- Is this the same rug I just answered about? I didn't know it was brand new! I assumed it was just old and funky. Try Carpet Fresh or any sprinkley carpet freshener. If it is really giving you a headache it is most likely just new fiber smell. Kinda like new car smell but different materials. In which case it will fade soon enough. but if it is really making your head hurt, take it outside and lay it out in the sun for a day or two. The ultra violet rays should cook off that new fiber smell a bit.

- GreaseWhen the carpet is stained with a liquid, it should be dried immediately. Then wipe it off with a clean towel or paper towel.
