid laundry soap, mix well. Using your fingers dampen the carpet fibers. Try not to get the back of the carpet wet. After the carpet is wet , make a big pile of white paper towels on top of the wet spot. Now put a weight on top that will not rust or bleed from the water. Maybe a cookie sheet with a brick on top. Leave it covered for 12 to 24 hours. Remove . Look at the paper towel if the stain has transferred to the paper you are on the right track. Just keep doing it until its gone. There is a chance that the wkd has removed the color from the carpet and you can not fix it. Also you may have set the stain with the wine. For your information carpet cleaners have equipment and stain removers that home owners can not buy. Calling a carpet cleaner is a lot less money than replacing the carpet. One last word , your home owners insurance company may cover the cost of replacement.
Q: There's nothing to say about the carpet at the end of the bed
Environmental protection and energy saving. Carpets are mostly woven from natural fibres and man-made fibers, which can be recycled without having to cut forests and destroy the environment like the floor.
Q: Does the rug doctor help get the pet smell out of the carpets. We have been watching a few dogs and cats within the past year, and it is taking a toll on our carpet.
Yes a rug doctor will do the trick. The rental for 24 hours is 16.95 and shampoo runs about 15. Unlike a professional carpet cleaner that cost just over two hundred. I know this becuase I live on a military base and we have to have our carpet professional cleaned before we move out. I also know the rug doctor does a good job because I have had two puppys and rescued a couple dogs that were not potty trained.
Q: I have a rug imported from Iran. It is made of wool on a silk backing. My cat was sick on it and some of the color ran—vermilion into cream color. It is getting a bit dingy and I would like to get it cleaned. Is there any way to get the pinkinsh stain out of the cream part. It is a beautiful rug.
If the color ran, your rug was probably made with vegetable dyes rather than chemical dyes. Don't try to clean it yourself, you will make it worse! Take it to a cleaner specializing in oriental rugs and talk to the owner, not the counter clerk. It may be dicey, so ensure you use a professional company.
Q: is a carpet cleaner job hard or an easy job?
For the most part, it is a fairly easy job, but this does not mean it is not challenging. You may get several jobs in a row where the carpet is immaculate and they homeowner's have moved everything for you. Then, you'll get a job where there are spots everywhere, that have been set (made into stains) by previous cleaning attempts and the homeowner will be expecting miracles. Easy or hard, it can be a rewarding job. You work a miracle on someone's carpet and the smile on their face makes it worth it.
Q: We recently had a storm and I had water damage in my bedroom and the carpet was soaked. A company came out and extracted the water and steam cleaned the carpets but I can still smell that wet carpet smell. Any ideas on how to get rid of the stinch?
I think the only way to get that smell out is to air it out for days or weeks, any time your at home open the window in that room if you can , air the carpet out and keep spraying it lighty with something that smells good while airing.
