- Q: I'm remodeling a house on a tight budget. All the carpet needs replaced and I was wondering if anyone has bought carpet from Ollie's Bargain Outlet? If you have, is it a good choice and will it last a long time? I was also looking at Lowes carpeting. A good friend of mine told me that Lowes carpeting isn't very good in the long run. Has anyone had any problems with it? (I'm installing the carpet on my own if that makes a difference)
- We have a carpet business in my family.. and if you get to see and feel the carpet a good way to tell the quality- the softer the underside of the carpet- the better. Personally I'd go with Ollie's over Lowes carpeting and no matter where you go, it really only lasts 7 years before either looking dingy or needing to be restreched, do you know how to install carpet? just asking because I can give you pointers if you dont. some people just kind of lay it in there instead of putting down the tack board and stretching it, or seaming it properly. and no matter where you get it from, make sure you get padding for underneath, if you're going to be living there, you'll regret it if you dont, makes a world of difference even on the cheapest carpets. that's all. thanks!
- Q: My living and dining room are one room. (not a huge room) I bought an area rung which I would consider classic. It has about 9 rows of different color rectangles ( beiges, golds,browns, and burgundies) with a beige border for under my dining room table. I saw another rug with basically the same colors but with more burgundy. It has bigger rectangles that are all different sizes. Some are big stripes and not in any particular order. It is hard to describe. Can I put them together? One in the living room and one under the table? From the end of one to the beginning of other there would only be about 18 inches? Thanks
- So what we have here is two area rugs that clash correct? Can you put them together? How close are the rooms to each other? If their close, than no, they don't go together. If you must have both rugs try and seperate the one room from the other, by getting decorative deviders of some sort etc. The deviders are nice looking and will take the focus off of the other rug. (2) tomato sauce, sauce and other sticky substance: Absorbent objects can be used to absorb and remove stains such as paper napkin, then brush it again and again with a clean brush, rinse it with clean water. (3) egg white, milk, ice cream and other lipid objects: Firstly, wash it with warm water and washing liquid, and then use the specialized volatile grease to remove fat.

- I would definitely ask the professionals you are considering hiring. Depending upon their methods it could harm the floors.

- Try 'caramel' as the color for the curtains, and get a rug which has both caramel and a slightly lighter red in it for the floor. You could get a lighter red for the curtains, but I think the caramel (medium gold-tan) would work better. You'll also need some totally contrasting colors, but I'd get those as plants, either living or 'silk' unless you like taking care of the plants.
- Q: How do you remove paint from carpet?? It's a reasonably large spot of bright blue paint on cream carpet :S And it's been there for a while too... Any suggestions would be great!
- Buy some Lift-off Paint Remover. (OKorder or wherever) It will make easy work of removing the paint. My son spilled a pint of bright blue paint on the front seat of one of our cars. He kind of mopped it up and let it dry. He let it bake in the summer sun for a couple of weeks before I noticed it. A year later, I was going to sell the car so I tried to find a matching seat at the salvage yard, no luck. I decided to give the Lift-off a try. It took less then ten minutes and made a beach towel completely blue, but all the paint was gone. The Lift-off is non-toxic and very low odor.
- Q: I have a bissel carpet shampooer. I use that wit hot water and the bissel cleaning solution... Which is okay working.. But I need to DEEP clean my carpets. Whats the best cleaning solutions I can use in my shampooer or pour directly on the stains? The stains are mostly pet stains (no odor) and the stairs get bad because of all the foot traffic. - I've had my own carpet cleaner for years, and I like to go to the janitorial aisle of a big box hardware store and buy the off-brand gallon-size carpet cleaner. It's cheaper than the name brands (which are close to $20 now) and better. To get the deep stains, the trick is to pre-soak them with a mixture of the carpet cleaner and Oxi-Clean (assuming your carpet is not wool, in which case you cannot use Oxi-Clean). Let the cleaning solution sit there for a while, then go over it with the carpet cleaner. Finally, for those stained and extra dirty areas, there's value in finishing the process by placing old towels and the carpet and standing on them to soak up any remaining moisture (dirty water).
