Q:We have very nice new wood floors. I have a rug and I need to put a carpet pad under it. Is there a particular kind of carpet pad I should use? I'm afraid it will damage the wood floors somehow. I bought a carpet pad that is like a rubbery grid, just afraid to use it!
NO ... There are special anti slip mats that go under rugs for a couple reasons.. These mats are made to hold the area rug in place and not bunch up and let the rug walk.. These mats also let the wood breathe and won t stain the wood. Regular carpet pad isn t made to do this. Plus the thinnest carpet pad you can get is 1/4 and that , along with a rug can actually be a tripping hazard.. I also don t know what kind of floor you have and there is a possibility that a rubber pad can react w/ certain finishes on wood and and permanitely stain the wood, just a possibility GL
Q:I have a stain on my carpet. It's from tanning lotion cream. The carpet is beige, and wool. Is there any way I could get this out?
You have to be careful with wool, a lot of products that can clean carpet can also damage it (though typically, good wool carpeting is very cleanable compared to the synthetics or cheaper wool). The solution is dependent upon the stain and color of the stain. Your best bet would be to have it professionally cleaned using hot water extraction (aka - steam cleaned), by a reputable carpet cleaner. By reputable, I don't mean one of the large corporately owned companies, as they seem to nearly always do a horrible job. They're very in-and-out trying to make a quick buck, though they may be cheaper. They should be using chemicals to clean the carpet, and have the proper knowledge and know how to diagnose the stain and then remove it. Even if the stain cannot be removed, a good carpet restoration person can dye it back to, or very nearly to, its original color easily. We do this all the time on all colors of carpet. Without seeing the stain, its hard to tell you what exactly might work. Also, if you don't know exactly what you're doing, and you try it yourself, you could actually make the stain worse, or set it in for good. Might be able to tell you more if there was a picture to see the stain though. Anytime you spill something on your carpet that you know is likely to leave a stain, the best thing you can do is put water on it, and just keep it wet until you can have it cleaned, preferably as soon as possible.
Q:hi there, i just purchased a yoga dvd (to do at home), and i was wondering if it can be done on carpet (as my whole house is carpeted!) will it be bad to do it on carpet? if it is

Q:I need to clean a spot of urine from our oriental rug (from Dubai). It may have been a day old when I discovered it. I soaked up as much as I could with a paper towel but it has left a slight stain.

Q:What causes carpet around the edges to turn grey in a stairwell?
The technical term, as used by the carpet cleaning industry, is Filter Dirt. This term refers to soil/dust that has passed through the furnace duct work, and the furnace air filter, and has now attached it self to the carpet fibers. When this dust is circulating through the house, from the cold air return to the heat/air ducts, it picks up an electric charge which makes it difficult to remove from the carpet fibers. When it shows up on the edge of each step, it is thought that the dirt/soil is coming up from the under side of the steps, through the small crack in the wood base holding up the steps. Some people plagued with this problem, have replaced the carpet ,and prior to this, caulked the seams between the steps and the wall. You need to look at getting your air ducts professionally cleaned. They should be cleaned every 5 years, anyway. also, you may need to consider replacing your furnace air filter with a paper pleated style. Do not purchase the 3 for a dollar fiberglass style. The cheap filters have the ability to only trap golf balls and pop cans. They allow most soil and dirt to pass right on through the system. Change your furnace air filter every 4 months religiously. Use a black marker to write on the duct work near the furnace of your change out dates. This gives you a written filter change out record in an appropriate location. The carpet cleaning industry does have a solvent based product to help clean the filtration soil from the carpet. One is called Filter Out. from Pro's Choice. Sometimes the stains are permanent, as the soil while traveling between the air ducts is picking up cooking oils from the kitchen, making for a difficult oil/dust, electrically charged stain to remove. These stains are also found around furniture setting right on the floor, and under doors that remain closed. Hope I've given you some guidance to help deal with future filtration soil problems in your home. (3M makes the best paper pleated air funace filters)
Q:The corners on my rugs are starting to curl up because they are getting old.. and loved! They go perfectly with the rest of my decor so I don't what to have to go find new ones.
You can go for various rug pads available online.Another option would be use Two sided tape and paste in on floor and the next step is stick a Velcro on the tape and the other part of the Velcro on bottom edge of the rug. This will surely help your old rug from curling up from edges.
Q:my carpet is tan/bash and i already tried carpet and upholstery cleaner which seems to have gotten out most of the color. however it's still a little sticky!! it's a brand new carpet and my grandma is going to kill me!!!PLEASE HELP!!
soak the damage parts in lukewarm water. scrub lightly with laundry soap, leave the soaps and suds on and put the carpet under the sun leave it for like 2-3hours. soak it again on water, rinse the carpet. *soaking and drying while soapy makes stains evaporate with hot air.
Q:i am getting a leo gecko and i dont know what do get so is reti carpet fine or?
DON'T USE SAND until they are a certain age or size. they eat the sand and can get sick. Reptile carpet is good for if they are sick, but look at the bark or the jungle bedding. Those will do better if it is small or young. Typically they are about 7.99 - 14.99 depending on how much you get.
Q:the differences of pure cotton carpets and acrylic fiber carpets
The anti static performance of pure cotton is much better than that of acrylic synthetic fiber material, if carpet has serious electrostatic, it's uncomfortable to step on it. In addition, too much electrostatic is also easy to absorb grey swing Lei seal brown Fu chicken sweep alone preserved dust, which is very dirty. Of course, acrylic fiber carpet is cheaper. The fluffiness and elastic are better than pure cotton, it's soft to step on it.
