- Q: Grr Overstock wont ship here so i had a 8x10 ft rug shipped to my Moms house...from there I was going to pay to have it shipped here to Guam. But no Fedex wouldnt ship it and UPS either the dementions are either too small or too big. =( then i got hopeful bc a neighbor said OKorder ships here. So I got all excited when I found the same exact zebra print rug on OKorder... but of freaking course it cant be ship[ped here....can someone just bring me a dern black and white zebra print rug ? =( I now have island fever.
- Cut it into smaller pieces and carry it home yourself then carpet glue or tape it back together. Why not use the local product - Guamanian striped and zoned in black. Why kill yourself over a dumb rug?
- Q: What is the material of pp in carpet?
- Polypropylene or polypropylene fabric
- Q: I recently lost a large wall rug in my house due to a fire. The only information I have for it is the following: My grandmother purchased it from a traveling salesman in Canada sometime between 1967-1971. The dimensions of the rug are approx. 6ft long by 3-4 ft tall. It has a picture of polar bears on icebergs. The edging was red yarn-like fringes.I think that this rug is worth something but I can't find anything like it. I need to put a value on it for insurance purposes so I want to find out its true value and need documentation to prove that that rug, or one close to it, is worth a certain amount of money. My other grandmother had a similarly sized rug, possibly sold by the same guy, but it had a bullfighter and bull on it. Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated.
- I'm not incredibly familiar with rugs, but I can try to give some help. After searching around a little bit, it seems that most of the rugs fitting this description are between $200-400, but rugs also run much higher in price. If it is a hand-made rug of that size made by a fine rug-maker, you could be talking $1000 dollars or more. I can't say too much more, since I'm in no way qualified to appraise a rug, since I don't know enough about them, but I included some links in the sources that might help you price your rug. Hope this helps. Good luck!
- Q: I stay at my current apartment for 8 years, the carpet is not in good condition. The landlord just sent someone to do carpet wash, but refused to replace it. I am wondering if there is any law/regulation regarding how often the carpet needs to be replaced at the landlords/owners expense. Or any way I can request him to replace?Thank you.
- I'm in FL and every 2-3 years or every new tenant where the former tenant has been there for one year then a new carpet is installed and the cost of that carpet is about $300 for a one bedroom place. I too have lived in an apartment for many years and have not changed it but only to keep my rent down. They said they would not replace it unless i removed some boxes which I refuse to do that, so they haven't come in to change mine. But if I wanted them to I'd simply ask them to do that and they'd raise my rent for me to pay for it. I never heard of any law or regulation about replacing carpets.
- Q: I noticed a bunch of sand under an area rug in our living room, and my mom said something about how fibers in old carpets an rugs turn into sand. Is this true? And if so, how does it work?
- The latex that holds the primary and secondary backing has sand in it. As the latex breaks down, sand is released.
- Q: I recently moved house and my real fix fur rug isn't large enough to cover the floor in my room, so my question if, if I go and kill some foxes tonight, how do I skin them and how do I attach the skins to the rug without making it obvious where i have sewn them on?Also, what shall I do with the remains, is fox edible?
- Yes fox is edible... but save the brain. Tanning a hide is a skill that requires practice. I can tell you how but I suggest practicing on something you don't plan to have every guest at your house have a look at. Also some sewing skill would be needed to mend the two rugs together, and foxes aren't large animals so more than one will almost definitely be needed. To tan a hide: Skin the animal at the leg and stretch the skin out very taunt. You will need a tool for scraping ( something sharp but rounded enough not to tear the hide). While the hide is stretched, scrap of the epidermis of the skin with your tool (on the side without fur obviously). Its important to keep the hide wet during this process. Keep a bucket of water nearby to wet it down with. After the hide dries from anywhere from a day or a week (still stretched) untie it and cut it to the size you need it. Now rinse it in a mixture of a half - a whole gallon of water and the foxes own brains (yes, the brains). Rinse, wring it out, rinse again. Over and over and over until your tired. Next stretch the skin out some. Give it a tug with a partner to loosen it up. Then you have to smoke the skin with a dark smoke (most likely from old rotten wood). This will cause the white skin to tan (hence, tanning the hide). Tan the fir side as well but no where near as much as the inside of the skin. Once its a golden brown you can sew it onto your first rug. Whew lol. This is just the general jist of tanning a hide. There are many other methods that I don't know about. I learned how from Naked into the wilderness: Primitive Wilderness Living Survival Skills
- Q: Personally, I think they are kind of dumb. They get all messed up, are hard to wash and attract dog hair like no other. Do you think it makes a house look cheesy with no rugs in the bathrooms, entryways etc?
- i think its just something to give design and stuff. but yea its pretty dumb. but i if you have wood floors and you put a table there. it would be ideal to have a rug so you don't scratch the floor. and if you have wood floors having a rug would make a good spot for you to just lay down and chill. my dad changed my house to all wood floors and i liked carpet a lot better. Just for living carpet was better. its more comfortable but cleaning wise and stuff. its terrible lol and people dont really have rugs in entranceways. those are floor mats which is different. its so you can rub the mud of your feet when its rainy outside. And as for the bathroom their usually tile. . .so idk why you would put a rug there. . .and it would get all wet and stuff and dry kinda slow.
- Q: Our carpet is 8 years old (because we moved here 8 years ago), severely stained to such an extent that we're ashamed to look at it, has an interesting but unappealing smell, and is all over disgusting. We live in an apartment complex and have been begging for someone to do something about this carpet, however we've just decided to clean it ourselves. There's this Rug Doctor up for rent for a small fee at our local supermarket, and I was wondering if it would do any good. I want a cleaner carpet and gosh darn it, I hope this Rug Doctor can make it one.Would the Rug Doctor work on such a carpet? I am not exaggerating when I say it is dreadful (and I mean exceptionally dreadful). How has it worked for you?
- it sounds ok but i would call a company and have a expert to take care of this carpet it can be really bad you will only lose money renting this machine.
- Q: my 1yr old always manages to find bits on the floor and eats themhow is it i can vac 3 times a day and yet she always finds something to chew on off it??does your child love carpet food as much as mine and does it actually do any harm?
- I can't say that my son ate bits of lint from the floor. However, when he was about that age, he would stash snacks around like a squirrel. I'd give him a cracker, and he would run off and hide it. Later, he would go back and retrieve it with a big grin on his face. I never understood it, as he was always allowed to have a nutritious snack if he was hungry. But as gross as it was to have to look for old snacks hidden behind the couch, it used to crack me up.
- Q: What does carpet mean?
- generally the carpet paved on ground are thick wovenis or mild cloth made of wool
